Tuesday Special BOE Meeting, 7PM

Now we know where the extra State Aid $$ will be spent!
Instead of reducing the budget cost to taxpayers, more $$ for fogging the mirror 180 days/year.

PARENTS: Are you aware the district has cut your children's education by several school days?

Students in grades K-8 will now be done with school on Tuesday June 23rd (a half-day), instead of Thursday June 25th.

Bigger GCSD Budget = Higher Taxes

 Charlie Hubbard said...

Think property taxes are not high enough? Think property taxes are having a negative effect on any economic resurgence of our area and town? Think the increase in state-aid was enough to put an end to more school tax increases? Well you are wrong. Your school district and school board last night made it very clear that THEY are not interested in cost containment. THEY do not think that THEY should be a part of making our town a leader of economical resurgence.
At this point I will use just 2 items.
Enrollment 'down'!!!
Spending 'up' over $$$ 7.5 MILLION $$$ and of course 'higher' property taxes to pay for it. This is what was approved by the school board - the rational? - it's ok because other districts want to do the same thing.
Greece 'residents' will have their voice on May 19th.

4/15/2015 7:14 AM
SCATS ~~ Yup, enrollments will be down another 150 (projected) but an extra $7.5 million is needed!?!? WHY??? This enormous $217+ million budget does NOT include buses or capital improvements!

Mall Fight Ignored By Media

From Craigslist:

Another fight at Greece Ridge Mall (Greece Ridge Mall)

Well another fight broke out in the food court during the busy peak Saturday afternoon time frame and not a word was said about it anywhere on local media.

The fight took place right in the food court area and they proceeded to knock over tables all over the place to get after each other.

It is a shame that thugs have to cause problems at the mall in Greece.

Frank Oberg Doesn't Understand "NO!"

Oberg Wants Stadium Revoted

At this evening's BOE meeting about the budget, BOE member Frank Oberg expressed dismay about the outcome of the recent vote on the stadium project.

Oberg stated that he "doesn't understand" why so many came out in the numbers that did to oppose it!

Oberg urged the BOE to consider a revote on it as soon as May!

SCATS ~~ This response is predictable! "No" never really means "no" in Greece Central. Never mind that a significant number of voters appeared just to express their displeasure with this project!

Some food for thought, Frank ...

  • Could it be the lies told by the 28 member committee about the State Aid reimbursements?
  • Could it be the lack of transparency in the numbers used by Greece Central?
  • Could it be the community recognized a TRULY BAD FINANCIAL DEAL when they saw one?
  • Could it be that even the in-school voters don't value this white elephant?
  • Could it be the taxpayers don't want their children paying on the project well into their adulthood, especially when the $$ to build it was already on hand?
  • Could it be the Greece community just doesn't value sports as much as the noisy minority thinks?
The answers to ALL OF THE ABOVE ~ "YES!!"

The community spoke, loud and clear! By a margin of almost three to two, they shouted "NO!"
