McCabe: Lauds GCSD Response To Olympia Fights

Markwheadon.com

At last night's Greece Board of Education meeting, Greece school board Prez. Sean McCabe patted GCSD & Greece Police employees on the back for stomping out the racially-charged fire that caused a dozen Greece Olympia students to rumble in the streets a week ago.
  • There was NO MENTION of the underlying problems, or their causes, at Olympia HS.
  • There was NO MENTION of the total failure of GCSD's anti-bullying efforts.
  • There was NO MENTION of what GCSD needs to do to prevent further gang fights.

Three good questions - however I have seen anything Scats would suggest.

To 1:55PM ~~ How about translating that into English?

OK... Your proof that it is gang related, or bullying?
Are your stated facts those that are non existent or those purported by media now proven false by GCSD and GPD, or just fodder that attempts to ignore truth in an effort to further a personal negative agenda?

To 6:18PM ~~ ASK THE KIDS!

Where is YOUR PROOF?? GCSD makes statements without a word to back it up, typical head-up-the-arse mentality of the overpaid "leaders."

It is a FACT that GPD has attempted to downplay the existence of the local gang that goes by SWAG Money (or sometimes SWAG $$). Pretending they aren't important doesn't make them fantasy, not even over the last 10+ years.

6:18 - I graduated OHS 15 years ago, Class of 1999. At that time, there was an undercurrent of racial tension within the school that administration barely dared to whisper about. Why would you think anything improved in such a culture of denial?

Let's face it. Most of the incidents reported on this blog are not based on facts. Mostly personal impressions, hearsay and rumors deigned to create controversy and mistrust .Any attempts to present an opposing view are met with indignation and shouting insults in defense of the official position portrayed by the agenda of this blog on a particular thread. Odds are this post never sees the light of day as it portrays a truth . Something rarely posted here.

To 7:27PM ~~ Sadly, the troubles pre-date even the late 1990's! TY for sharing though.

I see crickets are quietly chirping in response to my request from 6:18PM for the "PROOF" GPD & GCSD supposedly provided (to whom? by whom? when? where? show us!!) that there was no bullying or gang involvement.

In truth (keyword), NY State's anti-bullying laws covers what happened on Olympia Dr. : bullying includes intentional efforts to harm one or more individuals, may be direct or indirect, is not limited to behaviors that cause physical harm, and may be verbal (including oral and written language) or non-verbal. Certainly, causing physical harm in a fight set-up by the internet/cell phone blast, etc. is covered.

To 7:25AM ~~ RE: "Most of the incidents reported on this blog are not based on facts."

YOU MUST BE BLIND!! The typical BLOG post has one or more LINKS highlighted in blue!!

I don't dream this crapple up. I'm not that imaginative!

Your future rants (you write-in often and always to argue about something YOU FAIL TO BACK-UP) about content that lack specific examples of what you contend will be deep-sixed, since editorializing about the generalities of the BLOG, its authors & topics are NOT the thread topic.

Scats, you are correct. I misspoke, and I apologize. I should have said "most of the comments" are not based on facts. Your reports usually include the source for the incident.
When I started reading the blog I thought that most of the comments on the topic wee writers' opinions because very few are supported with links, etc.

SCATS said...

To 1:40PM ~~ TY for the apology. I accept it.

Reader's comments are often based upon personal experiences. There are no links for that sort of thing, however, that doesn't make the info they share less valuable.

One purpose of this BLOG is to share such info. It's the best way I know to fight against the "divide & conquer" mentality our local leaders use.

A great example of that happened last week when Babs issued a statement following the fight on Olympia Dr. stating that the district was willing to "meet with individual parents." God forbid should they call for a community forum for such an important conversation as dealing with gangs, racism & bullying in the Greece schools. If they keep the people who know what's really happening from sharing with the rest, they can try to keep the lid on the pot awhile longer. Sooner or later, someone's going to get burned badly.

6:18 back
Isn't one innocent until proven guilty?
Therefore by extension, the Law states that you and your supporters burden is to prove that it occurred as either racially and/or gang related, I don't need to prove that it didn't.
Review the video and state the races of those involved! Review the video and find me "gang" colors! Review the video and quote verbiage that is either racial or gang related in context!
BET YOU CAN'T.
CRICKETS???

To 5:37PM ~~ First, you need to read my earlier posting today. Under NY State law and NYSED Law & GCSD policy, the fight & its organization conform to the VERY DEFINITION OF BULLYING!

Also, in schools there are NO TRIALS, no juries, etc. They rely on internal policy. So no, this has nothing to do with the real world where law rules.

In school, if you defend yourself in any way, YOU will be punished as if you threw the first punch. Read the GCSD Code of Discipline if you don't believe me. This is widely known & FACTUAL. Why do you think GCSD was so damned hot to find out WHO made the recording? SO THEY COULD PUNISH THE KID!! Kind of funny since the video was the only way they could determine who was involved! Destroy the evidence & it never happened, right?

I listened to students who participated and/or watched the fight say it was racially motivated and gang related. As soon as those words went out on the airways, Greece Central issued a statement denying it - no time for ANY investigation to determine anything at that point. Just because they say it isn't doesn't make so, especially when these troubles keep popping up year after year after year at the same school!

Since YOU said that GPD & GCSD PROVED THOSE CONTENTIONS TO BE FALSE, YOU MUST SHOW US YOUR PROOF ... if you expect anyone to believe you!

Back to the crickets ... and I will await the proof for 24 hrs. before posting anything more on this thread. I'm thinking it's going to be very, very quiet ...

SCATS said...

BTW, the charges brought against many of the kids included "Unlawful assembly" which is defined as: " A person is guilty of unlawful assembly when he assembles with four or
more other persons for the purpose of engaging or preparing to engage
with them in tumultuous and violent conduct likely to cause public
alarm, or when, being present at an assembly which either has or
develops such purpose, he remains there with intent to advance that
purpose."

It is found in the Penal Laws of NY state immediately following "Inciting To Riot."

It's fact ;)

I messed up my attempt to post a comment that I attempted to withhold (due to the timing of it) after posting it. Now I can't get it back, so my only alternative is to copy & paste it. Here it is:

I worked at OHS in the early 80's and there was racial tension then as now. That is a problem that is in every school district. Its how the district deals with the problem thats important and GCSD has never admitted to having a problem with it and continue to bury their heads in the sand and hope it goes away. The administration has always been gutless when it comes to confronting problems and always will be.

THANK YOU, 5:34AM!! ANYONE WHO HAS PAID ATTENTION KNOWS YOU SPEAK THE TRUTH!!

First, does quiet infer you won't keep a thread alive by posting an innocuous follow up?

And now back to topic!

School Districts are in fact bound by two sets of statutes... Education and Penal. The problem begins at the point where the two diverge and the effort it requires to maintain some semblance of balance between the two.
Have you read, watched, and taken the time to look at the fact sheets presented by the PD and GCSD regarding the statements made by persons making statements but were later proven to be fabrications.
That said, renders many of the media interviews, student statements, and accusations as false. Which leads an objective observer to question the original postulations of your thread.

Finally, yes schools now use a legal process, incorporating attorneys, a "judge", witnesses and all other manner of legal proceedings to establish guilt and consequence.

Your turn CRICKET!

SCATS said...

To 5:42PM ~~ AGAIN you've FAILED TO DELIVER YOUR PROOF!!

Instead of asking if we've "read, watched, and taken the time to look at the fact sheets presented by the PD and GCSD" why don't YOU PROVIDE US THAT INFO?? I'm guessing it's either because it doesn't exist, or you can't ... because it doesn't exist.

When you say GPD & GCSD "presented fact sheets" WHO DID THEY PRESENT THEM TO??

What the heck am I to make of "judge" in quotes?? You sound just as full of crapple now as the original post. If you want to be believed, provide copies (you can email them to me) of what you say is "fact." We will be waiting ...

SCATS said...

As predicted, no "proof" has been provided that either GPD's or GCSD's investigation ruled out gang involvement or racial issues as factors contributing to the fight on Olympia Dr.

There was a fact sheet posted on the districts website I believe of maybe Thursday and Friday of that week. It was one of those I announcement pop up things like I have seen them use when they close schools. I have no idea where it is located now since I haven't had to go to the website for anything as of lately. I did not see a police fact sheet so I am not sure that one exists. The poor student behavior that exists and that I see walking by my home after and before school is hugely to blame on parents. Some allow this behavior in their home and very often their behavior is emulated when they leave. When disciplined I school I am told that the parents often come acting the same way and are asked to leave as well. It is a learned behavior. If you are not taught respect and there is no consequences for it at home that same pattern will follow at school. And from what I have witnessed and heard most of these behavior problems as well as low test scores come from students and familes that don't even live in Greece. Until the district takes action on the theft of service that is rapidly growing this is only going to get worse. Why doesn't the district look in to things that sound suspicious. The kids know it's a hokey situation when a classmate says they live I a two bedroom. Apt. with ten other people. Apparently if fill paperwork out the district just looks the other way. It seems that the rules for attending this district has become even easier since our latest super has come. In light of the Spencerport urban suburban announcement I would be willing to wager that this Idea will be the next feather in her cap brainstorm if a bad idea.

SCATS said...

To 10:47AM ~~ I'm wondering if the fact sheet was something with figures from the annual BEDS data they are required to report to NYSED in Oct. That would include things like numbers on free/reduced lunches, racial/ethnic percentages by group, special ed numbers, and so on. Since they just had that info in the BOE minutes recently, that might be it.

About the theft of services, the "proof" for attending is too little, too late.

One of our more ridiculous BOE specimens already suggested GCSD consider the Urban-Suburban program as a source for potential "additional future revenue streams." Read that as: MONEY-MAKER.

Thanks be to God at GCSD for this past week of quiet and the impending 2 more with School on recess. I guess PD, Taxes, and budget will have to reemerge as SCAT's front page news... Ya know I just gotta keep ya reading anyway I can! Oops, my bad, I see I have already shifted focus now that all the SCATCRAPPLE I posted about GCSD that wasn't is gone from the news.
