Barnard Carnival: Not For Family Fun

In case you missed it, last evening was the opening of the Barnard Carnival with the parade, the midway and amusement rides.

Based upon many remarks left by Facebook friends, it sounds like a great place to avoid, especially if you have younger children.

The comments spanned from observations about they felt too few police were present to the fact that parents were getting drunk and letting their kids run wild.

Many commented about the large roving bands of disrespectful teens who use loud, foul language, lacked appropriate clothing and attempted to instigate fights. One person described it as "a crazy ghetto now."

Were these comments posted publically on FB, or were they sent to you via private messages? Thanks.

To 10:16AM ~~ Some posted on SCATS' FB friend's walls, some reported to me privately on FB and via email to the BLOG.

When you ask about Facebook, I don't know what settings other people opt to use to show postings on their walls. I only know that I was able to view them.

SCATS' posts & comments are only for most of SCATS' Facebook friends to view.

Hmmm, why wouldn't they post them on the Scats FB wall?

To 10:28AM ~~ Probably because they attended the carnival or parade with families/friends, made a wall post of their own thoughts and then others added to the conversation. That's how Facebook is typically used!

Let's keep to the topic of this thread please: The Barnard Carnival.

Speculation about who writes what and where on Facebook is not my concern.

We went to the carnival briefly before the parade. Things were OK then. After the parade it was a disaster. I don't think we'll be going back.

We tried to walk through after the parade. It was crowded, scary. Lots of riff raff. We left. No plans to go back either.

Baxter was front and center matching with the new police dog. He's never in his office but is always around for those photo opps while his renegade cops walk all over us tax payers. What a smooth operator he is.

Check out the law enforcement officers drunk in the beer tent.

Boring parade full of politicians. Best part was Mrs. Greece Democrat falling out of the Corvette.

What gives with the Greece Democrats this year? In past years they had a pretty good turnout but it seemed there were like over 100 people walking with the Republicans. I thought we were making a comeback!
