WHEN DID MEETING GET CHANGED TO MONDAY?

"In addition to the administration of the oath, board members also chose leaders for the 2013-14 school year. Julia VanOrman was unanimously re-elected president while Sean McCabe was appointed vice president by a vote of 6-3. Adam Crandall, Dave Ferington, and Joe Grinnan cast the dissenting votes."

The next Board of Education holds its meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at district office in Odyssey Academy, 750 Maiden Lane.

SCATS ~~ WHEN did the BOE change (and announce the change) of the date of this important meeting?? Methinks they did NOT want much of an audience ("Just a handful" was plenty for them!) to observe the reported antics Julia et al used while determining their Prez & VP roles!  Maybe they feared an informed audience member might have screamed "FOUL!!!"

The official vote for Julia was 7-2 Ferington and Grinan desenting . The McCabe vote was as reported in the Post.
Me thinks that this years board has the makings of a wide open split. Crandal and Quirk should be careful as they will be Oberg's next victim of his agenda to take control of the majority ? As it stands now, I make it that Frank is one member short of his goal of five to constitute a majority. Four are in the bag. Julia, Sean, Gail, and of course the Devill himself, Kaiser Sousey.
GTA better agree to a new contract before that happens If Orberg is successful , any deal with GTA is DOA.
At any rate, with the return of Frank Oberg, politics has retuned to the old go along to get along mentality that prevailed since he left.
It could be HIGH NOON for some members of the board as well as BDW. I'm looking forward to both
interesting and entertaining times in the coming year from our NEW board.

To 1:58PM ~~ Given the devastation Babs is leaving in her wake (both home & office) since last winter, it ought to be high noon for her!

Did Julia ever get another job?

1:58 Something you may or may not know about the New Frank Oberg is that he is a regular visitor to the home of George Hubbard. This from a neighbor. I find this cause for concern, because the old Frank Oberg was contemptuous of this person when last on the board. My my how times and attitudes change when you need friends as is the case with Oberg.

To 10:33AM ~~ What few people realize is that there is a group of older men that regularly meet to discuss GCSD business. They are former BOE members, former district employees and longtime district watchers. Who is active in the group at any given time depends on recent in-fighting. They are largely responsible for getting Grinnen on the BOE (others in the past) ... and disappointed with that result.

Most of us are aware of this group and what they stand for.
My point is that Oberg is new to this group since he left the board under hostile conditions Your right about one thing, they are all old anti taxes farts , mostly ex Yellow Boxers who object to paying any taxes at all especially school taxes..In the past Oberg while of the same mind set had no use for them and never associated with them as they were to over the top in their approach the school District issues for Oberg to embrace. Apparently not any more. In the case of Joe, he was smart enough recognize the ridicules thinking of this ancient group and distance himself from their radical thinking.
The mission of this archaic bunch is no unions, all district employees paid minimum wage and no benefits what so ever. They're more committed than ever since Their Icon, Kodak, stuck it to them big time.

To 3:33PM ~~ No, I do not think that most are aware of this group.

Your parting shots make you sound just like Joe, misspellings and all.
