Why go backwards?

To 10:24PM ~~ This isn't my personal preference, but seems in-line with fate ...

Based on years of opinions/comments/suggestions and critical comments, shouldn't SCATS be in line for the job??

This won't happen for several reasons. Phelan was to close with The Auburger regime for openers. Dad has no political influence in this town anymore.
I believe Reilich is to smart to pick the next chief off a civil service list because of the implications of doing so in the future. He would rather pick an existing chief or a Qualified outside person and sign him to a contract as was the case with Baxter. Much easier to terminate employment using this method as opposed to Civil Service procedure .

To 4:27AM ~~ Thanks, but I already turned the job down! lol

To 6:29AM ~~ Relich said he was going to return Greece to its former self ... putting a Phelan (or another current GPD cop) in-charge would do that, right?

One might interpret that statement to mean that. However, it could also mean that as Supervisor, he will not interfere with operation of the PD as was the case with Auburger.

SCATS said...

To 10:01AM ~~ If I'm not mistaken, the Supervisor's job requires him to supervise GPD. That includes holding the purse-strings, OK'ing new hires/fires ... right? It's part of the job.

The guy from Brockport. Varrenti. He is not too happy there and he is political and he needs a promotion in pay and he was on the short list 4 years ago.

SCATS said...

To 10:17AM ~~ Do you think Relich is looking over Auberger's short list??

This is easy to understand. Todd can now collect his public service pension and not have to put up with complaints about double dipping.

Question to Phlen Jr. Have you had any missdeads covered up by Dad? I like Jr. but would like that question answered on the record.

Let's hope the job goes to someone outside of GPD ranks.

Not exactly correct Scats. While it is the job to supervise every component of town government, he does not have the exclusive right to hire and fire. That job is reserved ,
Under law , for the Greece Town Board of which he is a voting member and one of five.

The classification attached to Greece under that law
requires that the position if Supervisor be a full time position and be a voting member of an elected five member board.Accordingly,it is the Town Board that
Has that responsibility to hire and fire and be guardians of the purse, In the past , employees for the town including the PD, were hired by the board upon recommendations from the HR department and the chief of police. Here again, the supervisor has but one vote in this process

However, that democratic method of one person one vote, was trashed and burned by Auburger Inc. as the puppets on the board chose to abrogate their responsibilities and vote to the supervisor.

I seriously doubt that will change anytime soon under Reilich . SAME GAME, DIFFERENT PLAYERS and it is the fault if the empty headed voters who never heard of or don't care about good government thru a system of checks and balances employing the use and implementation of the two party system as away to accomplish accountability in government.

To 4:46PM ~~ Of course, I was speaking for the way things are/have been in Greece. Anyplace else and there would potentially be a voice speaking up or maybe even a "no" vote at least some of the time. In Greece, it's always "yea."

11:08 what complaints of double dipping?

If you would all like to hire the best person for the job, he with the best credentials, the highest moral standards, and best standing with current officers... HIRE UHRMACHER! That's what right minded Town officials should have done years ago. Baxter was a shill hired to protect and serve politics, Not the Town! Why can't we as a community just do something right for a change?

SCATS said...

To 6:28PM ~~ Good question! Do you think Brian WANTS the position, given the politics & scrutiny?

The most recent civil service test for chief Phelan scored number one. So if you want the most qualified Phelan is your guy.

It takes a lot more than being able to write a good exam to be a qualified candidate for any position including Chief of Police of Toon Town, NY

Contrary to popular belief, Urhmacher is not exactly squeaky clean when it comes to political involvement.
Not too long ago, he did some investigating for Reilich when it was learned that the FBI was reportedly looking into the Reilich junior caper on Ridgeway Ave.
Urhmacher was said to have personally interviewed several highway employees and others with knowledge of what actually took place with regard to that incident.
That favor definitely raised his stock with Mr Big who know May return the favor by giving him the job. A job by the way he has earned and deserves more than Phelan or other switch hitters vying for the job,
Make no mistake, Reilich is no fool and he knows who Auburger's snitches were in the top command of the PD.

To 9:40AM ~~ I would certainly hope so! If he can't shoot straight or on target, or drive like a demon down 104 in rush hour traffic while avoiding stopped school buses ... well, you get the picture!

To 10AM ~~I agree with your comment too. Anyone who was there during Rahn's years KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON!!

GEE, I wonder if the Highway employees were able to splain how the 911 computer operated by the CITY lost 30 minutes of recordings and CR numbers?

Somebody need to talk to somebody who was personally filled in by Uncle Shakey that afternoon.

Somebody need to look into cancelled checks from a certain FRIENDS OF account.

12:39 The Feds were given that info plus a lot more you don't know about. However, they ran into " stonewall" of epic proportions known as Monroe County Republican Political Machine and could not connect the dots to make the case. At least not yet.

140,000 is pretty good for a guy who barley finished high school, Relich has already demonstrated he will put unqualified people in key positions so this guy is a shoe in. It is great to be a resident of Greece.

To 9:05PM ~~ Surely you MUST jest! The DPW head can't even get the potholes at Town Hall filled in.
