The Truth About GCSD's Problems

Sean McCabe, BOE Prez.  ~~ "When you're looking at a $100 million plus project, there's so much going on and in so many areas it's difficult to have the level of oversight that's needed."

SCATS ~~ Gee, imagine that he and 8 other BOE members oversee an annual budget that exceeds $200 million!! Now we know why Greece Central is in such sorry shape!

elaine G screwed up that project not our current board. She refused to listen to the custodians, teachers, etc who were able to see many of the issues as they happened.

To 11:34AM ~~ The point is our current BOE deal with an ANNUAL budget that is more than twice that amount and they are NO BETTER.

When you combine "Educated" fools with Paid "Professional" Experts who cannot function 1mm beyond their Discipline and won't look beyond the guidelines or listen to anyone not a member of their club, you have guaranteed DISASTER.

Pathetic is the 2016 Standard of Acceptable, Mediocre has been determined to be impossible to reach.

Bow to the Expert, pay up and express gratitude!

I guess I am still scratching my head as to how the Super continues to get away with the things she does. I have watched as her consolidation went through without a hitch from the board. My son unfortunately is suffering from the brain storm of hers to keep Paddy Hill open and close the newer bigger school. Now my son is stuck in a building that is busting at the seams. Kids are tripping over each other. Physical education classes are a joke, the teachers don't even have use of the full gym most of the time to hold class. My oldest is graduating, along with a bunch of students that have no right to be. One of them being his friend who has openly admitted to me that he doesn't know how he is. He is a nice kid but he has fallen between the cracks and has become comfortable with being lazy. He has told me that he does not even try anymore because he knows he will be given a passing grade even if he doesn't turn assignments in. Some teachers have even told him he doesn't deserve the bare minimum grade but their principals instruct them to pass everyone and push them through to graduation per the supers desire to increase her graduation rates up. Kids can't be pushed through. We are not preparing them for the real world. I also learned that some kids are allowed to come in after school for some after school academy to make up work that they miss during the day because they can't get their buts up on time to school. To me we are rewarding laziness and encouraging poor work ethic and behavior. Why are such poor ideas allowed to continue and why doesn't this board stop this nonsense she is peddling before she does even more damage. I attend many events and am active in the community as well as volunteering in the schools and I can honestly say I have not heard people say many positive things about the current direction the district is taking or the super. I don't know what wares she is peddling them but they obviously are not interested in he opinions of the average parent or community member. I am afraid that if something does not change drastically soon that there will not be any hope of salvaging what is left of what used to be a great district. Do we need a few good board members with backbones and that are not afraid or ask some good questions and aplly pressure. I hope some good candidates come forward.

To 9:43PM ~~ It takes FIVE BOE members to accomplish anything. We feel your pain, but in reality, Greece is likely to continue its slide down the slippery slope ... all the way to bottom.
