Beware GCSD Parking Lots!

Anonymous said...

Today a student driving in excess of 50 miles per hour in the Athena parking lot plowed into more than 7 vehicles. The student had no driver license or parking permit but, He was back in school an hour after the accident? Several thousand in damages to cars and all is kept quiet.

SCATS ~~ Various sources tell me that many police & security were on the scene ... the car was TOTALLED.

Just wondering why a kid getting into an accident is NEWS!!! I'm beginning to think you want every crime, accident, incident in the schools, every car that is pulled over, every ambulance call or fire call on the news! That would make the news about 8 hours long and very boring. EVERYTHING is NOT NEWS WORTHY! That or you are very nosy, maybe you should change your name to Mrs. Kravits from bewitched.

To 8:42PM ~~ An unlicensed student plows into 7 cars in a school parking lot at a high speed, totalling at least one vehicle, then returns to class isn't "news" to you? Then why bother reading ANY media?

8:42- "an accident" really? This was a premeditated act of mayhem and destruction of other people's property!

Come on people, it was just a little darling with OCD throwing a tantrum.
Maybe Nancy Nightinggale UNION School Nurse didn't get the happy pill down his neck on time.

We really shouldn't hold this against the lad. After all the Justice System won't and the School System won't. They understand these things happen. Shouldn't we?

Got pictures if you'd like! 5 of them! Just need to know where to send them for posting. Student claimed 11 miles per hour. Damage is probably in excess of $20,000 for the vehicles in photos. GPD told student-no way!, 35 to 40 mph minimum by their estimate. Suspended 3 days.

To 5:58PM ~~ You may send them to cannedclams@aol.com
No zipfiles, please. Put "Athena photos" in the subject line so we'll know it's not SPAM ;)

I heard it was 5 cars too and that he was back in class just over an hour later. I would have thought he would have been sent home immediately. The principal doesn't believe in discipline unless absolutely necessary. The kids know this and as a result are running the school. Staff is getting tired of the lack of leadership and the disrespect and the behavior issues that are taking place as a result of this. I hope the climate can be changed or a new person can take over.

9;17 perhaps the principals attitude toward disipline reflects administration and the board.

To 1/16/2013 8:42PM ~~ Please take a look at the posted pics of this incident that refer to as "an accident." Most people think its "newsworthy."

8:42 Did you see the pictures? That looks like it is newsworthy to me an average citizen. Whoever was driving that car tried to get into a space at top speed. So the kid didn't have a license and didn't of course have a permit to drive/park in the school. How old was the kid? Was he or she driving his family's car or someone else's? Was it stolen? Was a friend involved...letting this person borrow the car? How were the other people notified that their cars had been damaged/vandalized? Were the other cars staff cars? Were the victims of this act shut up by the administration with promises of future rewards like jobs or places on teams? This was not on the road so the student probably was not arrested for driving without a license. This is a case of damages. Civil not criminal unless the kid stole the car.
Thanks to scats for being the only media that shows this. To the rest of the media you are not very brave and lack the ability to pursue stories. Lazy???

where is Meaghan McDermott when there is a REAL story to cover? How about a Watchdog report on how the GCSD covers up news reports?
