Do YOU Know Why We Celebrate July 4th?

Sadly, many don't!!
Is that the fault of our educational system?
Or is it the fault of the parents?

I'm sure GCDS teaches the little darlings how well Taxation with corrupt Representation has worked out. After all the BOE serves as a convenient example.

Undoubtedly they also teach about the Yankee victories at Gettysburg & Vicksburg on July 4 as they are teaching Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation did NOT free a single slave in the United States. Probably teach how Maryland remained a slave state till after the war too.

So Reilich can put on a superior fireworks show to anything Auberger ever did.

So Reilich can demonstrate Bill Grace and his Grace & Truth Sports Park are completely unnecessary to the July 4th program.

So Reilich can demonstrate his ability to operate a 5k without inconveniencing the North Greece residents or completely screw up traffic around Town Hall for people running in the streets.

So Me Chief can show off his cute little motorscooters providing light & siren escort for shuttle buses going back to the school.

So the Greece Wanabe PD can once more prove they are clueless, helpless and unable to move traffic.

What are you talking about? Greece put on the most amazing firework show ive ever seen. Everything about the event was well run and well planned. There were no traffic backups at all. I dont know where u went, but it was a perfect afternoon and evening. Once again, the town did something nice for the people and you find away to dump all over it. Why?? It was a brautiful, fun family night. Btw it didnt cost the tax payers a dime. Be grateful insted of bitter.

Just when i thought this blog couldnt get anymore hateful? Here we go! The town does an amazing job putting together a fun, free, safe,day/night for the people of Greece, and all you guys can do is rip them apart. Just a question? What would make you happy?

Something as important as our country's story should be told by parents AND school. The schools have tried to take over much of what parents used to feel was their responsibility (meals, good language skills, family history, ethics and a moral compass, citizenship and responsibility, etc....) but some things should still be expected of parents.

To 9:04AM ~~ I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but there are RESIDENTS OF GREECE WHO ARE NOT HAPPY CAMPERS. Not all of them author this BLOG ;)

To 9:51AM ~~ Why not have the schools BACK OFF on parental tasks and let them TEACH HISTORY like they used to do?? From viewing the video and having been a fan of Jay Leno's 'Jaywalking' segments, it's obvious the younger than 50 crowd mostly don't know basic US history. Just my 2 cents.

Unless I missed it, I don't see where SCATS dumped on the fireworks show last night. We didn't get a great parking spot, but were able to watch from across Long Pond and thought it was pretty good. Have I seen better? Yes, but it definitely wasn't the worst. The police tried to handle the idiots who chose to disregard the barricades, they should've been better prepared though IMO for the turnout. It was the idiot drivers who should be dumped upon.

As for the original question, the origins of Independence Day of course should be taught in school. It's basic history. Parents should also teach their kids about it, and use the July 4th activities to explain why fireworks are used to celebrate the day.

To 3:38PM ~~ You didn't miss a thing. Too many people don't bother reading before commenting on here. AND it shows!

Id rather have a bubble to burst, then sit around and complain non-stop. I was there, the traffic control was amazing and so was the event.. all the residents i saw, and there were a ton, all seemed to have a great time. The people ragging about it, did they even go? If they did, i saw no reason to complain.

To 5:35PM ~~ Just because you saw nothing doesn't mean there weren't problems. The event & transportation covered a large amount of real estate. I doubt you were there to constantly survey for trouble. In reality, I can't imagine an event this big being entirely flawless in its execution. THAT would be miraculous ;)

Where are the unhappy campers?

Anonymous said...

I was there the whole day! What are the problems u refer to?@3:38 did i say SCATS? No! I was talking about12:26's comment, which was clearly a dig towards Reilich and the GPD.. unless u were there, you have no right to post negitive comments. It was a wonderful event. Like i said our family was there from start to finish. I saw no punk kids, no drinking, i saw nothing but good free family fun and amazing fireworks!! The traffic control was great, i thought it would take forever to get through traffic, but we were out as fast as we got in.. pleaze explain what the "Problems" were??

My 7 year old learned all about independence day, she came home and talked nonstop about it. Where do u get your info from? Really?

SCATS said...

To 8:55PM ~~ Your condescending attitude is beyond special! lol

YOU are telling me I have "no right" to decide what comments to post on MY BLOG?????

Guess what? I have EVERY RIGHT. And so, your other half dozen remarks all a couple minutes apart with the SAME misspelled words in each will NOT be posted :)

(Damned! That felt good!)

I was there and it was great! You have to go to Epcot to come close to those fireworks! Good job town.

SCATS said...

To 8:59PM ~~ Your 7 yr. old learned all about July 4th at the Town gathering that YOU didn't attend???

To 11:10PM ~~ Comparing Greece's $20,000 display to Epcot or Disney is pretty lame. Maybe Disney's cut their budget bigtime!

To 5:58: WTF?? Indeed, I was there. Hence my comments on what I saw! Duh. I have every right to comment on what I saw. What gives you the right to tell me I don't have the right to comment?

I've commented on this blog many times, while I don't always agree with some things SCATS says, I don't have to. I've been shown nothing but respect by SCATS and I stand by that.

I will pleaze explain when you learn how to spell.

I might've quoted the incorrect time on my previous comment. But in any case, 8:55, at least I answered the original question SCATS asked in this blog post in my first comment. Did you? Maybe you did but couldn't spell so it was deleted.

SCATS said...

To 2:20PM ~~ TYVM for your compliment :)

Don't worry about 5:58 ... there are 1 or 2 SNERTs posting continual comments on here lately, ALL with the exact same misspelled words ... as if no one would figure it out ;) lol

WARNING!! SCATS has received a number of THREATENING comments in recent days. As always, such comments are NOT posted, but instead, they're reported to Google (the owner of Blogspost which hosts this BLOG) AND RETAINED by SCATS for potential future legal action/evidence, as needed.

Unbelievable SCATS! It's a blog. No one is forcing anyone to read it or agree with your posts. But to take disagreeing to the point of threats is just sad. And then there are those who tell other commenters to mind their own business, again I say if you don't agree with a post or a comment on a post, MOVE ON!

SCATS said...

To 9:57PM ~~ I agree. Sadly, maturity is expected, but can't be required. We've gone through periods of time with threats sent previously. I'm not sure what such folks do when confronted by frustrations with people they see face-to-face. Maybe they make the headlines we end up reading & covering ... ?

SCATS you misunderstood my 8:59 comment, due to my lack of detail. She learned it 1st in school, then learned more at the event from a Vet and a GPD officer. They both spoke to her on the subject for close to half an hour. Of course i was there. I dont allow my children out of my sight. I meant she talked nonstop after learning it in school and bringing home her story and art work. Sorry for my lack of detail.

To 12:41AM ~~ Interesting!

PS ~~ Keep your eye on the cop who invested so much time in your kid WHILE ON DUTY. We don't need any more Pignato types in Greece.

Anonymous said...

Curious scats, what do you seem to be implying regarding an officer just doing his job. It's called public relations and investing in the community. Your reference to a former cop escapes me as to what YOU think the implications are regarding this officer answering a question from this young girl. I'd be interested in some clarification on your part. In my opinion without it you comment is meaningless and confusing.please, share your concerns regarding this officers actions that would cause the parent or any of us to Keep an eye on this cop.

SCATS said...

To 9:50AM ~~ Since you already called my remark "meaningless" then immediately said it was "confusing", it appears to me there is no way to provide YOU with any clarity.

PS ~~ Please don't allow the meaningless to confuse you further ;) lol

@2:20 sorry for my typo, but as always people with no vaild point tend to focus on others mistakes. Your "answer" was an opinion not an answer to the question. Ive read all the comments on this thread, and unless im blind i dont see 1 that answers the question as to why we celebrate the 4th?? So your "at least I answered SCATS question" comment, is as ridiculous as you are. No need to respond, your opinions mean less then nothing to me. Have a nice night, and try to find some joy in your life. :)

To 11:02PM ~~ Actually, few things can kill what might otherwise be a very compelling argument more than a show of ignorance. Misspelling words when trying to make a case for your written views presents a HUGE distraction. It causes me to wonder if the person is really all that intelligent. And FYI, I'm not talking about a typo here or there ;)
