Health Dept. Closes Restaurant

GOLDEN PONDS CLOSED
FOLLOWING THANKSGIVING DAY ILLNESSES

Dozens sickened by turkey feast

SCATS ~~ Frankly, we're surprised this place was even open. Last time we ate there a number of years ago, there were almost no customers for a weeknight buffet meal.

Hint to MC Health Inspectors
Take a flashlight & stepladder and see if you can count the number of fish pans and buckets above the ceiling catching drips from the roof.

You MIGHT want to wear a respirator that protects from mold spores.

Don't stomp your foot on the wood filler around the bar because your foot might go through and into the pool of slop under the wood.

I know this is a different topic, but I didn't know where else to go.

So this "child" gets assaulted in school resulting in a concussion and when an email is sent to them to find out what they plan to do to ensure his/her safety - they ignore it for days. A response is finally given that states, "the district will work with the student that was the physical aggressor."

That's it. How anyone could stand Greece any longer is a mystery. People with the ability to do so have no choice but to move or send their children to private school.

What has happened to this district and this town (and this poor child) is heartbreaking.

To 8:32PM ~~ One word: "EWWWW."

To 12:12AM ~~ Sadly, it's been that way for years. Even sadder, the parents lack the spine to force the district to fix what's broken. As a group they have power, but too many prefer to suck-up to admin. or the teachers hoping their kid gets some sort of benefit.

Anonymous said...

What incident is this referring to? Did not hear about this.

Anonymous said...

I hope this parent called the police and filed a report and demanded this kid be arrested You have to get documentation on this by the police. If no arrest is made then you need to go to the media and complain loudly. Do not let this go.

To 1:23AM ~~ Are you asking about the closing of Golden Pond due to 60+ people getting ill from eating Thanksgiving dinner there? Or are you asking about what 12/05/2016 12:54 AM wrote about?

To 5:48AM ~~ GOOD ADVICE!!

Might be time for the cat to open a new post about the wonderful Bay project being brought to you by the Army Corps of Incompetents.

WHY are Greece roads being pounded to powder by dangerous dump trucks hauling 3 hunks of rock per trip from Syracuse? That alone is testament to STUPID. If one of those trucks stops suddenly where will the rock go???

And then there is Greece Highway Boss Kirk MoreAss attending the meeting with the other players. Every taxpayer in Town should know what a bang up job Kirkiepoo did in that meeting.
Every boater should know this MEGADOLLAR job is really half the job that needs to be done so your big boat can get to the dock.

Does anyone know where the new half million dollar play ground is going to go? The one that will be replacing the "out dated" one at Town Hall.

Don't tell anybody this bay breakwall is designed to self destruct so politicians and the Army Engineers can milk it for another 10 years in the future.
If they wanted to build a breakwall they'd do the same as was done by Odenbach at the old hotel and at the entrance to Round pond. Those walls are still in place from long ago.

This is a repeat of 1973, and none of those rocks lasted more than a few years. It's OK though cause some fat paychecks get cut by contractors.

Hey SuperKirk, why don't you tell the taxpayers who were waiting for tow trucks all over town how much you saved by riding around town in your new Kirkmobile delaying the salt run that should have gone out at 6? People didn't start getting called in till 9.
The people who have their busted up rides in body shops might want to know too.
You must have missed the page in the manual for highway supers that says salt goes on the pavement as snow begins to fall for maximum efficiency.
Just what is your qualification to run the Highway Department anyhow?

Anonymous said...

Hey Kirkiepoo the roads sucked for two days looks like the roads around town hall were ok though. Big Bill wanted to see bare pavement when he drove in to his part time job. You guys are a joke. Qualification???? look us the phrase political hack.

According to the Democrat & Chronicle Brian Marianetti, the Republican majority leader of the County Legislature, has tried in vain to explain why his party stripped $52,000.00 from County Clerk Adam Bello's budget. Brian's full time job is Greece Town attorney, appointed by Greece Supervisor/Republican Chairman Bill Reilich. Reilich is the guy who said Bello failed Irondequoit and will fail the County (let's not forget the I-Square SNAFU) and ultimately put his own Town Clerk in an unsuccessful race against Bello. Could Marianetti be trying to protect is full time job by sticking it to Bello? When it quacks like a duck....

If the kitten wasn't so busy CENSORING this thread to make Bello look good the real story might get told.

Bello BLEW IT AGAIN, but he's the media darling.

To 10:57PM ~~ Don't look now, but YOURS is the MINORITY opinion. If you followed the rules, you wouldn't get censored ;)

Anonymous said...

Did you succumb to the Golden Pond illness? Cat got your tongue.

SCATS said...

To 4:45PM ~~ Are you referring to the "Turkey with a side of ptomaine" Thanksgiving Day buffet special? The Monroe County Health Dept. should be SUED INTO OBLIVION over that mess!

Anonymous said...

reopened today. Git yer biscuits and gravy!!! I bet the line is out the door.. (for the restroom)

SCATS said...

To 7:02PM ~~ You couldn't pay me enough to get me to eat there after what happened, YUCK. This place should be permanently shuttered due to owner NEGLECT.

Anonymous said...

Have you retired? No new posts since November?

SCATS said...

To 12:12PM ~~ Is it possible to "retire" from a position that lacks pay, oversight in the form of a boss, etc?

Anonymous said...

ok,, so who has eaten at GP since the reopening? we won't judge, but do tell the details.

SCATS said...

To 11:16PM ~~ Based upon the TV news video, it appeared to be a bunch of older folks on the night of the reopening ... likely the owner's friends & family. Our advice: Eat there while it's still clean ... LOL

Anonymous said...

I am sure it is now the cleanest restaurant in Town. I ate there the other night. Two complete dinners for 20 bucks ! Great meal for a great price.

SCATS said...

To 12:47PM ~~ Stomach-pumping included?? Seriously, I think it's more than a fair question to ask how it came to be that a SEASONED restaurant owner allowed things to slide to such a disgusting level of negligence regarding sanitation?? Also, WHY the health dept. allowed it to continue following 18 violations noted during ONE inspection?? This place is a time-bomb.

Missed you Scats, glad to see you are back, hope your holidays went well and hope you rang in the new year with health.

SCATS said...

To 9:40PM ~~ TY. Rumors of my demise are still premature LOL

Anonymous said...

And today the Health Department CLOSED DOWN the Raddison downtown.

GEE, tight next to the river and they have mice. What's wrong with sharing your meal with Micky & Minnie?

Golden Ponds is named for the manure pit from the former horse stable it sits in.

WAKE UP people, it ain't safe anyplace.

Anonymous said...

Buying it fresh, and cooking it yourself--is the only way to be sure what the ingredients are. My kitchen is very clean. I rarely eat out, or buy anything that is 'prepared' at a grocery store by some kid coughing, and wiping his nose with the sleeve of his shirt. YUCK!

Don't trust anyone to handle your food.

SCATS said...

To 12:37PM ~~ Even then you can't be sure illegal farm worker didn't poop in the field & contaminate your cantalope or spinach or salad greens with E coli bacteria. Mangia!!

Anonymous said...

SCATS you are correct, as I have witnessed those workers in the fields after hours on Maiden Lane near Fetzner Road. I am not sure of the farm market's names, as I have not stopped there. The Ladies were down on their knees in dresses and large scarfs, covering their hair, picking the crops.. old junkie trucks parked near their rows...

Any fruit or vegetable that cannot be peeled has that risk, even if it is organic. I scrub all produce in warm water for a bit (hard to scrub strawberries, and raspberries).
Cantalopes are safe.

I am going to eat my lunch right now, an organic hard boiled egg, organic beef, and a huge organic salad with good old olive oil and vinegar. YUMMY!

Ciao for now!

SCATS said...

To 12:17PM ~~ I wasn't talking about local farm markets, though I guess it could be an issue here, too! BTW, cantalopes CAN be an issue and were several years ago. Don't you remember Wegmans in particular had a problem?

Anonymous said...

I just refreshed my memory with this article. Once again, you are correct, SCATS.

I am loving the start of the first 100 days so far! Congratulations President Trump!

You and I knew it would happen...4 glorious years, and maybe even 8!

Have a great day!

I'm thinking nobody here is old enough to remember when an unnamed farm market on Long Pond & English got closed by the County after the Inspector watched septic tank pumpers unloading on that land.

SCATS said...

To Alan ~~ OMG, ewwww!

Anonymous said...

No, I do not remember that...

SCATS said...

To 2:31PM ~~ It's happened more than once, as I recall. Potential Listeria contamination was the cause.

Horsepiss Pond is now listed for sale because all those people failed to properly eat their gravy properly.

Only half a million could make you the next SuperMario.
