For all you doubters...
Check the police reports for Thurs. 1/31, 2:10 pm call at Athena for approx. 50 student mass in rear lot - Athena student v. College student with friends along. Snowplow stakes used as weapons...And a number of combatants. It's on FB and Twitter! Also reference Fri 2/1 2:10 p.m. call for another 50 student mass with a fight involving a number of students at Athena. A number of arrests reported. Didn't see many security (only 1 initially, 2nd appeared way too late)! How many are in the building at this time of day? I see alot every morning! Don't see many in the afternoon. And why is 2:00 p.m. a bad time to get a Police response on a 911 call such as these? Doesn't GPD know that 7000 children leave school at this time? Perhaps our now never present Chief can answer this one.    2/01/2013 5:33 PM

Reports of students with weapons on school buses, in parking lots, locker rooms and other places on Greece Central School District property continue to emerge.

Friends, parents, employees & students continue to report to SCATS about specific incidents of fighting and/or discovery of weapons, especially at the Athena campus.

Maybe we need less administration and more police in schools able to enforce behavior rules with detention and other consequences.

To 10:37AM ~~ Maybe we need some HONESTY by GCSD, too. I'm hearing that parents are learning about the problems by reading it on this BLOG, in the media or through their kids. What happened to the timely communication & transparency?

Friends, parents, employees & students continue to report to me that unsubstantiated claims have little to no value. :-)

To 12:37PM ~~ Have another long, slow belt of that DO brew otherwise known as Kool-Aid. Despite the photo evidence, you didn't believe the kid smashed into those cars at Athena either. Some of these incidents made it into the police reports of the local paper, too.

And for what it's worth, GCSD has yet to deny ANY of them happened :)

The kids at Athena would never do such a thing. They are outstanding students. More hearsay on this blog.

To 2:17PM ~~ Was that a generous dose of sarcasm I detected?

For me Scats, those dots don’t connect…

Of course, I believe the car wreck at Athena occurred. It was scary and unfortunate and appropriate follow up from family, school and law enforcement should occur. But unless “car” equals "weapon" it’s not evidence to support your claim in this thread.

While its clear that there is room for improvement at the GCSD (like any big organization), I will choose to take another swig of the Kool-Aid, thank you. Just don't try to serve me Scats-Aid. It tastes of bitterness and negativity.

To 3:39PM ~~ Take off your rose-colored glasses so you can see the dots AND how they connect. Most intelligent people realise that a car IS A WEAPON. I was taught that in Driver's Ed class and I know my older kids were too. Here's a link so you can refrain from drinking the Kool-Aid: http://onlinedriversed.com/?mv=1785

Since the Athena student was a REPEAT OFFENDER in the parking lot mayhem, I believe he used his car as a weapon. Thank God no one got injured, maimed or worse.

Thanks for the link and for your willingness to speak for "most intelligent people."

I would argue that while a car can be a weapon, only intentionality makes it so. If you believe he was trying to hurt somebody then I accept your premise. I think it was more likely youthful indiscretion and very poor judgment with profound consequences... and yes, thank God the damage was only to cars not people.

What would GPD deny? And where would they deny it?

To 4:31PM ~~ Let's face reality. YOU would argue that the sun rose in the East today, just because it was posted on SCATS ;)

To 5:29PM ~~ You are confused ... again ...

To 5:33PM ~~ Thank you!

Where are you seeing the police reports posted? Can you provide a web address?

2PM happens to be shift change time and the kids know this to be a fact. Now you know. In case you don't understand the implications of this fact I will explain. At that time those officers going off duty and those coming on are all in house Thus officers coming on depending on the nature of the 911 call, take the call at one of the two precincts after line up, special instructions from the watch commander and a review of incidents handled by the previous watch
Checking out out their assigned vehicle making sure the car is fully equipped with all necessary items and all equipment is properly functioning This SOP for all PD's The exception to this proceedure is of course an emergency or report of a crime in progress in which case the appropriate number of on duty officers are immediately dispatched. I don't know the procedure employed by GPD, But as a deputy , I was required to report for duty 15 minutes prior to the start of my shift to handle such emergency calls so as to cut down on overtime and response time during shift change.

I'm not confused. At 1:01, you said GPD yas yet to deny any of these reports. I was wondering where would GPD deny any of these things happened? Here? It's not like there's any actual news reports out there to deny.

What has happened to Athena? It used to be the best school in Greece and now it has become like all the rest.

To 8:10PM ~~ Please go back to my comment that you are attempting (but failing) to quote. It does NOT say "GPD" ... it says GCSD ;)

To 8:34PM ~~ Same thing that's happened to Odyssey.

With the posting of videos clearly showing the fighting at ATHS, I can't wait for 2/01/2013 12:37 PM & 2/01/2013 3:39 PM & 2/01/2013 4:31 PM to chime in about how all the "rumors" are just "unsubstantiated" "hearsay" etc. At this point, it's safe to say that these naysayers are suffering from deep denial and thirst for more District Office Kool-Aid ... REALITY CHECK TIME IS UPON US!
