It's about time the BOE in these schools start showing the superintendents that they are in charge and you work for them instead of taking all the bribes and bull that comes out of there mouths. I hope Carl Palladino shows them all how to take the job seriously. When are people going to see what a mess BABS is right now trying to cover up all her lies and personal business... time to dump her not reward her!!!

SCATS said...

To 1:49PM ~~ The only trouble is that the BOE is composed of a bunch of "volunteer" wannabes that are easily led astray by their need to feel part of the insider crowd ... i.e.~ the lure of the party/dinner/drinks/retreats with the head honchos trumps common sense!

There are more rumors (I'm betting mostly true) floating around about Babs' personal life, habits, relationship issues, mgmt "style" than I can keep track of! I'm seriously considering starting a thread called "Overheard by the coffee pot ..." to discuss them. Any thoughts?

What a refreshing breath of transparency by a school board! If the Greece BOE reads this blog, PLEASE use the example of the Hamburg school board.

Hmm, maybe we could write in the names of the Hamburg school board for the next Greece BOE elections :)

SCATS....while I understand the temptation you outline in your 2:12pm posting, please don't lower yourself and/or the intent of this blog at the dissemination of malicious gossip. It really serves no purpose other than to make an already bad situation worse and detracts from the real issues at hand. I, for one, couldn't care less about Bab's personal life, habits, relationship issues, etc.....and to promote interest in them basically erodes the very reason this blog was started. Take the high road....keep it civil and focused on issues that may have a hope of resolution.

How many sitting BOE members have kids or grandkids that attend Pine Brook or Odyssey?

SCATS said...

To 3:33PM ~~ Much of what this BLOG has reported on started as "rumor" ... in Greece, getting to the truth often means believing in them. Interestingly, I can think of only one time where a big rumor turned out to have NO basis in fact. The others turned out to often be worse than what was initially rumored.

I, for one, believe that how a person conducts themself privately speaks volumes about their character, and character is the basis for much of the good, the bad or the ugly these so-called "professionals dole out to those of us footing the bill for their salaries and indiscretions.

SCATS said...

To 3:42PM ~~ TOO MANY!

Better question: How many BOE members have ties to the unions via family members, spouses, children, etc?

Answer: MOST of them!!!

Nobody's life lives up to the scrutiny that OTHERS may want to place on it. Even yours. Know how I know? Because the observers of other's behavior come from very different philosophical, moral, ethical places -- some are liberal, others are conservative, others are mid-road, etc., etc. How one conducts him/herself in private can only be "assessed" as improper or not depending on the lens the person is looking through. Responsible reporting ferrets out facts and separates them from fiction, lies, rumor, etc. It would be irresponsible of you to post the "rumors floating around" -- with no factual basis to back them up. But, you will do what you will do ---

SCATS said...

To 3:49PM ~~ How would you know what "place" I come from compared to another person who isn't you? You wouldn't ;)

By the way, it's only "private" until three people know. The topics I'm talking about have already been widely discussed, in most instances. Thanks for weighing in, Babs ;)

3:33 _ Bab's is suppose to be a leader. When our leaders have less than expected moral behavior they are called to task, if that behavior effects their job performance. (e.g.. Anthony Weiner, Bill Clinton etc, etc). She is getting a lot of money from the taxpayers to do her job. If her lifestyle in anyway affects her role as a Educational Superintendent, I don't see any reason to not terminate her contract to allow her to get her personal house in order or what ever needs to be done. But we don't need more scandals, or need to pay for them. The high moral ground needs to be taken by our elected school board to hold our leaders to the expectations of the position and not shirk from that unfortunate and unpleasant duty.

Sounds like BABS is getting nervous, maybe someone is on to HER next scandal and maybe she doesn't want people to speak publicly because she can out wit you one on one but she can't in a group and she knows it... that's why she hides....and just so you know she is the first one to take advantage of someone if they are having a tough day so don't fall for her crying routine....sorry to open your eyes.

A tad defensive there, SCATS? I wasn't implying what "place" you come from compared to others. What I AM saying is that two people can view the exact same situation in VERRRRY different ways. Not everything is about you.

And, I would say it's only "private" until two people know. Haven't you ever heard that there's no such thing as a secret that is kept between two people unless one of them is dead? Either way -- whether it's "private" or not doesn't give you license to malign people. Slander and libel laws exist for a reason.

And 3:55 - please give specific examples of how her personal choices are effecting the execution of her job responsibilities. Factual examples...not fairy tales you are told.

I for one could care about the personal life. If someone does their job and does it well what they do in their off time is of no concern of mine. Wonder why so many good talented people do not want to get involved is because of those on the side lines taking cheap shots. Who wants to subjected to that all the time. Take those to task on the job they do and leave the rest alone.

SCATS said...

To 5:51PM ~~ Nope, not defensive. I was merely putting forth an example demonstrating how you are wrong and using us both in that example :) I like to make it as easy as possible for you to understand.

Of course people CAN view things differently, or the same or similarly or ... there's a myriad of points on that spectrum. Ultimately, she is a top level, highly paid PUBLIC employee who is subject to PUBLIC scrutiny.

As for how she impacts others by her personal choices, I will sum it up in a very few words: ROLE MODEL and TRUST.

See above, 6:28PM. And please tell me about all of these "good talented" people who won't step up? If they are THAT GOOD, they will survive just fine and are confident that they can succeed.

The truth is that in public education, teachers don't want to become administrators when they can command a big salary working a part-time job.

While it is refreshing to see some transparency in a school board, it wil be interesting to see if the HSB fires the Supt. of dismisses him with a wheelbarrow full of benefits like we gave Steve Walts to get him to move on. Thanks for posting, Scats, it is interesting to see the responses.

Scats. I know which rumor it was that ended up with no basis in fact. It was the one that claimed that an Olympia student got suspended for "not breaking up a fight," right?

SCATS said...

To 9:40PM ~~ If you know, then why are you asking? Oh, that's right! You do NOT know!!

Anonymous said...

Babs is safe to the end of her current overpaid contract, regardless of what she does or doesn't do short of criminality.

People really need to learn how little authority a School Board has beyond hiring a Superintendent and approving the budget.

Thanks to years of Unions buying Politicians votes NY School Boards are powerless jokes.

Anonymous said...

As I told you before, Scats, I spoke directly with the student's FATHER about his supposed "suspension." It never happened!

SCATS said...

To 7:33AM ~~ You must be a Greece grad. Obviously, you talked to the WRONG father!

8:16 Not a correct statement. Steve Walts was not given all those perks when he left to get rid of him. He took another job in March of that year. Let's call
what his gift of 58,000 bucks of your tax dollar really was, a payoff for favors and services rendered by a corrupt board led by a financially challenged member
to be payable at a later date by Steverino.

Anonymous said...

Anyone care to bet that Steve takes on another interim job before school opens in September? He might become the king of double-dippers.

SCATS said...

To 2:27PM ~~ What do you call the lifetime health care benefit???

Anonymous said...

Lifetime health care was a part of his 2004 contract. Updated in December same year. My point to
the poster was these give-aways were not meant to get him to leave, but in
reality a last minute larceny committed by Walts and at least two board members
who knew in December, that Walts had decided to leave and conspired with him to
rip us off on the 20% increase as well as allow him to collect another $58,000
by letting him stay on the pay roll for seven days into the new school year, thus
qualifying him for all benefits and lulus for the entire 2005 school year. It
was later discovered during a later audit, he was actually in Virginia for those
seven days double dipping on two pay rolls. His suits were a combination of
silk and Teflon. The one saving grace as far as I am concerned is the fact that
these slippery types eventually lose that ability and things start to stick and
sooner or later hey slide down that slippery slope called retribution.

Geez, Scats. You'll claim pretty much ANYTHING rather than admit that the rumor going around in here was just NOT TRUE! However, I did speak to the "correct" father. He told me his son was NOT "suspended for not breaking up a fight." Instead, he was placed on in-school suspension for his own protection because some kids were "out to get him."

I'll gladly give you the father's name if you want to verify this story yourself. (I predict you won't)

SCATS said...

To 3:42PM ~~ Please tell us about retribution related to Steve Walts. As far as I've heard, it hasn't happened.

To 4:10PM ~~ Ok, now I believe you. Only in Greece Central would the district "protect" a threatened, bullied kid (they are called VICTIMS) by victimizing him again with a suspension on his record! Sounds a lot like the elementary kid who got the anti-bullying counseling to try to help her fend off the bullies, because the district won't do their job!

Please send me the father's contact info. We need to chat. (I predict you won't.)

Regarding 6:49 PM. Many talented people do not want to be dragged through the mud the way those that take on the challenge are. You could have a perfectly talented chief executive of a company who would be extremely talented to deal with a school budget or county budget but maybe everyone in their family is not perfect. Maybe they had a cousin who got a DUI or God forbid a child who got into a fight. The last thing anyone wants is for their family to be put through the wringer as is done here. I can prove my point very easily. Mr. or Mrs Scats stop being anonymous and tell us your name and address and just like those running for office fill out a financial disclosure form that lists your income and your spouses as well as all your investments and credit card balances. Now you can understand what elected officials have to go through and why some many not want to subject themselves and family to that. You may be a fine individual but if you do not post your name and variety of information, then you know why many choose not to as well. SKATS, your name??, address??, personal financial information??.....I'm waiting.

SCATS said...

To 6:46PM ~~ You are all over the map! You begin by talking about corporate CEOs and end talking about electeds. I've yet to see or hear about any CEO thinking about becoming a BOE candidate and having to disclose credit card info, for example.

Since I chose to not run for office (it takes 5 on the BOE to do anything at all!), I have no need to provide you (also an anonymous person!) with any personal info. If I were to do so, you'd find a very clean record, one that my family and I take great pride in: no bounced checks, no legal issues, no back taxes owed or no unpaid debts, no affairs, not even a parking ticket! Can you claim the same?

Anonymous said...

Scats, apparently patience is not one of your many virtues. I said "SOONER OR LATER" In his case, time and his arrogance attained as a result of getting away with his many crooked schemes will eventually catch up with him.
Eventually he will commit the same criminal and moral mistakes he made here. What will make the difference then, will be the absence of influential people
ready to bail him out as was the case while here in Greece.

SCATS said...

To 9:21AM ~~ Yes you did say that. As far as I'm concerned, it's been YEARS since Steve started pulling much of the SAME crapple in PWC. They've had quite a bit of turmoil as a result. Still, he's teflon all the way! I don't see his demise coming any time in the foreseeable future.
