SCATS,

The focus on the location move from Hoover to Kirk seems like the lesser issue; isn't the district modification from RCSD to GCSD a much bigger deal? This would suggest that the students would be Greece residents (nominally), not city residents, right?

Whatever the answer, it seems like big things are happening with little to no clear notification.

Ah, disregard last. A little bit of digging reveals that the change of "district" is something that they would have had to do for Hoover as well, and has nothing to do with which district is being served by the charter. So the only surprise is the use of Kirk rather than Hoover.

Not as big a deal, then. Putting students in a vacant school is something to be expected. Perhaps also something to be clearly announced and explained, but still hardly unexpected.

Sorry for possible multiple posting; blogger acting up again.

To 7:12PM ~~ The focus is on the school because THAT was supposed to be the reason needed for the Public Hearing.

6:58 The charter school is to serve Rochester students. The location was requested to be in Greece months ago. Then the address was 133 Hoover Dr. Their request was based on their assertion that there was not space in the city. The regents and the State Ed Dept gave the OK to the location. Then there was the need for a hearing to make the change from the already okayed 133 Hoover Dr location to the 299 Kirk rd location. remember this school still has not started yet. it is in the planning stage. The only problem was there was no notification at the May meeting that the need for the hearing was because they wanted to put "on the record" that the location would be Kirk Rd. They never wrote that info or said that info or put that info into the minutes of that hearing. There may be many residents of Taybrook Dr and the over-55 ranch homes on Kirkdale Circle and the other Sciortino condos off Kirk Rd that would be wanting to know their future neighbors in their retirement years.

My Question is: Why didn't you jump all over the obvious story, that Julia has left the BOE after Eli graduated? She doesn't have to be there anymore watching over her darlings and ensuring their degrees. This district is complete bull on the BOE and admin side. They have a hell of a lot of good teachers, who do great things for the kids though.

To 11:35PM ~~ I don't know who your source is but Julia is still on the BOE. She was at the meeting last Tuesday night.

She pulled a last minute stunt regarding Eli graduation regarding the program. Didn't happen but she tried. I'm surprised you didn't hear about it.

To 9:27AM ~~ It's a BIG district and a lot of times people assume I already know things when I do not.

What you are saying doesn't surprise me at all given her history on the BOE and making personal use of district resources.

Did you know that Julia was able to get a highly respected soccer coach not renewed for the fall soccer season. Seems she wanted to get back at him for not giving her little darling enough play and he did take any of her son's crap. We should be so lucky as to have her leave the board!

To 7:55PM ~~ It's been mentioned before, yes.

While she remains on the board, her influence has been greatly diminished. She suffered a severe setback along with O toole at the reorg meeting when she failed in her attempt to get O toole the VP job. She thought the votes were committed and when the votes were taken, O Toole failed to even get nominated. Two unhappy campers who were the target of a coup by other members both need to be former board members ASAP.

To 9:32AM ~~ Thus the need for TERM LIMITS.

She abused her power by pulling that crap with the soccer coach at the BOE meeting. It is just plain wrong that she ruined someone's coaching opportunity because she didn't like that her snowflake didn't get the playing time she felt he deserved. I hope the superintendent doesn't let her get away with it and has the employment revoted on.
