Can we anticipate the Clerks presence or will we be paying for someone else to be doing the job. Love the comment on the earlier posting about the mess she makes of the minutes. You'd think by now the Board would have had enough and called her on it.

Those are terrible goals, totally un-measurable and general. This is how you pay lip service to process without actually making a decision of any sort.

Perhaps the Clerk typed the memo for the amendment to the budget. Maybe if you put two dollar signs in front of a number you get more money. Please people, start proof reading your documents.

To 4:46PM ~~ Maybe they can't read, write, spell, etc. any better than that. I don't know about you, but I'm seeing ridiculous errors made daily, in the media & elsewhere. Writing proper English is a dead art.

Is the clerk and now the "clerks-pro-tem" considered part of the exempt employees? Not part of a union but they each have their own individual contract. If so...being named that for one day or more nets them 100% health care for life upon retirement. They all get that. All the "exempt" in the district office. Most are part of a regular union but not all.
This would be a nice way to reward the inner circle of employees as they near retirement to assure them of this perk. It might seem strange to have this position be just created but not so strange when you realize the advantages.
They could volunteer to take on the job for a week at a time and then retire soon after. This whole situation merits much more discussion.

To 5:10PM ~~ Indeed it does, but the closed & clubby BOE fails to discuss much of anything. They enjoy keeping us peons in the dark.

what is a "clerk pro tem"?
who is it? and what do they do?

To 4PM ~~ The BOE passed a resolution creating this position to fill in for the new BOE clerk when she is absent from doing her duties. In the past, these RARE instances were handled by having a BOE member take the minutes when a meeting couldn't be scheduled around her absence.

Since there was NO DISCUSSION, we are left wondering how often they plan to have our new clerk travel at GCSD (i.e. taxpayer) expense and whether or not the sub gets paid & receives benefits. The question has also been raised about LIFETIME health care for those "exempt" employees who work even 1 day ... perhaps as a clerk pro tem might do.

The clerk should be staying in the district and doing her job. Seeing the way she does the minutes, she has a lot to learn, like learning how to use punctuation and making sure she has the correct information listed.

The real question should be why is she out of the office when there is a meeting, that's her main responsibility. Why wouldn't she take the job more seriously?

To 7:40PM ~~ Julia said she was away "on official business." Blame the school board.

It's my understanding she will be approved tonight and is already an employee and a member of the support staff and a member of AGCEPT. We shall have to see if this is true.

I know where the clerk was. She was off getting training in new spy equipment so she has the most up to date equipment to use to report back to Julia about all the goings on at district office.

1:50 Then she will not be a member of AGCEPT anymore and will be in the more lucrative position of "exempt". She will be set for life with medical benefits at 100%. Even if she has the job temporarily. Then her successor will get the same deal. This has to be a set-up for the chosen few. There will be many in this position. It must be payback for doing something or being someone special.

What is the deal with both the Sup and the BOE president missing from tonight's meeting?

She isn't in AGCEPT,, nor is she going to be exempt for filling in. The fill in is already employed in a separate department she doesn't get to switch unions, she is already appointed to a union based on her civil service title. She most likely gets payed straight overtime based on her regular salary when she is asked to fill in. Although I do not understand since never had this sort of replacement set up with other clerks. He whole thing is strange.

To 8:22PM ~~ Maybe they were out "celebrating" 11/12/13 together ....?

Let's talk more about how the "exempt" group gets to have health benefits paid 100% for life during retirement from Greece. This is a perk that none of the rest of Greece staff or unions get. This is something that none of the rest of us taxpayers get. Can anyone add to this topic? Who are the "exempt group besides administration that are not covered by a union...eg assistant superintendents. Does that mean we are paying for Meg or did that stop when she got the job in Clarkson? Are we paying for any others that retired from Greece? Why is it that everyone was all upset about Walts getting this perk and there are many others that get it in this "exempt" group? Even if they only work in that capacity for a day. )eg transfers to exempt from another Greece position) Walts had to put up with us for 7 years. One day!? Isn't the Clerk exempt? She doesn't belong to the other unions. In order to do the clerk's job one has to be the same as the Clerk according to the NYS Law. If it was just a sub then they wouldn't have to name and hire in the position. They wouldn't have to vote on it. There is something sneaky happening here.

To 8:51AM ~~ Rut-roh!! Now you've gone and alleged that Mz. Julia done did something sneaky!! Would I be surprised? NO!! Should any of us be surprised?? NO!!!

Worse yet, it's possible that none of the 9 on our BOE have a clue as to what they may have done!!

The Public Empoyee Relations Boarb or PERB, has declared that An employee that is considered an Administrative Confidential Employee, is not eligible for union membership. Therefore the exempt label was attached to their position
Walts was successful in getting some administrators that had union representation declared Exempt status by PERB..Some were given separate contracts other were given the pay and Benifits contained in the GASA contract.
Regarding life time health care, the only reason he had it was because of his contract with the board. Keller Gogan had conditional health care by contract but lost it when she was terminated. ACHROMOVITCH had the same deal with one stipulation. He had to retire and could not hold an educational position in the future. He lost it when he took the interim Hamburg job
The reason there was and still is a scandal was the fact that in Walts' contract, he had to work for us for only 5 yrs to get life time health care from Greece with no condition with regard to future educational positions any where in the world. He now makes $375,000 / yr In PWC while we are stuck paying in excess of $25,000/ yr for his family health and dental plan courtesy of us tax payers and a disgraceful school board who approved that rip off of a deal. Does this help?
