Interesting that this agreement talks about terms that began in July and we know that they have taken possession of the premises but the board signs the agreement Aug 14th. (Or not. Be careful Babs. Julia might not approve and you could be left hanging) Boards cannot sign anything that approves something retroactively. See a NY state court appeal of Dione Goldin where she won when a board tried to vote on something retroactively. This should have been approved and signed by the board before the tenant had taken possession. They just do what they want when they want and how they want in such an arrogant fashion.

Also notice on page 8 that there could be subletting by the charter school. They are only using 1/4th of the building but have lease on all the building and grounds, so if the "landlord" allows they can have their own tenants in the rest of the building. Who will they be? Will they be businesses that make a profit and therefore the property will lose its tax exempt status? Could it be a business that adds lots of traffic to Taybrook? Or will they not lose tax status because we never know what is going on around our school board until after the fact or never? Financially $12,500 for a month is extremely low rent for such an expansive property. For that I could rent the equivalent of 2 storefronts in the Wegmans complex at latta/LongPond. This is certainly 10 times that size as well as having several acres for the tenants exclusive use. Are we the taxpayers of Greece helping to subsidize this charter school for city students by giving it to them at far below the going rate? Aren't we just so charitable? Awww.

To 11:42AM ~~ INTERESTING!! They've been conducting business RETROACTIVELY for quite awhile now! Wouldn't it be fun if they got sued and LOST??

I agree that the rent is way too low! I'm not sure that even pays what we've spent keeping the building vacant all of these months.

Our BOE should be ashamed, very ashamed ... especially people like Frank Oberg who know better but just sit there and let it happen.

Here is a sample of some properties for lease in the area. They have a range of price per square foot per month. None lower than$4 per sf but most around the teens in dollars per sf depending on location. Since the Kirk Rd facility has 48,729 square ft inside the building and they are paying $12,500 per month the rate would be about 25 cents per square foot. That is ridiculous. We should unload that building and force them to buy it. We are losing money by renting it to them. It is not even paying for the property management oversight. It is a loss.

Here is the ad from Nothnagle with approx sf. The county site gives the sf of 48k. This ad says about 53k. We are asking almost 1 and a half million. Either way we are providing a charity service by charging so little for the lease. Mishandling of public monies. Waste of public funds is an offense within the state of NY.

To 4:44PM ~~ TY for showing us all how badly the BOE is hosing the taxpayers in this town. I know even the asking price is way below the stated assessed value of the property.

Greece really has become a ghetto town. The insurgance of City charter schools just proves it.
