This is off topic, but what the hell do the bus monitors do on the buses? I was driving on Long Pond Rd. today at 3:45, and as I got in the turn lane to go into Aldi's, a kid sticks his arm out the window and throws a handful of stones at my car hitting the windshield. The bus continued on as if nothing happened. So again, What the Hell do the monitors exactly do?

To 5:19PM ~~ Shall we ask Karen Klein? Oh wait! She did NOTHING and then became wealthy for it!

To 5:19...I'd have been mad enough to follow the bus and find out who did it, and why the monitors weren't paying attention! That's crazy. Did you get the bus number and are you going to peruse it? If the kids think they got away with it, they will do it again and possibly cause a serious accident. Just saying.......

If by any chance you got the number of the bus they will investigate. At the very least Greece central is liable for any damage to your vehicle whether you got the number or not. Just the time and place of the incident are enough for them to track which bus it was. You should make a report. You could also call the police. If I threw stones at your car you would. Why are the people on a school bus exempt from responsibility.

To 11:25PM ~~ I disagree that "Just the time and place of the incident are enough for them to track which bus it was."

When buses are leaving schools, they dump out enmasse onto Long Pond Rd. Maiden Ln. or Latta in LARGE groups. So, if it was in an area where multiple buses traversed, it might be impossible to locate the culprits without the bus number or license plate.

I agree that the matter should be persued.

I never got the bus number or was able to follow it as I was pulling into the store. The transportation department gives the same old tired line of BS about how they will look into it.

To 5:26AM ~~ They've learned to delegate ... just like Babs does ;)

New subject: Having received my GCSD budget letter in the mail I sent the followomng to the superintendent in hopes of gaining addtional insight.

" I received the budget edition of Connection. Thank you.

A couple of questions re content:

1. Page one references the 5 year strategic plan. Specifically mentioned
is the following: "Our success will be measured my metrics and performance
indicators." I searched the document and could find no references to how we/you
are doing in achieving those successes? Any insight would be appreciated.

2. I found several references which measured year to year changes in various
categories. However I found no reference to student population changes over that last
several years. Was that an error of omission or an error of commission?
It seems to me that would be very important data to judge the year to year
changes in the budget. Would you please supply that data?

Please forward this to any on your staff that you feel would be qualified to answer these concerns.

Thank you in advance for your prompt reply.

5:26...Of course it will make your life more complicated and we all have been there, but whether they know which bus it is, you have the right to hold them accountable. If there was no damage to your car then maybe you don't want to proceed. But if there is, the district is responsible because the passengers on the bus are under their supervision.
And if you pursue it they will find out who did it. In fact they already probably know and are hoping you will drop it. Make them give you an "incident report" to fill out. And again you could have called 911. Although you didn't feel physically hurt it could have if your window was open or a sunroof. Next they will be throwing rocks out at pedestrians. That is a ticketable offense and the driver of the bus is responsible. (Similar to unsecured load and malicious mischief.) Just like you would be if children were doing that from your car. That will get the ball rolling.
You could call the central office since that is where you fill out reports. If they won't do it make out a police report. It will take time and probably no one will be punished. Also you will have documentation if you find that it caused paint damage to your car that needs to be fixed. That is not done as just a touch-up. It is up to you. These are just possible suggestions if you want to follow-up. It is understandable if you decline.

Not all buses have monitors aboard. Just let it go. Without a bus number you are going no where, Even if you did, do you really believe the kid responsible is going to admit to doing it.?
If your car was damaged, file a report with the PD and then your insurance company and let them deal with it instead of making a federal case out if it.
Sit back and let your insurance company go after the insurer for the district.

To 10:50AM ~~ Have you been living underground? In Greece Central, kids are frequently punished without ANY admission of guilt.

Anonymous said...

Probably because they have been caught in the act or seen on one of the security cameras. Really, what difference does it make? No I live above ground but I suggest you join the real world and get with what ever program you subscribe to and leave the important thing to those that matter and really make a difference.

To 4:24PM ~~ The difference it makes is that we supposedly live in a nation that subscribes to the "innocent until PROVEN guilty" doctrine. Our schools are DISASTER AREAS when it comes to teaching about the Constitution. Most kids graduate & can't even spell it ... let alone tell us what's in it.

In MY OPINION, I am making a difference :)

REALLY?? Of course your entitled to your opinion but I just don't see it, at least in a positive way.
Let me see, INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY. not here when it comes to Bud Philips right??? Lol.

To 6:22PM ~~ It seems clear to MOST including the former PD chief that he did what everyone thinks he did ... AND he acts the part perfectly.

PS ~~ We were talking about what GCSD teaches, not about this BLOG.

To 8:48PM ~~ I hope not.
