Judging by the overwhelming responses it would seem no one agrees or gives a damn

To 1:29PM ~~ Or, more likely, that NO ONE KNEW!!

Why do you think votes are held JUST before a major holiday weekend? TO ENSURE PASSAGE!

GCSD has repeatedly used this trick in the Nov-Dec. timeframe to get bonds passed.

How much of an increase is RRFD proposing? My fire taxes are 85% of my town tax. Lets see Fire department 63 employees, town 360, fire department EMS calls and fires. Town; library, parks, town permits and services, road paving, plowing, sidewalk plowing, street light, community center, police department and forth of July celebration. Which is a better value? The fire department has increase every year, the town the last four has had a zero percent increase. What gives?

SCATS said...

To 5:46PM ~~ So you look at a reduction in services as "no tax increase?"

RRFD's tax is WAY OUT OF LINE and among the steepest around! They really do NOT need go to EVERY MVA! It's a waste of time, money and effort.

The fire district tax levy for the 4 fire districts in Greece are the HIGHEST in all of N.Y.S.
Last year the RRFD had a 7% tax increase. This year Barnard had a 11.4% tax increase and North Greece had a 11.2% tax increase. Obviously those in charge are not doing their jobs. These tax increases also reduced the amount of our property tax rebate as all of the Greece districts exceeded the tax cap. OUT OF CONTROLL.

At least the people have the right of vote on this. No one had any say about the WOW spray pad, pickle ball courts, pavilion, electronic sign, police HQ, court building addition, impound lot, etc. the list can go on and on ! ! And what about the future cost of maintaining all this ?

SCATS said...

To 12:08PM ~~ FEW people even know about this ... but I agree with your point.

Anonymous said...

C12:08 That's not exactly true. You vote for these items every two years in November when when you vote for the four clowns who hold town board seats and every four years for the Ring Master who run the town.Your vote gives them that ability to rip you off without any check and balance due to the lack of political opposition on a one party ruled Board. Think of that the next time before you vote.one party rule does not lend itself to the overall good and welfare of any municipality . Greece is no exception and is the example of this kind of problem.

My street is full of pot holes. Called the Town and was told it was not on their schedule. I can understand why with most of the DPW crews working on the Town Hall campus. Now there is a nice new paved 85 car parking lot for the spray park and a new paved trail around the retention pond, and I just love that impound lot ! it's going to be so attractive next to the library.

To 2:45PM ~~ They aren't efficient either. A couple of weeks ago, there were THREE town trucks with SEVEN employees the next street over. While ONE man placed the forms for the concrete (sidewalk repair), the rest leaned on shovels or played with their cell phones. I was going to call Bill and complain but realized he was too busy playing politics on the clock as Supervisor to take a taxpayer's call.

Greece DPW is handicapped by Kirkiepoo a/k/a Howard Handupme who must wait in the line to communicate with King William to determine if he should shit, fart or shart. Rest assured DPW employees know what needs to be done and how to accomplish the work, but they are prohibited from accomplishing anything by Commandant Handupme.

Thanks to King William who personally selected 3 USED trucks to buy at the suction where other Highway Departments shed their crap, Greece DPW has damn little in terms of material to work with. Greece continues to take in money to keep creeks and streams clean and clear of fallen trees so drainage can happen. This work is NOT being done though so the money can be better spent on King William's dream projects.

There is no reason for taxpayer concern, unrepaired equipment will be smashed to scrap when snow next falls, IF King William allows the plows to go out. Highway workers are conserving shovels by leaning on them rather than shoveling because no replacement shovels are in this year's budget.

How is it possible for 2 Fire Departments to exist on the exact same territory and both collect money?
Greece Ridge Fire and Ridge Road Fire District are both located in the same firehouses, and cover the same territory. It's a clever little criminal enterprise put over on the taxpayers for years. Greece Ridge pockets truckloads of 2% money from Insurance Carriers and that money disappears into unknown pockets. Attempts to learn where the money goes will meet a stone wall.

WHY isn't the overly aggressive Attorney General who is bankrupting Vol Fire Departments by stopping their raffles looking at RRFD and GRFD?

you all can whine, but none of you will go and vote June 7th.

The town is falling apart. The roads are terrible, crime is up, zombie homes everywhere, and all Reilich cares about is the town hall campus and the GOP chair to further his career. All we are is a stepping stone to him.

To 5:36PM ~~ YUPPER! On top of what Andreatta noted, Billy was back at the political sniping again on Friday (about the Dems and their funds raised) AND again doing it on the clock as Supervisor. Obviously, he doesn't care.

To 6:25PM ~~ You know this how?

To 6:53PM ~~ He's "making Greece great again." Can't you tell?

SCATS said...

To 6:03PM ~~ I've never understood ANY explanation offered about the difference in names. Until now ... VERY interesting!

SCATS Greece Ridge existed as a Vol FD in the 50s and before. It was a well run Department although you had to keep an eye out for Chief Volkmar running across Long Pond Rd from the Cider Mill when the siren was blowing.

In the era of UNION Professionals from IAFF wedging into new Firefighter jobs and forcing Vols out of Departments the Vols built, Ridge Road Fire District started appearing on truck doors as new equipment came on line. GRFD remained a corporate entity on the State roster of Not For Profit Vol Fire Departments to continue getting 2% money. RRFD a Professional Fire Department is not eligible for 2% money. That is one hell of a bucket of money each and every year, and it goes to GRFD. Somehow a Department with less than 5 members manages to consume the 2% money and spend it on WHAT?

It's the elephant in the firehouse!

What's with all the spy cameras at the town campus ? I counted at least 8 outside Even one inside the spray park booth. Of course you never know what those $10 an hour college kids might do if know one was watching. And let's not forget all the po'ed neighbors that might come over the berm and attack.

We should never forget how the North Greece FD wanted to by a 1.4 MILLION $$$ fire truck. It was voted down. It did not bother those in charge, they bonded it and bought it anyway.
This is how fire districts work, accountable to no one.

Anonymous said...

Rest assured when it comes time to vote on anything fire the firemen will plug the parking lot with their cars and the Wannabe PD will be there to enforce parking regulations.

That's how it works folks.

Not even close. GRFD nor RRFD receives any 2% money

At RRFD The Top Clown runs the organization... The 5 commissioners are just yes men.... There are a lot of things to look at in that Dept... Example who sold the Ridgeway property to the district? Why is a son and son in law climbing the career ladder when they should not? Who builds a firehouse 2.5 miles from another one? How is the Head Clown fit for duty????

SCATS said...

To 9:14AM ~~ ALL are great questions. With NO accountability or oversight we'll never get answers. I wonder if we could get Berkeley Brean interested , hmmm ... ?

Thanks go out to the IAFF member who posted at 3:00 PM for blowing smoke at us.

Did Greece taxpayers get reimbursed yet for the Pumping trip taken down to the South end of the State to help with flooded cellars yet?

Did RRFD and NGFD IAFF members who went on the trip get paid overtime for that deal?
Who paid that cost?

Did the worn out pumps get replaced on Greece taxpayer's dime?

Even IAFF Members from the City Fire Department call the scam at RRFD and NGFD obscene.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Don't forget about Bobby the puppet

At 0757 this morning North Greece Fire Department made its last radio dispatch transmission from NG Fire Headquarters at Latta and Mt Reid.
This action transferred all Fire Dispatch for N Greece to 911 Center.

The media release says the Comissioners did this to save spending $100,000 on new computer and radio equipment. It does not mention any salary saving for Dispatchers who will no longer be needed at N Greece FD. That salary saving should be considerable since NGFD will no longer be dispatching for NGFD, Barnard FD, Lakeshore FD and GVA.

Lets not even talk about how much money was spent by NGFD buying expensive radio and computer equipment over the last 5 to 10 years during which the Dispatch function could have been served by 911 Center.

How much will North Greece Fire Taxes go down?
NOT 1 damn cent is my bet.
