The published meeting minutes are always bland to the point of being worthless. Listening to the radio broadcast isn't an option for some of us. Anybody who wants to provide a valuable community service could consider preparing "unofficial" minutes of the meetings and publishing them, e.g. here on this blog, or on their own blog.

To 10:12AM ~~ TY for the link. I did post a link from FB about her troubles and being relieved of her duties the other day. In fact, it sounds as if Walts, Achramovitch & Meg all are having trouble right now. Greece sure knows how to pick 'em.

To 10:13AM ~~ While I am not interested in doing Meeting Minutes since much of the stuff they cover goes little farther than the vote on what you see on the agenda, I do try to address certain topics when there is DISCUSSION or 'news' to share. I'd say that 85+% of their meetings are nothing more than dry drivel these days. They don't want us knowing what's going on.

You can catch the presentations on the GCSD website, or often in my BLOG prior to meetings when there's a link to them.

Are the Bored Bunch behind the mattress sale?

Will the crap ever end?

Fundraiser- Mattress Sale - $1 (North Greece)
Hi,
Greece Athena is holding a Mattress fundraiser at the North Greece Fireman'as Pavilion (3666 Latta Rd) on May 19th from 10am to 5 pm. Mattresses are marked 30% to 60% below cost. Experts will be available to answer all questions. If you need a mattress please check it out and help the volleyball team. If you are interested email me back and I will send you a coupon to receive a free boxspring with your purchase. I can also forward the school flyer with additional information on it.

Thanks:)

To 1:58AM ~~ Last spring they held this sale on the side of Latta Rd up near the entrance to 390!

I wonder if they have to pay to use the Fireman's Field Pavilion the way the rest of us peons do?

Is it just me or is there something seemingly inappropriate about a bunch of young girls from the volleyball team peddling bedding to strangers?

To 5/14/2013 10:13 AM ~~ Just an FYI ... I listened to last night's meeting and it was another yawner. There was little discussion, except about 2 policies up for a read. Without having the changes available, it would be tough to comment on that sort of stuff. We don't get to see any of it until after it's approved.

BOE meetings are so bad, even the union reps avoid them!

The comment posted by 7:29AM has been deleted & reposted in edited form minus specific fundraiser info & an offer to another poster:

Hi 1:58am,
I am responsible for the mattress fundraiser. I am the coach of the team hosting it. What is the issue with hosting a fundraiser to generate funds so my athletes can attend clinics and leagues to become better at their sport? Fundraising is a common part of ALL high school athletics. This specific fundraiser has also been hosted in just about every other district on both the East and West side of the city. The advertisement you stumbled on while looking for mattresses on craigslist is just another way to market the event and hopefully bring in customers. If you would like to talk to me about the sale or shop for a new mattress, stop down to the:

(Info deleted)

If we have a nice conversation I will give you (offer deleted).

To 7:29AM ~~ Here's MY beef with fundraisers: If a school district doesn't provide the funding IN THE BUDGET to support the programs, services, etc. that they value and offer, then maybe that program should be considered for ELIMINATION! Providing science class without lab equipment, math class without textbooks and sports programs without proper gear is 100% DYSFUNCTIONAL!!!! I don't care what sort of dysfunction other districts engage in. I care about Greece because they TAX ME TO CARE!

If it's worth having, it's worth FUNDING PROPERLY!

I'd like to know the TRUE COST of GCSD to the community, but we'd be hardpressed to figure it out with 17 PTA's, dozens of athletic teams and many other groups all hitting up the community with their hands out every year for MORE $$. Let's face it, they raise additional MILLIONS OF $$$s.

Since when is it koshher to have a bunch of young women peddling mattresses to strangers OFF OF SCHOOL DISTRICT PROPERTY??? WHY ISN"T THIS DONE IN A GYM or other DISTRICT BUILDING???

What's next? Sex toy party sales?

Matresses at 30-60% below cost? Really? Whose cost?. If true, I'll take them all!

To 3:50PM ~~ Better be sure these aren't some of those old filthy ones that some scammer in the area was recovering & selling as new a couple years ago.

They probably got a deal on them mattresses from that Al Melutus fellow who used to be a security guard at McCurdys till he got into Greece politics and became an executive at a mattress store on Ridge by Long Pond till the store went belly up. There were probably mattresses left over. Maybe they stored em in the special room where the Super Piano lives.

Don't much matter, my boy Ernest wants me to take him to the sale so he can meet some sports girls and maybe get himself a date, or at least a mattress demonstration from a live girl. He figures a girl peddling bed stuff ought to be impressed by a young man with a job and money in his pocket. Ernest has $19.27 saved up from his part time job dragging garbage cans out of KFC.
