Babs has led GCSD down the Hilton Central path.
Nobody runs for Board from the outside, and nobody votes against anything.

Apathy wins.

Prediction:

Budget passes 62% to 38%

Albert Ficus

My prediction: If it rains much, the number voting will barely hit 2500. Everything will pass because only the "in school vote" (employees, parents already in the bldgs) will bother.

The BOE seats will go to numbers 1, 2 & 3 as listed on the ballot.

My brother Ilan made an minute attempt last year as a write in candidate for BOE. Probably would have made it if it wasn't for Oberg's late entry. He tried robo calls and a few targeted mailings to get his message out. However in the end he was very discouraged by the whole process and has no interest in running any further. Too bad as I'm certain he would not have been supporting any increase in the budget nor any increase for Babs Albert Ficus.

Because of the special interest candidates for the board, I predict the turn out will be slightly more than last year, about between 3250 and 32750. Largely because of the bullet voters for Mc Cabe and Maloney, running as a team and the PTA Associate of Julia. I am afraid the best candidate , the military man, will not be successful .

To 8:05AM ~~ This is the first I've heard about your brother's campaign. In fact, I was remarking to a friend last night that we were NEVER told about any write-in votes except that Oberg won.

To 9:50AM ~~ I don't see what's so "special" about either of them (M&M) that they would draw anyone who wouldn't otherwise vote. Does McCabe have followers??

To 11:04AM ~~ VERY TRUE.

Only CARE had the ability to sway the outcome of budget votes and elections prior to 2007. That's when 11,000 plus showed up to vote.
Too bad that group no longer is active because turn out would be greater due to their popularity and ability to reach the voters thru objective mailings and skillful use of the media.
I doubt if those who operate this site would agree though.

To 1:18PM ~~ I disagree that ONLY CARE could do the job. Their success was in MAILING OUT THOUSANDS OF THEIR OWN "FACT SHEETS" prior to elections. Since that time, things have changed! No more Pennysaver. Fewer D&C readers. Letters to the Editor are few & far between.

Why would ANYONE want to put themselves through the torment of sitting on the Greece BOE unless there was a GROUP WITH SPECIFIC GOALS to back them?

McCabe backers include Greece Rotary, GCOf C, Bill Selke and Greece Kiwanis and Gerry Phelan to name a few.
They all supported him back in 2005 when HMO beat him and his Walts-Keller-Gogan supporters.
Special Goals by these self appointed Greece leaders is control of the School District as well as Town Government
They lost the School District in 05 when The HMO board dispatched Keller - Cogan
They would regain control in 06,07 when they spent 15 K to get Boily, VanOrman and Hauer elected .That board gave us another looser in the person of Achromovitich.
Imagine that if you can and then ask yourself this question. Why would any one spend that much money to get elected to a non paying board seat ?
The answer, because they can and political control of all governing and taxing authorities in the town is the ultimate goal of these self described leaders of the Town of Greece who have a sense of entitlement to call all the moves in this town. Only in Greece have so few done so much to destroy the image of our town.

Here is the thread from last year where Ilan's candidacy was discussed.

http://greeceschool2006.blogspot.com/2013/05/may-21-election-results.html?m=1

Folks got all bent that he was doing robo calls which he did from his PC with an easily obtainable free list of phone numbers of a geographic area. He didn't send a large number because it was assumed that even a couple dozen write in votes was going to win. That was before Oberg of course..
