Making Sense of Video Evidence In Greece

GREECE CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION

  • We want the video/s of the Olympia fight found & destroyed
  • We want the person who recorded it found & punished
  • GCSD: does not want to deal with the facts or the reality of what happens within their schools ~~ Parents would freakout if they knew how inept they really are at protecting their kids or keeping them safe.

GREECE POLICE DEPARTMENT ~ Town of Greece
  • Used video of fight to arrest and/or get about a dozen Olympia students suspended for their violent acts
  • Has tested body cams on police officers
  • Will let cops voluntarily wear body cams in the future
  • Phelan ~~ About a week ago, he couldn't tell us if Jared Rene was wearing a cam when he shot Thomas Manza. "It's part of an ongoing investigation."
  • Helfer ~~ This week told a reporter that Jared Rene was NOT wearing a body cam when he shot Thomas Manza. Refused to say if the other officer/s were wearing body cams that day because "It's part of an ongoing investigation."
  • Manza has been charged; Rene is back to work
  • GPD: will use the video cams to their advantage ... when the cops can benefit, not when the public can use it against them...

This whole thing stinks. How can the Greece Police arrest folks who were there watching? How can it be illegal to be in the street not participating when the fight took place? I guess all the folks in Dealey Plaza in Nov 63 must have also unlawfully assembled when JFK took the bullet. Also how is it a suspendable offense to just take a video? I'd want my kid to do so to record the facts if they saw a fight. I guess all the folks who videoed the twin towers on 9/11 would be suspended if from Greece. Ilan Ficus

Ummm, should somebody explain to Babs phone video isn't tape? I mean really, shouldn't the smartest woman in GCSD know video on the web pretty much can't be wiped out?

Probably a few other things Babs ought to know too, like which direction is North, and GCSD is as big of a joke as RCSD when it comes to educating kids.

To 10:08PM ~~ Great examples! They want all of us to stick our heads up our arses like they've done.

To 11:19PM ~~ Maybe I'm at fault here for using the word "videotape" which I've changed. But you are correct. Once on the web, anyone can make their own copy.

Why didn't any of the kids watching call the cops, get help, alert an adult?!?!?! Where's the responsibility?! It makes no sense that this fight broke out Friday and it took the spread of the video to have the proper people alerted to the incident on Monday. That certainly makes the kids standing around watching the event seem pretty guilty of aiding and abetting.

To 1:18PM ~~ My understanding is that one of the students took the video to the Olympia principal & asked to be put into ISS for his own safety. That's how this story got out.

In reality, there are LOTS of fights & other criminal incidents that occur in our district's schools on a rather routine basis. Sadly, we are unaware until someone, usually a student or parent, makes a stink about it. GCSD does NOT want us to know what's really going on in these bldgs.

Funny how GCSD & GPD have hushed the Fight at Odyssey that spilled over to the Greece Hots parking lot.

To 2:43PM ~~ Aside from those who asked on this BLOG if the fights were connected, I've heard nothing to show that they were. But of course, it's possible. If GCSD can keep it quiet, then it's as good as if it never happened, right? ;)

I saw two buses go by the end of the street whilst the brawl was going on.

To 9:25PM ~~ I saw that in the video as well. I think they were on Maiden Ln. The brawl was on a side street. It is an interesting question though: Are GCSD employees expected to call 911 when off campus fights occur within their eyesight? I'm still wondering if no one on Olympia Dr. saw it. Maybe they are all too afraid of these little monsters and the potential for repercussions should they be suspected of calling the cops & ruining the fun.
