Number Of Scammed Grows In Greece School Fundraiser

According to 13WHAM News: "More victims have come forward in a coupon book scam.

The victims thought they were buying the "Around the Town" books for a fundraiser at Paddy Hill Elementary School in Greece.

"She's just so adorable, adorable, and that's what sold me on it," said Paul Schramm when asked about the young student who was with her parent selling the books back in September.

Schramm did not realize he was not going to receive the book until police showed up at his home this month. "I had no idea, I expected the books to come but it slipped my mind that they were not here yet."

According to Greece Central School District, Paddy Hill Elementary School did sell the coupon books for a fundraiser.

They sent us the following statement, "It is unfortunate that a school fund-raiser was used fraudulently. We rely on community support to make school fund-raisers successful and are thankful for the generosity of Greece residents. Anyone with questions about the validity of a fund-raising request should call the school's main office."

Greece police say this scam is related to a one we reported last month when people were receiving calls about a coupon book fundraiser selling "Around the Town" coupon books, benefiting the Holmes Road School in Greece.

Police say they do not believe either scam is still going on. Their investigation continues."

SCATS ~~ Please remember, Greece cop Sgt. Jared Renee recently told media that it is illegal to sell items door-to-door in Greece without a solicitor's permit and that this group of sellers does not have a permit. So, just ask those kiddies to show you their peddler's permits!
