Remember, vote early & vote often.

You have to balance the votes cast by UNION employees of Greece Central Sports District.

Extra ballots can be had by voting friends and neighbors as absentees just like the District staff does.

Remember, STUPID kids NEED a Stadium. Vote NO on the budget so more money will be Stadium Ready.

I just got my District News Letter on the proposal. It was very well done and answered some questions that I had regarding the lighted stadium. After looking at the proposal and the taxing implication attached in my tax situation,,and because I have the enhanced star deduction, I see no reason why I cannot support this project. Besides I think it will have a positive reflection on the whole town. Depending on the weather, I probably will vote yes on all propositions.

To 2:52PM ~~ Did that "newsletter" explain the maintenance & future replacement costs associated with a turf field? Did it tell you why Pine Brook needs a playground that costs as much as a new home ($225,000)? Did it explain WHERE people are going to park 2600 cars on football night? Did it tell you what additional security measures they plan to utilize to ensure traffic control and saefty in the neighborhoods near Arcadia? Did it mention that since school districts DO NOT need to abide by local ordinances, only those under NYSED, that they could have a carnival running until 3AM on that field?

NO?? Hmm ... I'm SURE you'll get MORE than what you've bargained for!

to 2:52 - there's a lot of stuff I can afford, but it doesn't mean I ought buy it.

Don't forget the board and Super have b*tched about the budget (which isn't included here) for the last 6 years. They cut classes and all sorts of other amenities to the students. What makes this a good deal?

I read that letter to. I think the letter was meant to explain the costs contained in the plan and not the logistics that you talk about. I'm sure those concerns you mention will be worked out during the approval and implement ation
Process. Implementation without addressing these items plus public safety issues would be short sighted as well as totally irresponsible. Regarding local ordinances do you really believe the district openly disregard them and open a rift between them and the public officials.please tell me of an instance that the district has openly disregarded local ordinance in the way you say.

Scats I don't think you read the letter but if you did you will see that most of the issue you complained about to 2:52 were addressed in the letter. First off they never said parking for 2600 cars. They said AMPLE parking . They did say that the stadium would seat 2600 people not cars. To me that tmeans closer to 1300 cars they did address the cost of replacement along with a possible fifteen year warrantee from the successful supplier and installer. Cost to maintenance and lighting costs were mentioned as well as the reasons for picking Arcadia while I think I understand your dislike for the project I think your concerns are overstated .

To 4:56PM ~~ YUP!!! The BUDGET VOTE which will include the extra buses yet again (for transporting FEWER students) will be in May and ADD EXTRA COST to your taxes.

To 5:38PM ~~ You sound like you helped plan for the arrival of the Fast Ferry to Charlotte! I remember reading how they didn't worry about little details, like Customs & Immigration issues, until the boat was on its way to upstate! As for rifts between public officials, SURELY YOU MUST JEST!!! lol

To 6:02PM ~~ I haven't gotten the letter yet. However, they DO NOT KNOW HOW MANY WILL SHOW UP AT THE GATES?! Nope!

How many cars does "AMPLE PARKING" accommodate?? No idea!! There should be numbers associated with those claims! If they can hold Section IV games, then there is no telling how many cars/people will attempt to attend. BTW, who will cut-off the number entering at 1300? Some HS student?

As for the "15 year warranty" I am calling BULL FEATHERS!! I already addressed this on SCATS' FAQs. They plan to request a 15 year warranty which is far outside any actual warranty given. They (and YOU) won't know if their "request" will be honored until long AFTER the vote!

Their costs to maintain & operate are also in the BULL FEATHERS category! They only claim they need purchase a $2500 machine, but that doesn't follow any mfrs guidelines for PROPER FIELD maintenance ;)

My concerns will be the entire area's concerns if these questions aren't properly addressed BEFORE it's built. LOOK AT APAC!!

They will get their sports district. The rest of us will get to grab our ankles for years to come. Typical Greece.

Scats thank you for your reply mostly speculation . You did not answer my question about instances where the school district violated the town ordnances you. Claim they can do.

SCATS said...

To 6:03AM ~~ My reply to you contained what speculation? That you are a lousy planner and might have worked to bring the fast ferry to Rochester? LOL

Here's an instance that happens all around town as soon as the fields open for practice or play: They violate the NOISE ORDINANCE by blasting mics & music. Any other questions??

Anonymous said...

yes the noise ordinance deals with a specific time frame I believe it is between 11pm and 7 am.have they done that as far as you know as you describe.if not there is no such violation if outside those hours.you are still speculating that they can't handle traffic for special events. has to be considered as speculation on your part as there are no facts available to support that claim Funny you should mention the Ferry. I didn't plan it but I did work on board as a part of it's crew. Good idea wrong boat.

SCATS said...

To 1:41PM ~~ There is a lot more to the noise ordinance than time of day (which varies depending upon the activity, etc.) I am talking DECIBELS.

Again, as I previously stated, GCSD does NOT need to comply with any local codes, including Noise Ordinances!! They are expected to comply with (on a good day) NYS Education Law, period.

I am NOT going to argue the point. SHOW ME I AM WRONG (which I already know I am not!), or just keep it to yourself.

Scats before U sound off on the town noise ordinance, I invite your attention to Par.139-6 sub par B. Of that document. If you do you will see how wrong. U R.regarding the proposed stadium noise implications.

Scats I have a relative question related to the topic of this thread. I don't live in Greece. I live in Brockport and do read this blog. This topic has caused me to ask this question. Why all the negativity on this site regarding your town.
It seems to me that the theme of this site has a negative aspect of anything that happens in Greece. I have yet to witness your support of any actions of town government
You are critical of Your police and fire departments and your school district, athletic programs , various subdivisions of public services
Thus my question. Can you tell me one or two things about your town that you take pride in and has your support? There must be something positive in your thinking about Greece.things just can not be that bad. Maybe Iam wrong.

SCATS said...

To 3:30PM ~~ I'm not wrong. I'm right & you just proved it!

The language specifically EXCLUDES these events from the COMPLYING WITH THE ORDINANCE!

Aside from SEQR act compliance, it will be up to NYSED.

To 3:56PM ~~ We're NOT the Chamber of Commerce. Their job is to promote the community, is it not? We're more an editorial forum for airing public opinion.

To 2/26/2015 3:56 PM ~~ Look at the "updates" to news from Greece that came out yesterday (Friday) afternoon. It should provide MUCH insight about your questions.

One thing I particularly want to point out is how the Town et all are stuck in a pattern of putting out such news JUST BEFORE THE WEEKEND ... praying the media's questions will grow cold over a two day period with a second striong covering the "news."
