Don't worry, their wives will all tell you how her husband is in a dangerous job and might not come home tonight.

Geez, I knew you had a hard time coming up with relevant things to discuss here, but I never thought you'd start cherry picking from Vara's site.

To 7:08AM ~~ You're right. I don't "cherry pick." Never have. Never will. In fact I posted about this a number of years ago. In light of recent news, it seems a reminder makes sense :)

I fail to see the name of the agency or group that published this list. Why post unsubstantiated , non creditable data without knowing who or what compiled this obvious junk. In short, what is the source of this data and where can I find it published and by whom. Other wise, it is without any merit at all.
If in truth your source is the VARA BLOG, then I may have answered my own question as he is a well known public employee hater, especially cops. Pure garbage from a suspect mind if this be the case.
12:45 A M didn't we just see an example of that.? You need to get more sleep and see things as they really are my friend.

To 2:29PM ~~ OH ... MY ... GAWD!!!!!

I did NOT ... I REPEAT: I DID NOT use Davr V as my "source!!!!!!

That is why I bothered to link my SOURCE to the highlighted blue word: SOURCE !!!! In fact, I seldom post things without citing AND linking to the SOURCE!!

There is an annual list of these jobs compiled. As I previously stated, I've posted about this in the past, though a number of years ago.

BTW, according to Forbes (another "junk" source who also published the list), the info comes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics National Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries ...

Also missing are al the armed forces. Were they ever in the list?

To 10:01AM ~~ I don't know about "ever" but not for the last 2 years. I'm not sure if war fatalities are counted under the Bureau of Labor Statistics National Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries. Good question though.

What people need to keep in mind is that Pierson was the FIRST FATALITY in 55 years! That fact supports the idea that it's not quite as "dangerous" as some would have us believe.

Check your sources. Officer Pierson was not the first fatality in 55 years

To 1:14PM ~~ The first RPD fatality since 1959 .. That's what the media, RPD's Chief & the Mayor have been spewing all week.

"Shooting Death" It maybe the first shooting death in 55 years but it is not the first fatality

Police and fire did make the top 20 though

To 2:36PM ~~ Correct. Dropping dead from a heart attack and being killed in an auto accident are both things most of us could die from while doing our jobs.

To 2:44PM ~~ As are taxi drivers & grounds maintenance workers.
