Wrong Number Leads To Child Porn Charge

WHEC-TV reports: "A Greece man could be facing up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.

The U.S. Attorney says Gordon Link, 77, has pled guilty to attempted possession of child pornography. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, a woman texted a photo of her 10-year-old daughter, fully clothed with a doll at her birthday party, to her friend. However, the woman accidentally sent the photo to the wrong phone number, which belonged to Link. The court papers say Link then sent several suggestive texts back to the woman about the child’s image. The woman contacted police who then contacted the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force for assistance.
The U.S. attorney says a federal task force officer pretended to be the young child, claiming to be 15 years old, and chatted online with Link. We’re told during several sessions, Link asked the girl to send him nude photos and asked her to meet in person.
We’re told federal agents arrested Link in his home and seized his cell phone. The child pornography charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 or both."

SCATS ~~ IMHO, cell phones should probably be kept for emergencies only! Keeping your info/data safe is NOT guaranteed and difficult to do even for those with technical expertise. Most people don't realize the potential dangers they expose themselves & others to by what they use their cells to do. In addition, too many people are multi-tasking on a cell phone and making themselves vulnerable to accidents/injuries as pedestrians or motorists.

Amen! Please people put the phone down when you're driving. If I see one more person fouling up traffic on Ridge Rd. because they have a cell phone in their face I'll scream. You're going to kill someone! It isn't funny. Stop endangering everyone else.
We preach to our teens not to do this and honestly all I see doing it are people over 25. We should practice what we preach.

To 8:57PM ~~ I think cell phone rudeness tops my list of pet peeves. Hang-up the damned phone! NO ONE wants to hear you argue with your spouse, child, parent, etc. when you are oblivious to blocking the ENTIRE aisle in Wegmans!
