After talking with two board members regarding last nights re org meeting, there is no doubt in my mide that Julia Hijacked the nominating prossess and stole an election.
Her objection to the nomination of Dave Ferington to the office of president, was a disgrace and an affront to the democratic process and totally out of order. Only a dictatorial type of process would qualify what she did and how she took advantage of an inexperienced new board clerk who was acting president during the election part of last nights meeting. It is important to remember, at this time Julia was not president only a nominee for the position and had no standing other than one board member. And yet, she was able to convince the clerk that a policy existed requiring a member seeking to do so in writing . BS As a courtesy to other board members, a candidate would indicate in writing his intention to to seek office X, but not required to do so. All he need do was inform one board member of his intention to seek that office as late as minutes before nominations were declared open and his name placed in nomination from the floor by that member. Not only was Julia's Actions in consistant with board policy regarding elections as spelled out in Robert Rules of Order Chapter twelve.
I would envite Julia to visit that policy on line or anyone else interested by Going to Roberts Rules of Order, Nomination and Election of Officers Inorder see how out of bounds she was. This election was illegal and Ferington should petition to have the results set aside and a new properly held election take place.WHAT WAS SHE AFRAID OF? Whose water was she carrying?

The irony here as far as I'm concerned, Julia stuck it to A man she one discibed Publically as "HER BOARD HUSBAND" Pretty shabby treatment toward someone she embraced as such. WHAT A DISGRACEFUL EXAMPLE OF CONDUCT UNBECOMING A HUMAN BEING.

To 2:41PM ~~ I must admit, I've been caught by complete surprise. I thought the meeting was tonight! WTH did they move the meeting to MONDAY NIGHT following a long holiday weekend? Was it well attended, or no??

From what you describe, I'm not surprised by her behavior. A little bit of power still corrupts completely. It's not her first fib & certainly won't be her last. She definitely needs to have her bubble burst. I don't see Ferington as the type to rock the boat, do you?

The hope for this board is if Sean and Frank where playing Julia and now that Sean is VP he will hopefully make some moves to change things. I can't believe Frank or Sean are going to let things be status quo.

As for the new clerk, she screwed up big time last night. She declared Julia president by a vote of 9-0, when she hadn't even asked for no votes. There was one person that did not vote for Julia and apparently it didn't matter. When the vote for VP was taken she first declared Sean VP by a vote of 6-0 again not considering the no votes. But she'll be safe for this year as long as Julia's around but if I was her I'd be concerned come the end of this year if Julia doesn't run again, not everyone on this Board is pleased with the elementary secretary turned screwed up board clerk.

What a lovely picture. Know why O'toole ran again. Her marriage is in the toilet, her kids can't stand to be with her. The one never comes home from college and the other can't wait to leave. So she has no life.

I hope the reason Melore ran is to work for change. The encouraging point was last evening when she didn't vote for Julia (even if the stupid clerk didn't bother to count the no vote).

And let's hope Frank is back to move for change. Hopefully they are just trying to lull Julia into thinking everything is going to stay the same and then they hit her right up side of the head and not take her crap anymore.

to 9:17 - what is this 'change' you speak of?

A slight correction to my original post. After rechecking my source, it is know known that well before the reorg meeting, Julia instructed the new board clerk not to accept nominations from the floor unless that person has applied in writing. Ferington was informed of this at the meeting by the board member who was prepared to place his name in nomination that this would happen and his nomination would not be accepted. It was at this point, they decided not to place his name in play as Julia was prepared to object and make an issue of it if the nomination was made.
UNBELIEVABLE!, Chapter 12 clearly states that nominations ARE NOT DEBATEABLE As a result, I was wrong when I stated that she contested the nomination at the meeting. However, she had done her " dirty work" at an earlier time. Does she have a relationship with this wannabe board clerk or does it just appear that way or is she intimidated in some way by Julia?

To 11:21AM ~~ It has been widely reported that they were great PTA buddies, thus Julia's support for her becoming board clerk.

Something about this entire mess that REALLY bothers me is the almost total LACK OF KNOWLEDGE our BOE members have about both Robert's Rules, as well as GCSD policy. If they knew anything at all, it would be a HUUUUGE improvement!!

WHY do I get the feeling there should be Greece PD Booking numbers hanging around their necks?

They might be PTA buddies, but just because she could wipe noses and give hugs at an elementary school dosen't mean she is prepared for this job. She has had one screw up after another since she started. If I was her I'd be very afraid of how long she'll get to hold on to this position. Bab's keeps track of bumbling, more then one incompetent person has been shown the door and let's hope this clerk is next. She makes the District look more rediculous then it already is.

Regardless of if you are capable of doing your job you are guaranteed safety if Julia is your PTA buddy and your neighbor. She was hired on these qualifications not her work experience or capabilities. Now everyone pays the price because someone wanted to slide their girlfriend in a nice paying position. When is Julia going to wake up and realize she isn't the superintendent , she is just the BOE president. Unless of course she plans on taking that position over to.
