BOE Special Meeting, Tuesday @6:30PM

AGENDA ITEMS of NOTE

Adoption of Budget ($205,511,990)

Adoption of Bus Proposition

Adoption of Property Tax Report Card

Order for Medical Examination ~ RESOLVED, that the Board, pursuant to its authority under Education Law § 913, hereby directs that a tenured teacher be required to undergo such medical examinations as are necessary to determine that individual’s fitness to perform the responsibilities of the individual’s position.

SCATS ~~ Could we order mental health exams for the Supt & BOE, too ... while we're at it. Maybe we can get a "group rate."

Scats; what is the purpose of the resolution?

Charlie ~~ I assume you mean the one ordering the teacher to see a doctor. All I know is what I posted. It's not as if this BOE discusses ANYTHING outside Exec. Session.

Strange that they would post even this much. Involuntary referral should be private, and to protect privacy you should not only conceal names but also timing (people "in the know" can connect the timing of the referral to events and figure out who it must be).

To 4:58AM ~~ When the BOE & DO want to crucify someone, they usually find a means for doing so. I agree about connecting the dots, but maybe that just makes us "smarter than a BOE member." Don't tell them, OK? lol

Any vote on any item must be done so in open session. One can't prevent the connecting the dots phenomenon........people often do it with much less incriminating information.

To 2:13PM ~~ LMAO!!! Based upon your theory (which I know is supposed to be based upon the law/rules/procedures/policies), how do you explain the fact that there has not been another such vote in my 25 years of board-watching?? Not one other teacher has EVER been in such dire need (and deep denial) for medical attention?

This reminds me of back when district office was getting a bit of a cleaning following the departures of Walts/Keller-Cogan. There was ONE NAMED INDIVIDUAL who was made an example of with a vote by the BOE to terminate him for "crimes" we weren't allowed to hear about. Quite a few others lost their jobs, but NONE with such humiliation. They definitely do protect certain people, and feed others to the wolves, as they so choose to do.

We would like to think that things are always done within the rules and regulations, but from this administration it seems that many things are done behind closed doors. There should be absolutely no bargaining or deal making when dealing with the public's money. I am going to FOIL everything and when I do not get what I know, I will begin the procedure to sue the district and its administrators for fraud! There is no way, other than the retracting of someone's name, that there should be anything that is not done or known to the public. The purpose of the BOE is to be the oversight of such rules and regulations and that when something occurs that is not right, the BOE should take appropriate measures to rectify such oversight. I have never seen anything so blatantly political and/or private to warrant such criticism. These people, BOE and Administration, feel that this responsibly that they have been granted comes with the perks of personalization. Surprise, it does not! You are the eyes and ears of the community and therefore should answer ONLY to the community!

To 5:43PM ~~ The secrecy began long ago but became much worse when Achromovich left. With an ill interim in place & Nadolinski sitting in, LOTS of things suddenly became Executive Session material. Under Babs, it's grown worse. Largely, I blame our BOE Prez. who SHOULD know better.

If there's anything SCATS can do to help you, let us know. We believe in OPEN GOVT.

Termination is a matter of public record. Someone getting a medical examination under 913 IS NOT. You always search for the hidden meanings and I just know you wish that you're going to find "the smoking gun" that puts this district under. You won't. But keep trying.

To 1:24PM ~~ When I referenced those terminated after Keller-Cogan was gone, I was referring to those whom were NAMED in a publicly read resolution, vs. those who were quietly "terminated" away from the cameras & mics. I know of a couple of rather lowly peons who were thus humiliated in comparison to the higher ups who were quietly shown the door. GCSD knows how to, AND does crucify any they deem to be their foes.
