Congrats To WHEC-TV News

You just earned the SCATS "Fake News" Award of the Week* for your story that aired at 11PM tonight regarding the "PNEUMONIA SPILL"  in Phelps!

Of course it was an AMMONIA SPILL, because the literate among us know that you can't "spill" an oft times communicable lung infection!

* There's so much fake news ... and downright stupid reporting by the nearly illiterate ... we feel the need to correct the record in an attempt to educate!

I wouldn't call this fake news, just a careless and ignorant reporter/news director/news anchor/anyone who saw it before it aired. How could an error like this get past so many people?

SCATS said...

To 12:29AM ~~ We call it Fake News for several reasons, not the least of which is the FACT THAT they NEVER correct their error on the air! They are not alone in this either. It is an ongoing problem we've noticed and it is becoming so widespread it is often difficult to discern fact from fiction.

Earlier last week, another young anchor from the same station was updating us on the recent terror attack in Manila. While reading her story, she tripped up on "Manila" ... Apparently, she was unfamiliar with the city name AND how to pronounce it. Her solution: After three failed attempts, she proudly (her smile told the story) decided to call it MILAN!!!

For the uneducated amongst us, Milan is in Italy. Manila is in the Philippines. Again, there was NO on-air correction made! These kinds of mistakes are entirely inexcusable.

Generation DUMB with their video capable "Smart" phones will now enlighten the masses, or is that messes?

Hell they'd have trouble reporting a flood if they were standing in the middle of it, and they have absolutely no knowledge of History. TV- NOT worth the time.

SCATS said...

To 1:01PM ~~ While we don't disagree with your premise, we do disagree that TV is somehow the culprit here. To be fair, we've heard and/or seen numerous reporting atrocities for many months across all forms of media - print, TV, radio, internet, etc. I'd say that it seems like there's fewer issues with radio, but then, I don't listen as often as I listen to TV.

In the bigger picture, there seems to be a lack of ANY type of editing ... and a very cavalier attitude about rampant carelessness. We can't help but wonder if this attitude comes from PUBLIC SCHOOL EDUCATION, where those in charge are never accountable???

Kids, I don't know what's wrong with these kids today
Kids, who can understand anything they say?
Kids, they are disobedient, disrespectful oafs
Noisy, crazy, sloppy, lazy, loafers
And while we're on the subject

Kids, you can talk and talk till your face is blue
Kids, but they still do just what they want to do
Why can't they be like we were, perfect in every way?
What's the matter with kids today

To 4:55PM ~~ "The matter" is that the permissive, PC left/liberals have allowed them to think the unthinkable is just fine & dandy.

Case in point: The doctoral candidate who was hailed for "self-identifying as a hippo" ... or make that a "tranimal."

( )

We wonder, does he wish to have a tail to propel manure towards those who mock him??

As a society, we're doomed!! Need we say more??

There is no doubt the main stream press is losing more credibility everyday. The reason can be summed up in one word - TRUST - the lack of it.
The majority of the main stream press are made up by liberal/snowflakes. Honesty is not important to liberal/snowflakes. Everyone makes mistakes - liberal/snowflakes will never admit 'they' made a mistake - YOU just don't understand. At present the MSP by promoting division, division, and more division and by manufacturing news and by 'producing' shock (fake) news they are doing severe damage to our country. The worst part - they just don't care.

Aw Geez; Next you'll get all worked up about tense.

Every time I hear an Infotwitt spew "Pleaded" I want to slap the little shit till they understand the past tense is PLED.

Hell, before Janet retired one of the weekend twitts reported a geezer who finally received his Legion of Honor from the French government, "Was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor by France"

They got Degrees from J School though, so they must be right.

Fortunately the traps seem to be working.

To 10:25PM ~~ Tonight I heard on the news: "Woman hospitalized for stabbing wounds."

How can a wound stab anyone? lol

You probably miss the irony in trumpeting a man who is probably the most ignorant president ever in matters of American and World History, proffers crackpot birtherism conspiracy theories, and turns over education to Amway, at the same time you rail about today's kids. The right and the left agree that our president is ill informed. Covfefe

SCATS said...

To 7:55AM ~~ What YOU've missed about our President is that he is probably the MOST transparent Pres. we've ever had. Want to know WHAT he's thinking? Look at his Twitter account.

You also have missed that he is the FIRST Pres. in my memory who took his oath to office and then IMMEDIATELY began trying to make his campaign promises a reality!

He is NOT A POLITICIAN, but a breath of fresh air!

PS ~~ The stock market is going up, up, up and employment rates are the lowest they've been in many years ;)

Did you happen to see the public portion of the cabinet meeting yesterday. It was pure cult of personality authoritarianism. Is this really what you really want to support?

SCATS said...

To 8:07AM ~~ Nope, didn't see it, but saw clips on the news. How is that any different than what Auberger did EVERY TIME controversy arose related to him?? Suddenly there were all sorts of speakers at meetings giving their support. Our town board NEVER criticizes our Supervisor, either, not even THIS Supervisor. Everything on the agenda is 100% "supported" at every meeting! Greece NY is a lot like Wash DC is today ;)

Charlie Hubbard said...

to 8:07 yes i saw it. Is it what you want? DAMN RIGHT.
Part of 'draining the swamp' is changing the way government does business - the press has no idea how to relate to this.
When you say 'it was pure cult of personality authoritarianism' - what does that mean? Sounds like both the press and or SNOWFLAKE speak!!

Anonymous said...

SCATS I find your argument confusing. Are you saying that because Auberger or Greece Politicians act like tinpot dictators it is okay for trump to do it? If such a procedure is despicable in the town of Greece it is despicable when our president does it. Our president is the face we give to the world and the example for all citizens not just a few of us in Greece. I think however, it is a little bit worse then Greece. When the president calls a public meeting of the cabinet and they sycophantically praise him and pledge loyalty to him I think we have stepped into the terrain of Stalin and Mussolini China and other dictatorial regimes
As far as Charlie's comment is concerned, conservatives as well as liberals were appalled at the meeting. You can do much better Charlie -- needs to improve.

SCATS said...

To 6:08PM ~~ I'm saying why don't you try to FIX what's broken right here in your own backyard first? I'm betting YOU didn't bat an eyelash when Auggie pulled that stunt.

Charlie Hubbard said...

to 6:08 (anonymous)
When you say 'conservatives as well as liberals were appalled' you make yourself out as a true liberal/snowflake - you have NO idea that conservatives were appalled - just make it up based on your 'feelings' You also lack the ability to believe it possible the cabinet put together by President Trump can actually believe in the man and actually want to do what is good for our country.

SCATS said...

To Charlie Hubbard ~~ Both are excellent points!

Anonymous said...

Conservative Bill Kristol said "I've seen individual Cabinet members fawn over a president when with him in public. But I've never seen this kind of collective sycophancy" June 12 tweet
Conservative Joe Scarborough called it “sick, shameful, pathetic” and “un-American. I am sure I can find others

SCATS said...

To 10:34PM ~~ I have little to no respect for either of them. Weren't they both Never Trump'ers?

Anonymous said...

Can we also talk about these female reporters who haven't got a clue on professional dress? They dress more like hookers or attire more appropriate for night clubbing.

Anonymous said...

1:01, have you seen the garb of the pathetic slobs teaching in GCSD?

In most cases, hookers dress better.

Did anyone see the latest issue of "" or the new "Post" newspaper. There is a picture of Bill Reilich standing IN FRONT of some Boy Scouts along with an article about an Eagle Scout Recognition award. Reilich's name was mentioned three times in the article but there was no mention of who the scouts were. Should we assume it was the scouts behind Reilich ? Who cares as long as Bill gets his photo and name in the news !

Three months ago I moved from a northern suburb of Atlanta. I took a job at aTech company in my field
We bought a home in NW Greece in a relatively new area. A neighbor turned me on to this site and have
occasionally followed its content. This will be my first post .

In have been a lifetime Conservative Republican and voted for President Trump as did most of my associates
and neighbors. After reading comments on this thread, I was struck by one commentator who accused another
for not knowing what he talked about when he commented that most conservative voters were appalled by the
actions employed by the president. He criticized that person of making it up consistent with his thinking. That
may have well been the case in this particular instance.

I personally can relate to what the original poster outlined because I happen to be one of many in my former
community who also voted for the President because we believed he would bring about much needed change
In Washington. It didn't take me long or others in my circle, based on Trump's actions in his first three months,
to realize that we may have been mistaken to trust him at that point. Now given his recent behavior I personally
realize that In fact had made a mistake. Plus during a recent phone conversation with friend in Atlanta, that many at
the local Country Club felt the same way much To their dismay .

So I think it might be fair to conclude that others like myself around the country have the same reactions as I.
We can only hope that he understands the damage he has done and reverse course and right his Presidency
For the better.

SCATS said...

To 10:43AM ~~ Sounds a bit like a case of "be careful what you wish for." You WANTED change. Trump has definitely done things differently :) Not only that, but he told you EXACTLY who he was during his campaign. Example: " Punch me and I'll hit back 10 times as hard."

I'm curious to know, EXACTLY what is it you don't like? His Tweets? I agree some of them are a bit harsh. However, there's a lot of truth in them, too.

Maybe you don't like the 18% growth in the stock market since his election? Or the lowest unemployment rates in 17 years? Or maybe you can't stand the fact that ILLEGAL immigration has fallen by over 60%? Or maybe you preferred to be forced to purchase health care you couldn't afford to use once you bought it??

I'm amazed at how much he has accomplished given his almost total lack of support even by other Republicans!!

PS ~ I watched him speak to a group of vets Sat. night and they seem to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE him.
