Greece Police News You Won't Hear Elsewhere

Walmart Fight Closes Store Early

A reader shared the following little nugget you aren't likely to find reported anywhere else. That doesn't mean it didn't happen though ;)

Dear Scats,

I was in Walgreens Christmas day talking to the cashier and she told me she was at the Northgate Walmart Christmas eve when two girls got into a knife fight inside the store.  They ended up closing the store 3 hours early because of this.

I wonder if this will make it to the police blotter???

I find this interesting due to the fact we already have a chief. I don't know if a deputy chief was ever appointed.
When petitioning the county to hold these exams, the town would have to demonstrate the need for these exams as they represent a significant cost In other words , vacancies exist or are anticipated in the next one or two years
Given the fact that Greece is classified as a Class C town under Suburban and Municipal Town Law, it's quite possible that Phelan came off the wrong list and must take the exam for a Class C town . If this were true, his position of chief would be considered as provisional until he successfully passes the correct exam. The same would apply to someone holding the current position of Deputy Chief.Civil Service Law requires that a provisional appointee, must take the appropriate exam within 9 months of his appointment to that title. This could be one possible scenario in my opinion.

Gee, I wonder who had the recorder, and what he got in exchange for the tape?

I think it was Ex Sargent Ball???? Auberger doesn't recall the meeting. "Of course he doesn't" that would be to difficult for his little brain to remember. Rahn was one of the ring leaders. If we remember right? AfteBall was indicted on the Oliva accident, then the judge drops the indictment. Ball gets his back pay of $60,000.00 and his pension back. Who did the recording? How did Ball get off when he was actually indicted with having a grand jury already? Ball's lawyer claimed that Sargent Ball wasn't informed of the indictment.
A lot money was spent for that. DA Green at the time had him indicted. They had enough to Indite Ball.
Then every thing changed for Sargent Ball. He did lose his badge.

But he got his money and pension back. When he made his deal to give information. It all
disappeared. It is all under disclosure. No one can not know what information he gave to the investigators and the DA. He saved Auberger at the time. Ex Sargent Ball got away for not doing his job on the Oliva accident with no real investigating. Making a deal to talk with the higher level, beat out over a young girls life with out a honest investigation. Who had the recording and how is it out now? They took a young
girl that was killed and just made it disappeare. Covered Sargent Ball for not doing a proper investigation on the whole accident. Just to get what they wanted on the corrupted police unit. I still would never trust that police department. They stick together like flys on the sticky tape hanging up. It also goes for the ones that work down town. Cover up and make things go away and they come out looking good. The system are all cheaters and bunch of flys on that sticky tape hanging.

New York State Report in 2013 showing the GPD did not do the Oliva investigation right. Showing incomplete. A must read
