The sheeple of Greece have spoken

A little off topic but my polling place is the Savior's Chapel on English Road. Upon entering I noticed a table set up in the lobby staffed by adults and teenagers, not related to the polling station. I assumed it was people from the church. The teenagers had matching shirts on bearing a religious message.

When I was leaving the teenagers were approaching people in the lobby asking them if they wanted information on the church. One poor gentleman had his path blocked by a girl who insisted on talking with him about being saved. The man was just trying to get out of there. I quickened my pace to go around them when a man shouted at me from the table, asking if I wanted some information on being saved. I said "no" but he persisted. I ignored him and left.

Later, I talked with someone else who experienced the same thing and got into a confrontation with the man at the table. They told the man that they were uncomfortable being approached by a member of the church when they were there to cast a vote and had a right not to be bothered. The man told them, "I challenge you to find a law that says we can't do this because you won't find one."

It has always bothered me that Greece uses churches as polling places, but at least up until this time, there was no overt contact with people from the church. In the past they have just left material out on a table. Now they are doing the hard sell. Not cool. Especially not on election day.

To 10:18PM ~~ Yes, they "bah"ed. I suspect we'll live to regret it too.

To 10:31PM ~~ That's not cool at all. I can't believe it's legal either. Anyone??

Go to a town meeting and pray they change voting locations next year.

I find it interesting that less than 19,000 people came out to vote in Greece for Supervisor considering we are a town of 100,000. This town is overwhelmingly Republican yet it appears from the votes Reilich got there were not many Republicans who came out to vote. 11,060 votes. Pretty low.

Thoughts anyone?

To 6:17AM ~~ Some people get beaten into submission. Greece voters have been beaten to become apathetic. It's quite sickening!

It wasn't even close. Maloney garnered
more votes a few years ago! Will the Greece Dems learn from this? Probably not.

I have watching elections in this town of over 35 years. I could have predicted the turn out and vote split very closely.
Given this is an off year, the democratic turn out roughly 8% was predictable and usually adds up to about 8,000 votes
however, this years republican turn out was second only to the 09 turn out of7,000 .That number is a little misleading as it does not include the 2,000 Republican anti vote that went to Maloney that year.
In the past, in an off year, the repo candidate would normally receive between 13,000 and 14,000 votes
This years results shows the usual inability of the Dems to get out more than 8% of registered demos which is reflect ed year after year for supervisor and town board elections
As for the Repos it was equally a poor showing R to D Again with conservatives and Independants making a big difference as is was in 09 when they provided
Auburger with the 2400 votes needed to win by 400 votes over Maloney
So what's going on? For the Dems, business as usual
For the reps, a little more complicated for several reasons. A decline in the number of regular voters who have taken up residence in the bone yards. Younger registered voters who don't vote. Disgust among once loyal supporters who opt to "sit it out" rather than vote for the Usual Suspects. All, lead to a decline in numbers tn this election cycle. Add to this the general Apathy that grips this town and you have the resulting pathetic turn out. Nobody seems to care anymore in this ever declining definition of Greece as the Huge Mistake by the Lake.

Wow 11:32. You are a genius!

You were able to predict the voter turnout on Wednesday after Election Day!

You could make a ton of money as a Monday quarterback.

12:25 Thank you but you don't comprehend very well or better still my post was too complex for you to assimilate . What I said was based on years of observation and data collecting , I could have come close to this years numbers well in advance of this years election cycle weeks ago based on my observations and data base. But this obviously was too hard for you to understand so take a cheap shot at a person with knowledge and an opinion about the direction this town is taking as it and all related subdivisions are heading into the Abyss of futility due to the apathy and ignorance of a relatively small percentage of its residents.

Then why didn't you post it ahead of time and prove your point BEFORE the results came in.

Um, because you can't. Duh!

Congratulations Bill. Thank you for preventing that guy from bringing his brand of nasty politics to our town!

ignorance and apathy defines the soul and conscience of the town of greece. as long as low class political scientists prey on you you are doomed. out of 100000 citizens their has to be one statesman one person who will stand up against both democrats and republicans and start solving problems

To 7:19PM ~~ Oh puh-leeze!! When it comes to "nasty politics" nobody does it as well as Greece's former Democrats ~ Auberger, Robach, DiRaddo ... and their ilk.

Much of our Greece Residents are not even going out to vote any more. No one is trusted, no one to vote for. Get rid if these politicians who are crooks and just having an everyday one if us come forward that really wants something good and honest for our town. Hey, just a mom and dad with concern and care can be a better supervisor for our town. It's really to bad, Bill has to do a lot to ever get us to trust him.

7:51, I agree. I believe that man or women does exist in our town. The problem being, nobody recognizes them and their ability to lead us out of bondage.
This messiah of sorts will never come out of the Republican establishment or the Democratic Party in Greece. However, this person could be a registered Rep, Dem, Con, Ind or have no affiliation and is a blank.
In my opinion, only a New Democratic Party with new leadership with exceptional political skills, will be
capable of attracting that person capable of delivering Greece out off the hands of the tyrannical present day pols The present Democratic Party is road kill on side of the road on its way to the Flynn Rd landfill.
Of course, none of this happens unless the registered Democrats stage a coup and kick out all members of the present losers that now control the party by organizing NOW , recruit about 200 new energized members and primary existing committee members in next years election. It can be done.
It's the only way that person will emerge and become the person who will be electable and become the leader that Greece needs to return Greece it's once respected place in this area.

I hear Republicans are working with Dave Garretson to make sure he remains Democratic Leader forever and ever.

For those of you who still do not know:

I usually (key word) do NOT post comments containing name-calling, insulting people about physical appearances, using swearing and other such juvenile crapple.

I also do NOT post comments that focus on me, my identity, my character, my family, or on the BLOG.

Attention Greece taxpayers. Now that the election is over, Leo Carrol is sending out reassement notices. Hang on to your wallets and your jewels. They are about to grap you by them again. WE NEVER RAISE YOUR TAXES REILICH AND MAGGIE BABY . THE BIG LIE.!!!!

If Dave decides to continue to lead, he needs to consider the advise I posted previously. Stop going for the Grand Slam. Bringing new residents to the committee . Concentrate on no more than one or two board seats two years down the road. Those two wards are the 3rd and 2nd. Find two candidates with exposure in this community. And begin grooming them now. How do you do that? It's not that difficult. Get them involved in neighborhood groups. Membership in service groups as well as the CofC and senior citizens activities. Start fund raising now not 2 months before the election. Forget about running a full slate of unknowns, Do not run anyone who has run and lost like your wife. Concentrate all resources on two races not four. Hope to win at least one and gain a foothold to build on. Recruit your supervisor candidate now and prepare him likewise for a run in17.I believe this would have positive results.

Trust me, the dem leadership and committee will find someway to turn their disaster into a positive spin and congratulate themselves. The all too familiar slogan, WAIT TILL NEXT TIME!!! Will be their battle cry.

My letter says I can expect my new assessment notice sometime next week. i don't know about the rest of you, but I vowed to fight any increase overdone dollar from my last 15% increase.
Looks it's time to pay the new Tax Colonector for all those COMIDA TAX BREAKS. If everybody files notice of appeal for any increase, maybe they will get the message. As for Maggie lying about never raising our taxes it's more of an omission. What she didn't say was I won't but others in county and town governments will Everytime they increase the assessed value of your property.
The county tax rate is $9,00 / thousand. That never changes. But over the years, your as assessment increased by $20,000 your taxes increased by $1800 just for the county tax. add to that the corresponding increase in town and school taxes, and you have been ripped off big time folks. Its time to sayWE ARE MAD AS HELL AND WE ARN't GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE!!!
