Is Bab's Priming To Leave?

Miz Dee-Dubbya ~ "Babs"

Pssst. Hey Scats. You may have noticed a new website posted by the school district today. Might I point out a few things. 1) Who paid for it, and how much did it cost? I think someone should foil that information - quickly. 2) Why are there only pics of Babs on there? Is this a company, or school district? Is this an ego booster for the super? Sure looks like it. Odd how she appears so "connected" when in fact she can never be found. Why are we paying thousands for an unnecessary website? Could those funds have gone toward...you know...education? Seriously. Someone needs to foil this info. I have a feeling the cat feces are about to hit the fan.

SCATS ~~ Yes, I saw the new website. There are wayTOO many buttons, menus, etc! It's visual clutter looks like someone got very high and tried to out-do Facebook! Whatever happened to the KISS principle, Jeff?

I'm told Bab's recently hired a professional photographer to follow her around like a puppy. The new website looks as if orders were followed! I wonder how much THAT cost us peons, too.

Maybe she's preparing to depart for better pastures ... her evaluation is coming up !

Actually, I saw it too... I like the big pictures and format much better than the old one. I feel like the menus, although a bit expansive show a lot more of the content. More sites are going toward this format. Look at ESPN. Scats could de clutter their front page a little..

To 10:47AM ~~ You like "big pictures" huh? Do you like them with just one sentence per page, too? lol

You say you like all the gizmos on GCSD then say SCATS is cluttered?? WHAT would you like me to remove?

Just an FYI ~ The Labels/Index & Archives material help to locate past items. I use them frequently, and I suspect quite a few others do too, judging by the popularity of specific older BLOGs that are viewed each week.

Hello...you are seriously comparing it to ESPN?? It is a school district, not a nationwide sports channel. They often have half naked women from Sports Illustrated, so the Greece website should to? It should have easy to find information pertaining to students and schools which by the way can only be found way at the top. We do not need to see giant pictures of the super, we all know what she looks, she loves to have her picture taken, just look at the twitter pics. Enough already we don't need to see them supersized every time we log on now. I personally hate the new site, it is not easy to use at all. I do not have bad eyesight however I still can't even read that mini font on the drop downs. It is so cluttered and busy that people are going to give up even looking. I did notice that the board has a nice big new ya so they are easy to find, maybe the new site was BABS gift to the board prez. So how much money was wasted on this new debacle of a site? I thought they just received some major award for their site, so why in the world would she allow money to be wasted on a new one that is ridiculous to navigate. ? I am sure nobody will ask including the borard. If you like the format of ESPN go there buddy, this is a school with information for parents and community, not that you would tell by the new and so called improved look. I guess this new photographer I just read about will have her hands full taking BABS pics for this crazy new thing, wonder how many teachers lost their jobs for what was spent on this new site and a paparazzi photographer. Nice job people.. Great way to get people to vote your budget down, I don't agree with how your choosing to spend my tax dollars.

This is what we are paying a tax rate increase yet again for. A newly designed web page...? I would demand the tens of thousands that BABS probally dished out for this piece of crap back. This is the most cluttered and confusing concept I have seen. Those drop downs that appear and fill the whole screen are ridiculous. Not only can't you read them because they are way too small but there are way too many. This is not improved and most certainly not easier to navigate. As a parent I do not need a gigantic picture that stretches from one side of my screen to the other only to have to hunt around for anything that a parent finds relevant. I gave up looking. The only things I clearly had no problem finding was the board of education like a previous poster mentioned, do they really think parents go to the site to find information on them? And the strategic plan, why once again does that stand out in several easy to find places when a parent has to hunt all over for a simple lunch menu? One more comment, the calendar buttons are a waste, you need a secret decoder ring to make heads or tails of that thing. There is so much listed there, half of which isn't even correct, and you are trying to pass that off as a list of upcoming events. You should have saved us all the money and just left wht you had alone, at least you could see important things all at once instead of a photo montage and then having to play hide and seek. It looks like a business site not a parent friendly site. I would have liked to see that money you blew spent in my kids classroom. Do we poor saps get to see how much yu unnecessarily wasted? Did the board give their seal. Of approval to make this unnecessary purchase, I do not remember reading or hearing about a cost associated with this. Then again it may be buried some where deep in the labarynth but we just can't find it easily amongst all the tiny drop downs

Someone should seriously FOIL any and all information associated with this abortion of tax payer dollars. Perhaps the "watchdog" reporter at the D&C will do so - and hopefully sooner than later. It's time babs was made to answer to this crap. And what's with only pictures of babs? Does she think she's a CEO of a company?

SCATS said...

To 7:28PM ~~ While they are at it, they should FOLI the minutes of the meeting where the vote was taken for the side deal made with GTA to not use the test results in firings. I'd love to see them scramble to concoct something ;)

MEMO: from BDW
to: SCATS

Look Mr Purr, keep your nose out of my personal photog. I decided I deserve one and I run this sport er I mean school district.

My Hubbipoo loves my pics stretched out on that expensive piano belting out torch songs, and I damn well ain't letting no photo student take them pictures.

Go back to your yarnball class and have some catnip.

To 2:56PM ~~ Getting awfully testy, aren't we?? lol

Is it a coincidence that there are NO pictures of actual students rather people from DO. What pompous and pretentious !@#$% these people are! I bet that all those pictures are staged or doctored to let the public believe that they are working towards making this district the best. Even commissioner King looks like he has been hoodwink into partaking in this farce. Suprise!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

The look doesn't bother me as much as the assertion that the redesign is for the good of the public. Barb rules the district like a dictator ...what she wants she gets and she obviously wanted a pretty new website. Its true purpose is to distract taxpayers from the fact that things are getting worse not better. She gives the board what they want so they don't ask questions. we've been fooled by a pretty package without substance before, looks like history is repeating itself.

I Agree with 5:44. All those twitter pics look staged and phony, and let's face it they are all self promoting. Look at all the great committee work we do here in D.O. , she appears in every training and committee pic but you won't find her in any pics or on tv in a time of crisis. I don't remember seek her in any news shots during the Bus Monitor incident or anything of controversy for that matter. Twitter and Facebook just show everyone how self serving those in charge are, guess that is why they needed to hire a professional photographer. Just another example of money mis-spent. Great way to show everyone your true colors in a giant in your face montage as soon as you sign on the site.

I must be missing something here. i just went to the GCSD website. (at least I think I did. Is it the same address as before?) On the opening page, I expected to see all those pictures of BDW that everyone's been complaining about. Guess what? Didn't see her in ANY of the "opening pics" (5 of them). What am I missing?

Anonymous said...

Also went to GCSD's FaceBook page. Looked at their "photos" link. Again, hardly ANY pictures showing BDW. Why all the complaints?

SCATS said...

To 3:35PM & 3:39PM ~~ LMAO!!! That is too, too funny!!! As usual, DO reads this website & adjusts as they see fit! When this BLOG was posted on Saturday, Babs' pics were plastered all over! In fact, they were still there yesterday AM ... guess she really detests criticism, especially if she's aiming to depart soon.

Anonymous said...

Hey Jeff, I see you took care of the complaint and posted some students from GCSD and in turn came to the defense of BDW. Nice job! You are worth the 100k that they pay you...... NOT!

In all fairness to Jeff and all the other employees, what choice do they really have but to do whatever she asks or tells them to. The other option is unemployment. She apparently wanted a new website so she got one, even if it is a crappy one. It isn't parent friendly but then again neither is she.

The pictures disappeared because she was most likely told by Ms. Jules that people were complaining that they were getting tired of watching the I Love Barbara Dean channel. Too many regular folk were pointing out that it no longer looked like a school website but more like a company. Gigs up, quick take them down and throw up a few kids and maybe people will lay off for awhile. At least til after the vote then Jeff and the others in his goof troop in the web photo can go back to doing her bidding and start airing the reruns of I Love BDW on Comedy Central...oh wait I mean Greece centrals new website.

I appreciate the fact that they are making an effort to post students in the large web pics but could you perhaps take a moment to think about how it looks putting up a kid that is wearing a winter hat in almost 80 degree weather. From the story that goes with it these are the students that we are hoping to mold in to college material. We must be failing them horribly at the middle/high level if they aren't bright enough to know not to dress like that. I would hope that whatever administrator or teacher that went with them on the college visit may have encouraged him to maybe ditch the hat. Apparently the stipend wasn't big enough for that sort of dedication. I'm sure the group made a great first impression of the new Avid program. I am still not sure exactly what the program intent is after reading the story. But I will give kudos for making an attempt to feature kids even if it was a poor choice.

SCATS said...

To 5:27PM ~~ Regardless how it looks, wearing one during school is against policy. And I don't care that he was at Brockport. If you are repesenting our district, you do it according to our rules, in addition to theirs. It's a matter of respect. Shame on DO for posting that pic, instead of taking the kid to task. Greece policies, rules & laws seem to pertain to a minority in specific situations only.

Anonymous said...

(1) Complain that there are no pictures of kids, then (2) when pictures of kids DO get posted, complain about the pictures. Geez!

SCATS said...

To 3:04PM ~~ Just because pics of kids were posted doesn't make those pics acceptable. Thumbing your nose at policy by wearing a hat is on the same level as flipping the bird to the camera.

How about the kid with the backpack in class? Are the backpacks allowed in class? What is the rule about backpacks? Just curious.

SCATS said...

To 5:50PM ~~ I find no reference to that issue in the Code of Conduct.

To the person who wanted mention of the fundraiser: If you've followed me for any length of time, you would know that I vehemently oppose most fundraisers associated with our school district. My reasons are many. Here's a few:

1 - Students should be spending time on classwork & homework, not learning door-to-door sales.

2 - If the fundraiser is to provide for some sort of school trip, equipment, service/program, etc. then it SHOULD BE PART OF THE BUDGET. If it's not in the budget, then I presume it's not valued by the BOE/Supt. and therefore not necessary.

3 - If the fundraiser is to provide for some form of charity, then GCSD needs to go back to square one & learn that charity comes VOLUNTARILY from within the individual and is NOT forced upon the person. The "competitive pressure" makes these events into pseudo-sporting events.

4 - Since our BOE & Supt. keep telling us we have so many "poor students" then let the students' families benefit on their taxes for contributions made by them.

SCATS said...

To the person who claims it wasn't a fundraiser: then WTH do you call it when specific activities are held to bring in donations for a charity???

As usual, crickets are chirping in response to the question I asked.

BTW, name-calling & bullying won't get your comments posted.
