Hey SCATS, look north of the border for examples of what happens to frisky feline bloggers who cross their local school boards:

For all the dysfunction we have in Greece, at least we're not yet as bad as Toronto!

To 2:20AM ~~ Hahahaha!!! I love the BLOG titled "Blazingcatfur"!!

You DO know there have been Executive Session discussions in Greece about trying to use legal pressure to stop SCATS, don't you??

Charlie Hubbard said...

Scats, your kidding about this being a comment from a board member - right??

Anonymous said...

Scats, who is your "source" of information on what is discussed in "Executive Sessions"? (grin) Should they be discussing this with the "general public"?

SCATS said...

Sorry to say Charlie, but it's NO joke. Of course he's the same genius who said: "Gulp and go forward and see what happens" about permitting cell phones in the schools. Ask Athena how that's been workin' for them ;)

SCATS said...

To 2:51PM ~~ As they have come to know (and trust me), I protect my sources.

Anonymous said...

Scats, wouldn't you be upset if you found out a board member was sharing what was said in an executive session with someone OTHER than YOU???

SCATS said...

To 10:35PM ~~ Do you REALLY think they don't???

By the way, they are conducting WAY TOO MUCH of their business behind closed doors! Not everything that relates to persinnel, contracts or legal issues needs to be hush-hush! There's almost no discussion at their meetings about decisions that impact taxpayers, students, etc. But hey, I realize how "special" they feel retaining their dysfunctional control on things that should be open to the public for discussion.

Why on earth would anyone trust someone they don't know like you? I guess the only answer is your identity is known by your informant on the board, or more likely, some of them do tell their friends what goes on and that friend is one of your snitches who obediently passes the info on to you by email. As for their discussing ways to declaw you, I don't think so. That is wishful thinking on your part. As my info tells me, they consider you a minor distraction at best. If you think about it, nothing you or others have said here has had even the slightest impact on changing the way they conduct the business of the BOE.

To 9:56AM ~~ For someone who professes to be "in the know" ... you "know" so little!

A lot of people, all of them STRANGERS, have come to trust me over 7+ years time. SCATS has been constant AND consistent - both of which build trust ;)

I don't require any sort of "wishful thinking" since the continual scandals and negative headlines keep me quite busy, as it is! There have been discussions about legal action against me, but it was not pursued. By the way, I didn't say when this happened, so perhaps YOU should stop spouting off about things you obviously have NO knowledge of ;)

The mere existence of the BLOG keeps them on their toes. It's a rapid way to spread word to the masses who DO READ IT AND it alerts other media to start asking questions they might not otherwise bother with. Without SCATS, the D&C reporter would have run out of good story ideas long ago, right Meaghan?? lol

Ask yourself: Why has the BOE stopped public discussion under Julia's rule? Why has even chatty O'Toole clammed up? They "believe" they have stopped their leaks. They haven't :)

my own 2 bits - rambling - probably a bit off the subject - but got me going...

1. Freedom of Speech - whoo-hoo!

2. You don't always have to agree w/what everybody says/thinks - just be polite and let them have their say (even if they are stinkin wrong sometimes...)

3. Gossip/news travels fast - whether right or wrong - at least it is keeping folks heads out of the ground/off of their over-used cell phones and hopefully asking some questions that might...just might....better their lives!

4. what's the expression?..."knowledge is power"

5. I've only recently returned to Greece for 2 months now and didn't really shine up to SCATS right off the bat cause cats/chickens apparantly don't mix...but that doesn't mean I'm not open to somebody elses point of view.
(or that Greece is simply not into sustainable living....but I digress)

6. I read SCATS daily now and share the good, the bad, and the ugly with friends,co-workers,etc.
and even after I move away from Greece (most likely next year) - I'll probably still tune in...I find it kinda nifty.

Thanks SCATS!
Amanda

To Amanda ~~ THANK YOU!!!

Please tell everyone I didn't pay you to write that! lol :)

PS ~~ Knowledge IS power which is why the powers that be attempt to keep the sheeple of Greece in the dark. Ask 9:56AM ;)

Geez, Scats. Funny how comments like Amanda's get posted every time. But the last 4-5 comments that *I* sent you never saw the light of day. (No, they did not contain swearing, name-calling, bullying, or any of the other "no-nos" you disdain.) True they were critical of you, but they were politely-stated. Interesting.

SCATS said...

To 4:03PM ~~

Q: How do you know ALL of Amanda's comments got posted??

A: YOU DON'T!

As for your last 4-5 comments not getting posted, I'm not seeing that as the case at all. It's been well over a week since ANY comment didn't get posted. The most recent was signed from someone calling themself a "Badge Bunny."

If you want to be sure your comment gets posted in the future, you might try staying on topic instead of turning it around to a discussion of SCATS ... can't hurt to try ;)

I wouldn't be surprised that there are discussions at board meetings... even Adam Smith commented back in the day on how hard it is to keep people from musing about colluding. Discussions that lead to no action, just venting of frustrations, are just a sign of human frailty. To be expected.

But how well known are you to insiders? I will grant you that we outsiders neither know nor really care (you're much more interesting online than you probably are in person), but insiders can take their professional frustrations out personally.

Hey kitty cat this is 9:56. You got your panty hose in a knot for no good reason. In my post I was merely pointing out the fact that this blog has not changed the way this board conducts business meetings. I'm sure they are interested in what is posted here, as they should be. I actually agree with you and am personally disgusted with the content and conduct of the present BOE. It would appear that others share our views on this subject as evidenced by the empty chairs at meetings. What is that famous saying police use at incidents? – “Nothing to see here, folks” - that about sums it up. The D&C reporter doesn’t even attend. However, don't be too quick to blame Julia, she calls The Question but the other eight mouths stay shut. I would put the blame elsewhere -- our Superintendant. She has compromised each of them with her one-on-one luncheon meetings. This is right out of the Steve Walts’ book on the fine art of governance. By the way, don't be so quick to label me as uninformed. My intelligence network is as good or better than yours. If you want to get their attention, call for and succeed in getting their budget rejected on this blog

To 3:01AM ~~ You really hurt my E-Feelings with: "you're much more interesting online than you probably are in person"!! :(

SCATS said...

To 10:25AM ~~ I do NOT wear pantyhose! Like Superman, I wear tights ;)

As for blaming our Supt ... while I agree that it's a low trick for her to lure our BOE with food, drink, parties, etc., in the end, it is THEIR CHOICE to go down that path. I've heard many of them have ... quite willingly, too.

About the budget: as much as I would like to get it defeated, the reality is that I probably don't have the necessary resources to educate a population of senior citizens who no longer go to the polls ... thanks to the bogus "savings" of the STAR program. The in-house group of parents and teachers that DO counts on to pass the budget continues to shrink ... so hope remains ... Notice that they aren't very worried about their HUGE budget increase this year? Also they don't seem too concerned about our wallets. I believe a HEFTY tax increase is coming this time around.

Q: How do they continue to grow huge budgets with shrinking enrollments, fewer buildings & reductions in teachers??

A: SMOKE & MIRRORS!

I fail to understand what legal remedies the District could pursue with regard to this blog and critical comments. However, individual board members might have standing if members of that person’s family are maligned by name and it is deemed to be slanderous. I have seen some comments here that could approach that standard in a civil action. Remember, anyone can sue. The courts would have the last say on the actionable accusations claimed but that’s what lawsuits are all about. If a judge allows the complaint to go forward, there is no such thing as non-disclosure of the identity of the defendant.

SCATS said...

To 6:06PM ~~ You'll have to ask them to explain it to you. As for suing for slander, lots of such suits go to court, but few are won. It's a really tough thing to prove. Regarding their family members, I don't really think much has been said that rises to that level that wasn't associated with something like their own Tweets getting posted. There's a part of me that would love to see the community's reaction to them wasting tax $$'s to sue an anonymous BLOG while the district falls apart around them. Maybe I can get that budget defeated after all ... hmmm ...

Hmmmm... What WAS the original topic here? I forgot.

To 9:31PM ~~ The Budget ;)

Hard to tell since, once again, it has become "all about Scats"!

To 9:57AM ~~ I know how badly that eats at you, but you could get a BLOG of your own, ya know?

By the way, I don't usually write BLOGs about me. It's YOU, the reading audience, that can't retain your focus on the issues. It's a large part of the dysfunction of this town and our "leaders" capitalize on it ;)
