"You Are Living In A Dream World."

Resident Tom Tischer lambastes Greece BOE about the growth in their budget given reduced enrollments and the economy in recent years.

"It's excessively generous due to the expired teacher's contract (2006)."

"You spend, spend ... spend all of the time!"

"What is the cost per student? I don't think you have the courage to provide that (cost) to the community."

SCATS ~~ Yes, Tom. You are correct on EVERY point you made!

$206,011,990 ... and growing ... just like our national debt!

New hero in town. Go man, go!

This may or may not be off topic, but according to D/O sources none of the BOE members whose terms are up have taken out a petition to run again and petitions are due in a week and a half. Rumor has it one is even moving out of town. Let's hope this is true and we can get a change in the board and get rid of the crazy blond with the painted on lips and the sing songy voice. Maybe Julia doesn't have the control she thinks she has.

To 4:43AM ~~ Get him on the BOE!

To 7:54AM ~~ I hope you are correct. Wouldn't it be "funny" if the person moving was fleeing for better schools? Julia "controls" a bunch of hypnotized union backers. There's no challenge there.

4:43 What's so heroic about addressing the BOE. Cost per student can be had by FOIL. Get him on the board? What for? If so, he would be ONE vote out of nine. Need five to move your agenda item and a second to even come to the floor. O'Toole will run at the last minute as usual.

To 11:28AM ~~ At least with one outsider on the BOE,there's a chance he/she would ask tough questions, object to certain ideas or procedures (like Julia's inept handling of Resident's Forum), inform of us about things the others prefer to keep quiet, etc.

O'Toole has missed so many meetings, she is doing everyone a disservice.

Scats, I'm sorry but most of us who supported Joe Guinan, thought he would ask the tough questions especially on spending. Didn't happen. He has said or done
nothing that he promised to do. Another Bill Russell type. McCabe is the odd man out as it now stands. He is simply riding out his term as he knows that if he
wanted to bring a motion to the table, he couldn't garner a second to allow a discussion. It's that bad. If the complexion of the board is going to change, a coalition of candidates running as a team e.g. HMO guys will shift the balance of power within two years.

To 2:43PM ~~ I agree about Grinnen being a total disappointment ... but then look who "groomed him" to be on the BOE!

As for getting 5 votes on inside of 2 years time ... we've been down this path before. Every time it happens, our "rescuers" end up becoming part of the overall dysfunction! Those who work in DO know how to pit one against the other, how to use their "power" to their advantage. And they do it well enough to cause infighting that results in the suppoesed 5 votes disagreeing!

Reducing the size of the board would be a step in the right direction - if no one runs fine!

Charlie ~~ I'm sure we could do with just 5 or 7. At the very least, it would shorten BOE meetings by another 20 minutes of "feel good" fluff and back-patting.

I might be an imbecile, but cost per student is the total budget divided by the number of students in the district. It isn't rocket science.

To 6:52PM ~~ I agree, you just might be! If it's so darned easy to get the figure then why doesn't GCSD give it to us? Perhaps because their enrollments are a different number EVERY time they mention them ... ?
