I doubt that they have any idea what their State Aid will be yet. Can't do much without that number. They can project anticipated spending and revenue but without the state figure they can't talk about tax levy or anticipated tax increase or cuts that must be made to their spending beyond fixed costs in the budget. I would bet they have enough in reserve accounts to meet the mandated state increase .Its up to the board to lean on them to free up some of those slush funds to comply or present a zero based tax increase For every million in reserves committed it would reduce the tax increase by approximately 1%.This is the responsible way to cook the books.

My understanding is that board members still do not have a copy of the latest Teacher's contract, nor do they know how much the cost will be over the life of the contract. It is still being "negotiated." How can that be if the board voted to approve it? And, how will the board adopt a budget if they don't know the cost of this union contract? Since union contracts about 75% of the cost of our annual budget, why doesn't the board know the cost??? If the board is limited to a .12% budget increase over last year how do they think the taxpayers are going to pay for it????

I want to know how much money the taxpayers will be saving this year on gasoline used by our bus fleet since the price of gas is down almost by half over last year. The super budgeted X amount of $$$ for gas for 2015-16 and we have spent so far???? Perhaps this is how the board figures it will pay for another do nothing, worthless to the taxpayers, teacher contract!

To 7:31PM ~~ That's a very good point! And because of the mild winter, heating costs should also be much lower than a year ago. These budgets are quite the scam ... so many places to squirrel away $$$.
