Before The Echo Of The Oath Fades ...

... He's Eliminated The Weekly Arrest Reports
From The Greece PD Website!

Weekly arrest reports have suddenly disappeared on the Town website. Guess we are going back to the no crime in our town motto.    4/01/2014 2:41 PM

SCATS ~~ I guess I need to take back my statement made to Facebook friends yesterday!  I really hoped he would be an improvement, but stemming the flow of this type of info shows me otherwise. PLEASE RETHINK THIS MOVE!

Phelan is a political appointment. He does what Reilich tells him to do.

To 8:49PM ~~ Another puppet :(

Plenty of changes already at gpd just via the website!! New info officer and other interesting bits of pieces.

What did you expect.? Nothing will ever change Inspite of Mr Bigs promise to return Greece to the status it once enjoyed ,what ever the hell that's supposed to be.

It's called "NEWS MANAGEMENT "which has always been job one from one administration to another in this town.
Relic has been pissed off ever since the Ridgeway accident caper leaked out to the press. He won't let that happen again or heads will roll
Look for more changes like this aimed at keeping further transgressions from getting out to the public.

To 1:20PM ~~ That's why this BLOG is so "hated" by our "leaders." It's something they can't control.

9:51 AM Really not even 100 days yet and unlike your friends in the Warren camp they have had a half dozen negative stories. Before we are to hard on our own.

SCATS said...

To 4:35PM ~~ I wouldn't say Relich's group is getting "good press" about Greece. In fact, losing Baxter seems to be a HUGE NEGATIVE in the minds of the masses. Look at the poll results for your first clue.

Maybe we can hire Rahn back. I heard he needs a job.

Reilich underestimated the popularity of Baxter. This will come back to haunt him in ways you can't even fathom.

SCATS said...

To 10:20PM ~~ I suspect Relich is the type to overestimate his self-importance, too. I love a good haunting :D

4:35 - what is it with this horsepuckey "they did it too" childish finger-pointing? Anything that may or may not go on within the Warren camp, or the Cuomo camp, or the Obama camp does not excuse the elected and appointed officials of Greece NY from doing their own jobs and vice-versa. You wouldn't let your first-grader get away with that crap excuse, so why do you accept it from highly paid, fully-grown adults?

SCATS said...

Well said, 8:45AM. You get bonus points for deciphering 4:35's mangled remarks.

Baxter was not beloved by the rank and file in GPD. First he was never there and did not provide leadership. Just wanted to be out and the center of attention. Ask any officer now that they can talk freely.

Phelan says he had some legal concerns about posting this info publically and is researching it right now with those legal people.

what a joke! He is a Bill Reilich puppet. No hope for this town.

SCATS said...

To 8:21PM ~~ Baxter was too busy schmoozing with the public, especially people he should have NEVER allowed to get so close.

To 9:51PM ~~ Where, when & to whom did he say that??

Anonymous said...

Surely Phelan's concerns can't be legal... police blotters have been public information in every town for hundreds of years. In fact I would think that restricting access to the blotter (which he may not have done yet - it may be available for public review at the police station) would be more clearly illegal. The people need to know that their police force is not arresting people in secret.

SCATS said...

To 12:09PM ~~ This is Greece where they make it as tough as possible to get access to what other towns freely make available. In fact, I asked when Baxter was here if I could view the same info the reporters sort through to compile the police blotters the Greece Post used to publish. I was told an emphatic "NO!"

It's not even easy to obtain a copy of a police report that involves your own family/property. Been there, tried it.

In Greece they don't want us knowing how much crime there really is, or the types. Anyone who really wants some insight into that will be given resistance.

You're all wrong. Greece was the only town to post that info. Show me the link to any other town. A link listing arrests that the town or PD put out directly not one posted by a blog or reporter.

SCATS said...

To 6:53PM ~~ We're not wrong, but you have misunderstood what was said. No one said that other towns posted the same info in the same way Greece did briefly. I'm saying other towns don't make people work so hard to get the same info. that reporters are given freely.

In the past, legitimate FOIL request viewed as sensitive in nature, was routinely reviewed by Auburger and then by the legal staff. Legitimate requests were routinely denied by Di Raddo under direction from Auburger. They hope you will go away. I had that problem once myself.
I got a call from one of the other attorneys who told me he was asked to ask me why I wanted that information. I asked him if my request was in order to which he responded that it was
I then told him that he was out of line asking me that question. He agreed. I could see this poor man was between a rock and that hard place so I put it this way. You can tell Jack that I had no problem telling him why even though asking me that question clearly violated the FOIL .
Two weeks later I still hadn't received the info so I went to the next board meeting and during the public forum I confronted Auburger and publicly called him out
for his holding up of my request and told him I wanted it YESTERDAY . I received the info the next day.
Unfortunately, these are the games grown men play when they feel empowered.
It remains to be seen if Reilich continues this practice
Based on What the new chief just did , it would appear to me that the "noose" just got tighter regarding the flow of info coming out of this administration.

6:53 p.m. Here you go, a link to any other town

http://fultonpd.sharepoint.com/Pages/ArrestsWeekof32414.aspx

Anonymous said...

Or go here http://www.oswegony.org/DEPT_police.html

then scroll down and click on "online police blotter."

To say that Greece was the only town to put that kind of information out to the public is a lie.

Anonymous said...

Oh wait - here's one more.
http://www.plattsburghpd.net/Blotter.htm

There is just no reason to hide this information from the public. It belongs to the people and should be posted online for the people.

To 3:54PM ~~ I'm not sure Auggie EVER gave up controlling that & I don't believe Relic will either.

To 6:03PM ~~ Actually, even MCSO posts crime reports ;)

I live in Greece and when I needed my accident report on my family member who is one of my children or to talk with an officer before Baxter and Relic ever came along. I could not get either. I have asked with Baxter tough the accident was before he came along and I still had no answers . I don't think their will be anything better with Relic or Phelan. Who ever runs this town in the last couple decades they made sure the Town of Greece, New York was one of the safest towns to live in. Here all these years of fcorruption has been going on. Must I say it started before Rahn became a chief but he continued it and made corruption stronger and no supervisor noticed any of it. Everything is a secret. Where our tax money goes is a secret. Greece is one big secret and no one talks or will tell "WHY" ? I have a very good personal reason why I don't sell my home here in Greece. If that reason wasn't so strong to hold me here. I be gone in a flash. I give my home away but anyone who doesn't live in Greece will not take a free home. Pretty sad when we look bad to the out siders. Greece is on the top list for me to not ask any one to ever move here.
