Three Reasons To Support The GCSD Budget ...

1 - Uhmmm ....

2 - Well ...

3 - Because ... ?

Can YOU come up with three reasons?

Umm?? We (the public) like spending more money for nothing.
Well?? District employees need more money in there pocket.
Because?? We just love the results!!

Budget up only 3.6%. Seems less than past.

Tax rate up only 1.36%. That's even less for locals. Seems like they are doing something right.

If my taxes only increase 1.36%, how could I do better?

To 3:56PM ~~ We love your "because" reason!

To 5:29PM ~~ You have just identified yourself as one of the many sheeple GCSD depends on!

The "budget" is "up only 3.6%" yet enrollments CONTINUE TO FALL and are expected to decline by another 150 or so students next year! This means we are SPENDING MORE TO EDUCATE FEWER STUDENTS! In fact, by next year, enrollment might fall under 11,000 ... nearly 4,000 students lost, yet the BUDGET GROWS ANNUALLY! WHY???

You must also realize that the "budget" is just the tip of the iceberg! It does NOT include CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS. It does NOT INCLUDE BUS PURCHASES!

It also does not include a stadium, lighted fields, a bus wash facility or any of the other "wishes" DO has conjured up.

So in response to "How could I do better?" please consider a NO vote!

A great opportunity to show Albany and Washington that we don't care if they increase spending and taxes also. Albany sends us record state-aid increase and the district says we want more $$. Don't let the people think a year can go by without more taxes.

Inflation? Health Care? Insurance? Utilities? Technology? The costs to run a stagnant or dying business grow every year. What if the Greece "sheeple" had nowhere to send their schoolchildren because people like you convinced the District to shut down? Show me the results and cost per pupil to replace what we have in Greece by Sept. 1 starting now!

SCATS said...

To 7:52PM ~~ You hit the nail on the head about the RECORD STATE AID!

To 8:49PM ~~ I don't understand your question about showing you results by Sept. 1. Results of what? Summer school?

You are correct that GCSD appears to be stagnant (best case), maybe dying. At what point do costs decline to meet with lower enroollment? We bleed out 4,000 students but barely touch the number of teachers and continue to buy more & more buses! It's nuts!! Something is wrong with this picture. But hey, our BOE will be DOMINATED by GTA after the upcoming election. Better practice your ankle-grabbing form now!

It's not hard to see what's going on at GCSD. The contract approved by the board last month says it all. Another worthless, do/nothing, give/away and without one word about the additional cost and or the educational benefit - a true lack of respect of taxpayers. Are taxpayers (voters) going to indorse this type of conduct?
Public education and GCSD = entitlement on steroids.
VOTE NO

Contracts exist by law. Go to Albany and get it changed. Otherwise stop bitching about them, geez

Anonymous said...

Charlie,

WHY DON'T YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!! You complain NON STOP on this board but do nothing about it!

-Be The CHANGE, DON'T BE THE ROADBLOCK!

-Kurt Jensen

SCATS said...

To 4:45PM ~~ It is the BOARD of EDUCATION that approves them, not Albany!

To Kurt Jenson ~~ FYI, Mr. Hubbard was the change!! He created policy that our BOE adopted and are EXPECTED to abide by. They don't!! THE BOE IS THE PROBLEM, not Mr. Hubbard.

CLOSED, CLUBBY & CORRUPTED ~ GCSD's BOE.

Hey Kurt, when you have had a real job for a while you can chime in otherwise be a good boy and be quiet.
( real job means 8 to 4:30 half hour unpaid lunch and callouses on your hands from real work.) Nah I did not think you were interested.

Didn't Mr. Hubbard walk off the board of education during his term? I don't see how that is helping change. Just because you don't agree or like something does not mean you get a pass to quit, or turn your chair around and put your back to people like a child throwing a tantrum. If my children sign up for a sport or an activity and they decide they do not like it they know they have to finish it out, you made the commitment so you see it through. You do not have to continue once you are done.

Why doesn't SCATS who is the biggest whiner finally really do something and run for school board? Afraid your skeletons might pop out?

Charlie Hubbard said...

Mr. Jensen; you can try to make this 'personal' to avoid dealing with real issues. The real issue today is GCSD wants to increase spending by over $7.5 million for 'fewer' students - yes record increases in state-aid (free money) and they want increases in property taxes on top of that to add to the highest property taxes in the country. If I can be a 'roadblock' in getting voters to say NO to this insanity then I will wear that label with pride.

SCATS said...

To 9:39AM ~~ You MUST be new here. The reason is very simple: Running for the BOE is FUTILE, because it takes FIVE VOTES to accomplish anything on the Greece Board of Education.

Charlie ~~ I would also add that with the extra state aid AND the extra $7.6 million, buses, capital improvements and other wish list items are NOT included in the budget! Those add even more to the taxes.

Anonymous said...

People have said that SCATS is more than one person closer to four or five. If it really takes 5 votes to get things done then if you all run and win you would have the 5 votes eventually to have the votes to further your agenda of change

Anonymous said...

What policy was that?

SCATS said...

To 7:06PM ~~ Good point. But then again, WHY should we have to run for BOE to have laws, policies & rules that are ALREADY IN PLACE followed??

To 7:10PM ~~ Policy # 6431. It requires them to know and have the cost figures available AND discussed in open session BEFORE voting.

If you have 5 people who share the same views as this blog, why not run? No, you shouldn't have to, but if you can please do!

SCATS said...

To 9:52AM ~~ Shouldn't have to AND don't want to. The election is TOMORROW! Do you have any idea the expense, the time & energy it would take to get name recognition for THREE WRITE-INS??

Anonymous said...

Cause you and your very limited number of supporters "after 8+ years"(your quote) of exposing the faults of GCSD have no verifiable success in changing anything. I believe that 9:52 suggests that perhaps you and your very few detractors ought to $h!t or get off the Pot! And please don't even begin to attempt an explanation of how your Blog has even begun to make any improvements to the District. Had you achieved any impact, there would be no reason to continue for 8+ years.

SCATS said...

To 8:11PM ~~ Oh come on, Frank! You KNOW better than that! LOL In reality it just kills you to realize this BLOG is well on its way to its 10th year anniversary. That "limited number of supporters" averages around 1000 visitors/day now. More than chump change!

Anonymous said...

I isn't Frank, but my post is very frank. Your visitors "ain't" supporters. They are mostly merely the curious seeking to see what nonsense is posted here. If you are lucky enough to hit 60% favorable to your opinion (and it's truthfully unbiased by selection of the moderator), and 10% are posting, that's 60 supporters and 40 opposed. In a Town as large as Greece, that is "CHUMP CHANGE".

Anonymous said...

Rebuttal not posted? Aw shucks, I must have hit yet another nerve! I guess my not being Frank, but being earnest (and not Frank) caused your censoring. It's all about reality, statistics, perception, intent, and in this BLOG's case - thinking it's something it ain't (isn't). 30 new posts per week from over 7000 visitors per week is not chump change, it's DOG $h!???. Do you really think you can go one on one with me? If so, why are my pertinent and logical posts left out of the discussions taking place here? Does the Math offend your biased, unsupported, and illogical rants?

SCATS said...

To 5:51PM ~~ Your OP landed in the SPAM bucket. How appropriate :)

Where do you get your figures? 30 new posts per week??? LMAO!!! This BLOG does quite well and our FB page does even better.

BTW, don't look now, but SCATS has scooped the latest three Supt. stories ;)

Anonymous said...

Counting is easy. Add em up for a week, subtract your posts, and then average them. Or do the same over 52 weeks per year for 10 years. What do you get? E.G. 17 in this thread for 6 days is 3 per day. How many views per day got that many comments?

And BTW, as you so eloquently admitted, you do filter. To 5:51PM ~~ Your OP landed in the SPAM bucket. How appropriate :) Cuter but very informative regarding the bias you infer!

SCATS said...

To 5:43PM ~~ Your methods must be using the new math that kids can't understand and their parents can't help them with! In reality, there are nearly 60,000 posted comments on just over 3900 threads.

The comment about the SPAM bucket is NOT an admission to filtering. It's acknowledgement that GOOGLE sometimes misdirects comments into a different file folder where ads and other nuisance notices containing links and such go. Nice try though ;) lol

SCATS said...

BTW, since this week leads into a holiday weekend, things are slower than typical.

Aah the webs we weave. 1000 viewers per day over 10 years = 3,650,000, is a long stretch from 60,000 posters. See my math ain't so bad. I see it as a 60,000/3,650,000 illusion. In other words, you are .016% correct without the 60/40, 70/30 correction added for pro/con bias in the comments.
Comments Welcome

To 6:13PM ~~ Why try to win an argument you don't have the data for? Because you detest this BLOG lol

The data I gave to you doesn't cover the entire 10 yrs in every case. Google only started tracking pageviews a few years back. Again, nice try. I'll end this game now. You can not win it. MEOW :)
