Reilich To Be Part-Time Supervisor?

Bill Reilich to continue as GOP Boss if elected Supervisor

Dick Beebe pledges to be a full time Supervisor for the people of Greece

Bill Reilich said he intends to keep his six-figure job as County GOP Chair, even if he wins the Greece Supervisor race on Tuesday. He made the statement Thursday on the Bob Lonsberry radio program.

“Bill Reilich is out of touch,” said Dick Beebe, Democratic candidate for Greece Supervisor. “Instead of being on the job full-time for the people of Greece, Bill Reilich plans to collect a second paycheck downtown, as the number one promoter of the Republican Party. I will serve full-time as Supervisor, and I will work to reduce partisan politics at Town Hall. Under Bill Reilich, Town Hall will become the home office of the Republican Party.”

Greece, with almost 100,000 residents, is approximately the same size as Albany, and bigger than most cities and counties in New York State.

“A community of this size needs a full time leader on the job, and I am that person,” said Dick Beebe. “My opponent seems to place a higher priority on keeping his Republican Party paycheck than on serving the needs of taxpayers and voters in Greece.”

According to his state JCOPE filing, Bill Reilich is paid in excess of $ 100,000 as Chair of the Monroe County Republican Committee.

Bless you SCATS for helping to inform the voting public. To me this is a big issue in this campaign - part time or full time supervisor for full time pay.

The salary for the supervisor would indicate it to be a full time position yes?

To 5:38PM ~~ I agree, ty.

To 9:25PM ~~ I should think so!

Dick Beebe has not said he will leave his job at RG&E.

On the same show he said if it interfered or became an issue he would quite.

SCATS said...

To 12:11AM ~~ It already IS an issue.

I'm giving 2 to 1 odds; No matter who gets elected Supervisor the Taxpayer gets SCREWED!

GO BEEBE GO!

Hope my finger is able to migrate to the D line!!!

It seems that no one could do this job if they have another full time job (or two)

Under the classification of Greece as described in the NYS Suburban Town Law, The supervisor job is considered full time. Given this classification, our supervisor is elected and is a VOTING member of the board. This is in contrast to villages and smaller towns in Monroe and adjacent counties, In these communities, while he is elected, he is not a VOTING member of the board .The position is considered part time because his only duties are fiscal in nature. He must prepare and oversee a budget. The four member board members are responsible for the day to day operations with their voting powers.
It works the same way in Greece with one exception. The supervisor has a vote . His vote is one of five which would require at least two board members supporting his vote to effect matters brought to the floor. Basically, it is the board who controls town policies such as zoning, building, hiring of town personnel It hasn't worked that way in Greece as we all know because the members of the board have abrogated their responsibility to the Supervisor.
So where am I going with this? The election of Beebe as supervisor without at least two board seats going to Democrats, will render Beebe impotent as far as making changes as the four republicans will out vote his lone vote. The only personnel Beebe wil be able to hire without board approval, would be his personal support staff.
So whether you are a dem ,rep, con, ind and want change, if you vote for Beebe, you must vote for the dem in your ward or you wasting your time.

To 3:52AM ~~ I suspect you are correct! It's a sad state of affairs, isn't it?

To 6:05AM ~~ Eat your Wheaties on Tuesday morning!

To 8:26AM ~~ The supervisor shouldn't be distracted by the duties of another fulltime job. If you prefer a different post then DON'T run for Supervisor.

To 9:45AM ~~ As Supervisor, a Democrat could certainly take the lid off the Pandora's Box of secrets kept at Town Hall for all of these years. It's time Greece residents learn the truth.

To 11:31 PM: Dick Beebe has declared publicly that he will resign from Iberdrola/RGE. He realizes it is a full time job.

To 9:25PM: the salary scale for 2012 ranged from $107,000 to $140,000. Very full time pay.

Getting any town position out of the hands of the closed & clubby will put cracks in the eggshell of one party rule and let some oversight in. I say give them a chance and vote for a few candidates.

One race I have not seen folks talking about is receiver. Rick Antelli is little qualified for that post. Ellen Oberton is very well qualified for it. I believe they offered the position to Rick to shut him up re the federal investigation.

In the Greece Supervisor race I'll be voting NONE OF THE ABOVE.

Tax collector - ANYBODY BUT ANTELLI

Judge - Campbell & Redmond as bullet votes
Mike Barry can't pay his bills on $113,000 a year retirement, tough spit!

NO WAY IN HELL on all 6 Propositions

Gotta vote for Emily for Sheriff, just to piss Patrick off.

I cannot bring myself to vote for the lesser evil!

This blog was better when you didn't refuse to put up all the comments.

Now you prevent comments from people who do not agree with you or who don't favor your democrat candidates.

You post comments that include cursing when they come from those who agree with you.

County chair is not full time. From the day after election until March, nothing happens. March you pick candidates in each town(not the county chair). It gets active Sept-election day. Ask Joe Morelle he is chair and Majority leader of the Assembly. A much more involved job than supervisor.

I just listened to Bill's interview on WHAM. He knocked it out of the park.

9:45 is correct about the fallout from a Dick Beebe win without two democrats on the board. Scats you would be right about taking the lid off some of the secret activities if it wasn't for the fact that there is a two month time frame before he takes office. Do you really believe Auburger inc are going to leave those documents laying around to be discovered. Keep your eyes out for black smoke coming from the chimney at the town hall during those two months. it's a good bet they won't be burning firewood to heat the place in an effort to save tax dollars or selecting the next Pope.
What he can do is stop the agenda secret meetings. He will be charge of board meetings and set the agenda.
Most importantly, under state law he becomes the Police Commissioner and controls the mission , policies and practices if the GPD . That will be HUGE!!!

So Rick got his variance to have an auto repair shop there. They kept putting it off until he said he was a witness for the FBI. Now he gets what he wants and gets a cushy candidacy to be our Collector of Taxes. He will probably win. And he will keep his mouth shut.

To 3:03PM ~~ What makes Redmond a good choice? I'm shocked he's running as a Dem!

To 10:02PM ~~ Sooner or later, with a Dem running the town it will become very clear exactly WHAT has gone on the last dozen years in terms of business, if not politics.

To 10:17PM ~~ OMG!! Graft is alive & well in the Town of Greece!!! Who knew? Let's call Auberger!!!

SCATS said...

To 8:48PM ~~ Just found your comment in the spam folder. Again, I will NOT post comments that use name-calling!!! Most of the comments that I refused to post resorted to that, as I'm pretty sure you are aware. A difference of opinion between two or more people does not make someone "a liar."

SCATS I'm going with Redmond because as a lawyer he is a sole practitioner which will mean his partners don't pick up business from his Judgeship through the Old Boy system.

Secondly, Redmond isn't one of the Greece Good Ol Boys.

Third, he got off his butt and came to ask for my support in the Independence Primary. I spoke with him for 20 minutes and got a sense of the man. He ansewered my questions honestly and didn't beat around the bush like a politician.

The rest of the slate is just too damn comfortable in their positions, and Barry definitely needs to be sent to the showers!

to 11/02/2013 9:49 PM: Interesting that a job so part time as you describe pays in excess of $100,000 per Bill's financial disclosure form. Even if it was that low a drain - I want a full-time supervisor. Include Reilich's sideline business as additional draw on his time.
NO THANKS!

Scats I agree with your comment about sooner or later. Unfortunately , Beebe is a short timer in Greece which will place him at a disadvantage as a lot of the double dealing by Auburger , Boily, Riley etc, took place long before he came to town, My point is just this. Without a lotta help, he will not know who the players were and where to look for the location of the buried bodies.
If he were to win, he would be smart bring in a long term resident who is knowledgeable in these areas and knows where to look.
Ordinarily, I would say that what happened in the past doesn't matter and simply move forward with a new vision for the town. but because of the complexities of the way business was done in this town in the past , knowledge of the players and their roles is imparitive so as not to get blind sided by one or more of them.that are still in play in the town.

SCATS said...

To 1:50PM ~~ I agree he is a sole practitioner, but how do you KNOW he's honest? How do you know he doesn't side with the good ole boys?? I believe he is about as Republican as they come.

Some very interesting comments posted here,But sadto say, in the long run will it really matter that much with regards to the results of Tuesday's vote. I think not. As they have done so many times in the past, the Reps will record a clean sweep of all positions up for grabs. As I compose this comment, the team leaders are busily formulating their usual and successful Election Day strategy . that will include the following; day long phone banks calling the Election Day faithful and offering rides to the polls for the walker and wheel chair crowd that are still able to see and fill out a ballot. Sending vans to all the nursing homes and retrieve those still able to recognize the republican brand a get them to the voting places unless they are comatose . It has worked for them before and I see no reason for it not to work again.

To: SCATS – Use of car.

Doesn’t Greece supervisor get use of a car – all expenses paid?

Will Greece paid car be used for Monroe County Republican business… and charged back to Republican account?

Great question, 9:52PM.
