BOE Gives Us 5 More Years of Babs!

Babs' new agreement extends her term through the 2017-2018 school year with an increased salary to $204,000/year starting July 1.

Additionally,  the district agreed to pay up to 85 %  of the cost of her retiree health and dental insurance if she leaves the district after 2018.

Also, she will get an additional $6,000 payment in the 2013-14 school year only, to be applied to a tax-sheltered annuity.

What the heck did they base this on?? Ithe only thing I have seen since she came on is the district going in to the toilet more and more. She runs from bad news won't show her face and has her underlings do her dirty work. As long as she doesn't look bad. All I have seen is her pose for the camera and have someone follow her around and snap shots so she can say she was at all these various spots doing "great things" the saddest part of all this is that the board has obviously bought this show hook line and sinker, five more years huh? Why would we want another 5 years? Clearly they did not ask the communities input on this. Thanks Julia you officially sunk our battleship, there really is no place to go now but to the bottom.

To 9:50PM ~~ The school board has been wined, dined & partied into oblivion. Did I mention wine??

That's nuts. A GS15 step 10 maxes out at less than $150K outside of the major cities.

85% of retiree health and dental insurance???? Didn't we learn any lessons from the Walts mess?

The costs should not be carried beyond age 65. Furthermore, dental insurance is not economically justified. The chances of having an unsuspected major dental cost is so small, it is very difficult to justify dental insurance at all.

Frivolous costs like this should not be carried by a school district that has limited ability to raise taxes.

To 7:32AM ~~ No. We also failed to learn any lessons after a spanking by the Comptroller.

WHY are we giving FORMER (future) EMPLOYEES anything? And I don't want to hear "because everyone else does it."

Let's step back a minute and take a good look at what the board just did with this new deal. In order to do so, one must try and read between the lines as what
intent and messaging was in this addendum

First, by giving her the compensation increases reported, the BOE is expressing a vote of confidence in her leadership.

Secondly, the BOE is telling her by extending her contract that they would like her to stay on until 2018. As an incentive to her to remain, they throw in the
lifetime health care, but only if she stays full term. Nothing new here at all.

Previously, boards did this with Walts and Achromovitch with slightly different motivations, especially in the ease of Walts. In Achromovitch's case, they were
smart enough to require him to retire from any form of public education to receive the benefit. Taking the Hamburg job got us off the hook. In the case of BDW, I don't know if such a stipulation exists. In my opinion it really is irrelevant either way.

Thirdly, why do I consider the health care provision irrelevant? Simply because I believe that she has no intention of staying in her position until then. Why
would she? It is not of matter of financial need in her case we know that. I believe that at some point prior to the extension date, she will opt out for a
better opportunity. The woman is no fool and she will no doubt keep her options open.

A comment and interesting observation. I can't help myself from comparing Superintendents with Major League baseball managers. Did you ever notice that in both professions, that in spite of a poor performance with one team, they always get rehired by another. I find that to be an interesting correlation as it appears that they are consistently "recycled".

BREAKING NEWS-
Dateline- Lindenville NY

Gov. Baby Cuomo has ordered all NY National Guard ambulances & bus ambulances to Lindenville.

Those farmers are laughing so hard they're breaking ribs.

Not only has GCSD dumbed down graduates to STOOPPPUD, the GCSD BOE too has fallen into Dullard Cavern.

All hail Babs the Magnificent!

What the hell does she do to actually deserve that kind of salary?! She is invisible.

WTF! This is a joke right? How could you (BOE) in your right mind, knowing that she is not around when the crap hits the fan, that you would go ahead and give her a contract extension? To the BOE.......you are all pathetic hypocrites who have no clue of what you are doing there. There should be some minimum qualifications to serve on a board, none of which you all have.

SCATS said...

To 7:34AM ~~ Actually, they do have the minimum qualifications. And it shows!

The same qualification needed to work at Walmart, and that might be offensive to Walmart workers because they probably do more.

But we keep electing (and re-electing) them. Why?

utomanal all,2:57 it's simple nobody wants the job. Why don't you apply next year?

Would this person have been better?

To 12:10PM ~~ I believe so and have stood by that since she interviewed for the Greece job. Sadsly, firing a coach in Greece means the BOE will step in & put YOU under the microscope.

Maybe Babsie is ging to go manage Park Ridge till RGH takes it over.

Hearn sure screwed the pooch there with the help of his select group of mismanagers who got rid of the Sr Managers who knew how to run a hospital.

Hearn sure is quiet about falling damn near 50% short on the nonprofit return for 2012. There's nobody left to fire.
