I wouldn't say it's a crime to wear a hunting suit (that's what it is right..... an outfit hunters wear?) but with the recent random car shootings I can see why law enforcement might want to talk to that person. I'm not sure where exactly hunting is allowed, but close to a well traveled highway seems dangerous. But, I'm not originally from NY and I don't hunt and have no idea where hunting is and isn't allowed.

That Chase Bank on Dewey has been robbed a few times! Crazy.

*I'm just commenting on the post, not trying to start drama or debate.

To 1:02PM ~~ Yes, hunters & military types wear those suits. Maybe a "prepper" was doing "end of civilization" exercises ... just in case. I'm wondering WHAT PD would have done had they found that guy? Arrest him? For what??

Anonymous said...

Exactly! What would they have done if they found the guy? Arrest him for what? I kinda think the pd is just looking for someone, anyone, to pin these recent shootings on so they can say they solved it. Wouldn't THAT make the GPD look good *sarcasm*

Maybe not a crime, but given recent events, pretty stupid.

To 2:37PM ~~ Not everyone keeps up on the news. Maybe someone from a different area who just arrived here. There's lots of possibilities.

I have to say, Saturday I had to drive on 390 from Vintage Ln. to 490 in the city and as I was coming up to every bridge overhead I felt panic, held my breath, drove through then relaxed until I got to the next bridge above. I ended up exhausted from stress by the end of my trip and also back home. This is crazy. I don't know what to think.

Boy wonder the investigator and the cast of characters that we call GPD. A time bomb waiting to explode.

Hey, you arm chair QB's have been calling for police action on these incidents and now that they have a possible lead, you shoot them down. That seems pretty stupid to me or the usual cop hating BS on thus site,
Please, leave it to those trained in police work to do what is necessary follow up work. Of course if they observed someone dressed in that manner in areas connected to the incidents they are going to talk to him. That does not necessarily involve an arrest as he would be a person of interest and not necessarily a suspect .
To not detain someone fitting that description would not lend it self to common sense police work,
They have a lead . Ask for help and you heroes dump on them instead, Really sick!

To 11:43AM ~~ I just reviewed ALL that was written on this thread. Aside from 9:19PM's ineloquent generalization, I see NO ONE DUMPING ON THEM. I do see LOTS of questions asked. I know, as a cop you detest the idea that anyone would ever question your authority, but I'm pretty sure you'll get over it in time. I'll buy you a donut, OK?

Anonymous said...

what 11:43 said is perfectly logical. To find the perp, the cops need to follow leads. A man in a hunting/camo suit hanging around the trees along the road where something has been tossed/fired/shot at cars needs to be investigated. Scats, are you suggesting this person should have been ignored?

SCATS said...

To 1:36PM ~~ It continually amazes at how a few of you who wear uniforms immediately believe that a question asked equates to criticism!

SHOW ME THE WORDS I USED THAT LEAD YOU TO BELIEVE THE PERSON SHOULD "BE IGNORED".

Of course, he/she should be investigated. However, that doesn't answer the questions I asked. If that person is found, will he/she be arrested just because it's "suspicious" behavior? On what grounds? There is often a fine line between investigating & trampling someone's rights by arresting them for "suspicious" behavior.

C'mon scats, some of us on this site are wise to you. I refer you to your opening rhetorical, sarcastic QUESTION. .?
.THAT SAYS IT ALL AND SETS THE TONE for this thread for your usual Boo Birds to fly out of the weeds and join the chorus you orchestrated initially.
What makes you think that those of us who recognize your intent to discredit law enforcement , wear the uniform.? I assure you that is NOT the case even though you would have others believe as you do. Most of us are . Just long time followers of this blog
who know a cheap shot when we see one on your site.
Examples 1:19,1:45 comments Obvious intent!
To 1:02 exactly! FYI all incidents occurred in firearms restricted areas, this means discharge of any item considered to be a firearm under state law is illegal in these restricted areas. Aka no hunting etc,
BTW I never eat donuts so save your money or eat it yourself.

To 2:55PM ~~ First of all, you are "known" by me. Your writing "style" (I use the word very loosely) is a dead giveaway. So is your erratic use of punctuation. AND you love to use the phrase "cheap shot" ... it's a hallmark of your comments in particular. So please don't attempt to tell me you are merely a longtime follower. I do know better.

Secondly, YOU are hearing "sarcasm" where none was intended! One thing about the written word that writers know VERY WELL is that communicating emotion is hard to do, not to mention tricky.

YOU and a few others continually seek to call those who QUESTION THOSE IN POWER as naysayers, malcontents, people who "hate law enforcement" blah, blah, blah ...

It simply ain't true AND YOU CAN'T PROVE OTHERWISE :)

As far as "hunting goes" you are assuming the person had a weapon AND/OR was actually hunting. Maybe he was trying out a newly acquired piece of gear. Maybe he is a prepper. Neither of those require a weapon. YOU are the only person to mention concern about that.

As for the donuts, I forgot you gave them up for the regularity that morning bran muffin provides. Mea culpa. Pass it onto one of your pals.

Just trying on new hunting gear and roaming the woods close to a highway in an area where random shots have previously been fired, is just asking for trouble IMO. Who does that? And why do that? Just my opinion, but seems a bit odd to me that one would chose that particular area to model their new hunting threads.

SCATS said...

To 5:36PM ~~ I don't disagree that it might seem odd. But again, not everyone knows about the 390 sniper.

Anonymous said...

OK, so, where did that picture come from? Not from the police, I'd guess.

A guy in a mismatched ghillie suit (not appropriate for the terrain), standing, no vegetation weaved in, with no facial camo or gloves, looks very amateurish.

Ghillie suits are generally not used by hunters (unless they have inflated egos), that would be overkill relative to their needs. The suits are very hot and uncomfortable, and you would not wear one unless your life depended on it.

SCATS said...

To 7:01PM ~~ It came from a hunting website. There are lots of different ones on hunting sites, prepper sites, etc. I chose one that looked like someone trying to hide in the trees, as was reported ;)

So you admit your headline is a sensationalized lie to increase readership? Time for you to apologize, maybe?

Why don't you report news that is substantiated? Is there no longer a commitment to honor in journalism?

Instead, you sort the posts you receive, choose the comments you post, and finally link "out of context" photos, as the proof or fodder that attempts to make your point.

If you intend to do good by this community with your blog, have credible standing as a reliable source, and truly facilitate improvement, you must undertake to be a better citizen whom is believable, unbiased, and can be proven to be credible!

SCATS said...

To 5:28PM ~~ I "admit" nothing of the sort and have no reason to apologize for anything about this posting. In fact, as time goes along, my contentions are being proven to be ... (drumroll) TRUE!!

Just today, Crimestoppers has offered a $1000 reward.

Anonymous said...

5:28- I don't get it. Your comment bothers me. I can't figure it out.
What's a lie? I see the headlined words. They appear to be true. I see photos. I learned what a ghillie suit is from this blog. What am I missing?

Anonymous said...

I read this blog daily. It's the best source I know for finding all the news about Greece. I love the links and I don't feel misled. As 6:12 stated, I often learn something here. So, thank you SCATS!!!!!!!!

SCATS said...

TY 10AM :)

MOST readers get it.

Drumroll?, True?, How?

Is the reward for the plate number of any trucks dropping debris, or vehicles wandering onto the berms and "firing" pebbles?

I assert the posted pic of that ghillie is your assumption based on someone's "eyewitless" account, which makes it BS!

There is little published substantive evidence regarding what is going on here. Reality is likely that most are stones. Let me reiterate, if the victim reports they saw something, it is unlikely, if not impossible, a fired projectile!!!
Maybe a few incidents of "fired" or "dropped" projectiles... But no one has substantiated 14+ incidents. And finally, if fired projectiles are proven, is there intent, or is someone blindly plinking, and ultimately just a dumbass!?!?

SCATS said...

To 5:58PM ~~ Are you REALLY that dense? Please attempt to read for meaning. I know it's hard but you can do it! The words are absolutely true & were widely reported in media all over the area.

Re: "if the victim reports they saw something" ... well, speaking of BS, you created a fresh steaming pile. Most report that they HEARD a loud noise, just before their glass broke.

By the way, you've fallen way behind ... we're already at least at 17 incidents and counting. They are coming 2 per day lately.

Please explain how could someone "unintentionally" fire projectiles that traverse a path that predominately follows 390, 104 and/or the bike/canal paths? I'd like 10% of that kind of dumb luck! lmao

Your posts have gotten so outrageous it's not likely we're going to waste any more time on them, but thanks for reading.
