A Role Model? NOT!!!

Teachers union honcho Michael Mulgrew unleashed a venomous screed directed at anyone who would dare threaten his beloved Common Core agenda.

“I’ve heard the stories about how Eli Broad, Bill Gates, Joel Klein and a flying saucer full of Martians designed these things to brainwash us all.” ~~ Michael Mulgrew

SCATS ~~ Where do the teachers' unions find these semi-psychotic, bullying personalities to "lead" and represent them? WHY??

Wouldn't it be great if teachers denounced these types, just for once?

It's Greece, what do you expect?

Look down Latta Rd to Town Hall Palace.
How much did the Supervisors new tin recreational roof cost taxpayers because Mr Ego wanted it HIGHER? Extra concrete, extra structural and we have a high roof that MIGHT survive a wind.
How much did it cost for 3 new cars for Town execs? Oddly even under Auggie Dearest the top management didn't get free cars thrown into their compensation package.

Lets not forget Mr Magoo at DPW. The man hasn't even got the license to drive a dump truck and might not be able to distinguish a dump truck from a trackhoe, but he's "running" the show. Didn't we do this once before with some guy named Tom who distinguished himself by repainting all the trucks orange because he could?

They're better than you dumb taxpayers, they have the right connections.

This spring, the state teachers union, (NYSUT), voted out the sitting president and other high ranking union leaders. A big part of the reason was their inaction against the Common Core learning standards. The rank & file teachers are not very happy with SED or the way it rolled out the current standards.

Well if you looked at the details of the common core results, the predicted has happened. The slide at Odyssey seen since the move to Maiden lane continues. Odyssey is now statistically no better than the other Greece schools. And the others did not improve...so all that happened is Odyssey's decline. Sad...from 75th in the nation to an Olympia clone. Shame to you Babs and the BOE! What a wonderful legacy you are leaving for the students of the GCSD...

To 6:39AM ~~ So what you are really saying is that THE FORMER ODYSSEY SCHOOL WAS A SHAM OPERATED WITHIN GCSD, right?

Let's be honest, it was like having our own Charter School ... for "the chosen."

Not saying it was a sham...but am saying that the scores have tanked. And like was said at the Board Meeting during consolidation time, why isn't the discussion about how we replicate the success of Odyssey as opposed to trying to equalize the schools. Equalization bring them down all to the lowest level...Olympia. so we now have a school district with four Olympias. Great legacy there Babs, Frank, and Julia!

To 3:48PM ~~ But it WAS a sham!! That's why there was never any effort to replicate West Ridge's, Pine Brook's or Odyssey's apparent "success" elsewhere in the district! They always knew it could NOT be done, especially not if you retain much of the status quo ... like the ones who are stealing district services.

Don't forget, Odyssey teachers agreed to work there MAKING CONTRACTUAL CONCESSIONS! They ate lunch in the classroom WITH THE STUDENTS. I don't see the day coming where Olympia teachers would ever agree to such a deal unless they got paid some extra $$.

Actually, Odyssey teachers broke State and Federal labor laws as well as their Union contract. It was a condition of employment to work there. To refuse meant exile to the general population. That's why the Odyssey model could never be applied district wide,

To 5:34PM ~~ What Labor Laws did they break? I've never heard that claim before, but it's interesting.
