How do the students get into the school unnoticed to commit such acts? They don't. Someone allowed them to do this garbage. Who allowed this and why? Such disrespect for health and safety as well as for the custodial staff that likely had to clean it up.

To 6:16PM ~~ They should use the security cams to figure out who to punish, too. ENOUGH ALREADY.

Whatever said...

Don't worry, this to shall be swept under the rug. There needs to be accountability for actions that are taken by students and staff.

Scats, that is assuming that they snuck in and did this all unnoticed. The fact is that they are allowed to do this and have some guidelines as to what they can do. The "damage" is really just garbage and the students pick it up the following day. Now, do I agree with it? No! What a waste of time and resources. All for this ridiculous "rite of passage. What did they do at the other high schools? Same thing really. Olympia students released crickets in the commons area and all they got was an afternoon home and Darien Lake! Arcadia has the same garbage spewed all over the building. as for Odyssey, I do not know. Administration does nothing and they know it, as long as it doesn't cross "the line". So, if anything, you might want to voice your disapproval of such activities and your concerns directly to DO. Whether they will do anything about it is another story. PS. These kids are so clueless to when it comes to "there" education that "there" stupid enough to think that making a video and posting it going to somehow be cool. Students of GCSD, knowing the difference between knowing "your" crap and knowing "your" crap is the key to YOUR success.

To 7:23PM ~~ I'd like to see a copy of those "guidelines" you mentioned. As for DO, they read this BLOG, so mission accomplished.

Odyssey darlings did the same thing, they had post it notes and sparkles all over the halls, they were still all over the parking lot when I went to pick my son up. He told me certain teachers allowed students to fill their rooms with some sort of foam packing substance. He said they used Saran wrap to wrap furniture and cars in the parking lot similar to what went on at Athena apparently. He said they did something in the parking lot with their cars but he didn't know what said something about showing the adults that it was their school. I do not know what it was since they had already all gone home by the time I arrived. So even though you have a school located in the same building as administrators they still feel comfortable enough and know that their principal will let them get away with anything. I know some of this is harmless and has gone on for Years but I hope the kids are made to clean up after themselves and the custodians don't have to.

I graduated from high school in the 70s and the senior pranks then make these very tame (and lame) by comparison. But then again, the drinking age was 18 back then.

Lighten up.

Also, half the graduation cards in Wegmans have the word "CONGRADULATIONS" on them. It's a play on words, so this may have been intentional.

To 10:27PM ~~ I'll "lighten up" when my school tax bill "lightens up" something other than my wallet.

How far are you willing to stretch to excuse misspellings by graduating seniors?

The video displays wanton waste!

The principals and teachers should work to change this as acceptable behavior. There re healthier and more productive rituals that could be developed. Silence is acceptance. Acceptance by letting the kids do this is embarrassing.

I work at Athena. The principal allowed 100 seniors to come in and do this. Over 200 showed up. The custodians were expected to keep an eye on them, there was no security present. The custodians were unable to control the kids, there were too many. The kids also jammed play dough in the locks and caused quite a bit of damage.

It's not a prank it is called disrespect that is the problem with kids today NO RESPECT!!

I teach is the district and I find such behavior unacceptable.

Kids ran amok without supervision and the principal allowed this? Brilliant.

To 6:01PM ~~ I call it VANDALISM.

To 7:29 & 7:41PM ~~ I agree!

TO THE PARROT ~~ Your repeated attempts to post the SAME damn question on nearly every thread are tiresome. Get a new hobby. They will no longer be posted.
