Oh Boy now there is a fella that knows how to win! The experience is over- whelming!

Well, isn't that just special.

Ol Dave put llovelee in the Mayor's job, and she's just doing magnificently as she treads water waiting for Weezie to stop breathing so she can go to Congress like Uncle Dave promised. That will be a SPECIAL moment, sort of like Special Olympics for Politicians.

Adam walked out too, could this mean he knows the loving couple from Greece has decided he is done?

You really have to admire Dave stepping up from his track record of failed campaigns in Greece to the County job. Will he be able to return Brighton to the R camp?

Is he really the best Democrats have to offer?

OK, Greece republicans: it is now time to get ole Dave's property tax assessment up to date. Just reflect all those improvements he made last year.

Don't get too nasty but an increase of $25,000 seems fair.

Interesting ! Does anyone know who the new Demo leader in Greece is?

Anonymous said...

Best thing that ever could have happened... for the Republicans. Why can't Democrats get out of their own way when striving for success? Sorry but Garretson was a horrible leader for Greece Dems and will be a horrible leader for County Dems. We're doomed.

Surely this will give Rita more power. Lol

Anonymous said...

will the party put more resources into electing at least one dem in Greece. In the past Morelle seemed to concede it

Dave has been lobbying for that job since 2009. Dave and Rita will bring their brand of successful leadership experience in Greece to the rest of Monroe County.
It really makes little difference who runs the show in rthe county as they contribute nothing to anyone's campaign.
The reason, they don't have any to give. They barely raise enough money to support "House Keeping" money to run their headquarters and staff.
When Morreli ran the show, anything left over went into support of his own reelection efforts.
The Brighton party was smart enough to distance themselves from the County Committee years ago and I see no reason for them to change a successful decision.
Not that it means much, but Dave has already lost the Black Caucus of the party.

To 4:46AM ~~ So THAT'S how they decide assessment increases??

To 6:36AM ~~ I suspect Dave knows, if there is one yet.

To 8:30AM ~~ You seem to have a thing for her. She's taken. Try craigslist.

For the record, Morreli was instrumental the 2009 election loss in Greece by the Democrats. He convinced all candidate except one to let the uptown bunch run their campaigns. Adam Bello , Joe's right arm was put in charge. This inspite of the fact that as 10:18 pointed out, they didn't contribute one dime to their campaigns. You see, there was a conflict of interest involved in the election.
It just so happened that Jeff McCanns wife worked for Morelli down town. If Auburger were defeated, Jeff would be out along with his $80,000 salary. I know you will find this hard to swallow, but that election hinged, on that fact. The Dems had to loose. What did they care about Greece any way. The whole committee was all about Irondequoit , their base. Curiously and ironically, not only did they oversee the Greece loss, but they ended up loosing big time in all Irondeqouit races as well Poetic justice if never seen before.
Garretson was Morelli 's point man in Greece at this time. The Town leader had stepped down to run her own race, and Garretson became the unofficial leader in the 2009 election. For his efforts, not his record and his leadership abilities, he has been rewarded for being a good " soldier" for the up town crowd. It's really that simple.
As a foot note to the above facts, Reilich wins and quests who was out of a job that he retained in 2009?

SCATS said...

To 2:08PM ~~ So corruption (conflict of interest, as you put it) is a trait of the Dems. too? Who knew?? lol

Anonymous said...

So who has Dave been grooming to take over Greece Dems?

Anonymous said...

Scats a former gpd officer just got indicted on child porn.

SCATS said...

To 4:31PM ~~ Based upon the other remarks, it doesn't matter. The Dems are doomed in Greece.

To 4:42PM ~~ TY. Another of Baxter's hires ... SMH.

Scats your assessment that Greece Democrats are doomed is on the mark unless changes are made to the local committee. For a start, all members in leadership roles should be purged and all present committee members replaced. I say this for two reasons. Some of these people have been involved with the committee since the Cretaceous period and are confirmed ,avowed losers.
Secondly, and most importantly, they are not qualified to run this town. They have no one with the business credentials and leadership experience to operate a town of this size.
There are people qualified in this town who would be willing to get involved but not under the current conditions existing in the Greece committee. I personally know several individuals who have expressed interest in getting involved and run for office. Two of them are fairly well known successful businessmen, both registered Independents who under the right condition would join the Democratic Party .
Unfortunately, the circumstances to which they refer to, does not exist today in the party. Who in their right mind would want to be party to the dysfunction known as the Greece Democratic Committee and wear a loser label on their back sides.

To 7:19PM ~~ Like I said, it's based upon the remarks of others.

PS ~~ Watch those insults levied toward the Cretaceous period. It's hitting closer & closer to home! lol

I truly hope some 'issues' will be put out there. I hope one of those issues are the tax breaks given out by COMIDA (paid for by the rest of us) without being voted on by our elected officials and of course little to no oversight for compliance. A true example of representative government at it's worst.

PS; I wish Mr. Garretson the best in his new job. Politically we agree on perhaps a 'few' things but for sure you can always talk to him - he is always willing to listen, he is a good neighbor but above all he is a gentleman.

Rochester is Democrat. So is Brighton. The Republicans don't care. The county and the suburbs are Republican. The Democrats don't care. The national committees of both aren't going to bother about the status quo here. The party committee head positions and reps are just titular. This helps them feel important when they get to attend conventions. All the candidates for elections are chosen way high up the ladder. So in Rochester the Dem primaries ,if there are any contested candidate positions, decide the final winner. In the suburbs it is the same. Except the republicans hardly ever have a primary for anything. (hint..the Republicans don't bother about New York State for presidential elections. It is useless.) What is so amusing is the temper tantrum and storming out with their marbles of the dems that didn't get their way. Posturing.

7:34 You are right but it doesn't have to be. The fact is that registered demos in Monroe county have just about pulled even with Repos. Two words describe voter attitudes in the county and town; indifference
and loyalty . The Dems are indifferent the reps are loyal. Both impact voter turn out. On Election Day.
If the Dems were smart enough and could raise a few bucks, they could easily turn this county democratic.
The major difference between the two are at opposite ends of the spectrum. The Reps are cohesive in their approach, have the resources and run candidates with name recognition and are waiting their turn in the pecking order
The Dems on the other hand are split on issues and ideology, as evidenced by the " walk out" over leadership This never happens with the Reps. You stay on message and follow the leader or your out. That's why you don't see primaries in their camp.On the other hand, the Dems have to twist arms to get names on the ballot.
The task for the Dems is three fold. Raise some
money. This would attract quality candidates. And thirdly, and most importantly, message and excite the base and get out the vote on Election Day. Those are the three keys to success for any political party .
Example; the 2009 Greece election. The Dems had a fairly decent slate that year. They had the issues revolving around the scandals at the time. However, they failed to take advantage of the advantage because of three important factors. They lacked the funds to match their opponents. Their message was wrong and weak. They slammed the opposition over the scandals but failed to but forth a message of change and what that would look like as opposed to the way things were at the time. And lastly, and most importantly, they failed to excite their base and give them a reason to vote and work to get them out. As a result, only 8% of eligible registered Demos showed and voted. A sure recipe for disaster for any party. Ironically, the repo turn out was correspondingly low and a golden opportunity for success was lost due to the failure if leadership at the local level as well as the County.
Until they get their house In order, the Dems are doomed to their status of mediocrity.

To 2:21PM ~~ Whenever I've discussed with out-of-town friends/family the problems with our previous Supervisor & the results of the last election where he won by some 400 votes, they are absolutely SPEECHLESS to hear he got re-elected for ANY reason!

Greece residents are so used to the closed, clubby & corrupted govt they are scared to death to try any other flavor, especially the senior citizens. Of course, they ARE the group most likely to vote, too. It's a bad case of the "devil I know is better than the devil I don't." It defies logic.

Ask 3 dollar Dave about his Washington friend. Seems as though he is talking!

To: 7:34 and possibly 2:21.

You express an understanding of Reps and Dems Re: Brighton and others towns, except Irondequoit vascilates and does not fit your mold.

Please comment.

Anonymous said...

8:31 You are absolutely right. Irondequoit is like the Gemini of the suburbs. It's a little bit country and a little bit rock n roll. It has the east and the west all in one. As the community and demographic ages there,it seems they might be turning into Greece across the board. It was very stunning to see they denied a school budget. Who knows? That new developer is improving the area around Cooper and Titus to make even the House of Guitars look respectable. Now if they could get rid of that giant dead mall .... We can't gloat though. Most malls are dying across the nation and Greece seems to be next on the list. For example they have put in new restaurants at our mall trying for the Eastview look. And next to the restaurants is the underbelly of the mall operations with loading docks etc. They didn't think about curb appeal when they were planning.(Look at the view of the new area from Ridge Rd) Now at Eastview the fancy restaurant area has what looks like Italian patios outside. Maybe they thought Greece mall patrons wouldn't notice as they sped away in a stolen car with shoplifted items.

SCATS said...

To 7:43AM ~~ TY for the chuckle!! LMAO

Anonymous said...

Actually that car was the Wilmorite corp speeding out of town with our tax money (the big tax breaks they go for adding on that monstrosity)

Anonymous said...

So who is going to lead the Greece Dems now?

Anonymous said...

7:34pm You said the Dems in Monroe county have just about pulled even with the Republicans! Where have you been, more miss stated facts here. There are over 40,000 more registered Democrats in Monroe County than Republicans. Has been that way for years.

SCATS said...

To 12:18AM ~~ There is NO 7:34PM. MORE misstated facts here, thanks to you ;)

IMHO, WHO CARES anyway? It's a huge peeing contest. "We have more members." ... "No, we have the most!"
