GPD Arrests Teen For Posting Video Threats

WHEC-TV
Nicholas Robare, 18, has been charged with second-degree aggravated harassment after posting a link to a video onto another teen's Facebook page. The video showed images of burning clothing and made verbal threats & racial slurs.

Police chief Todd Baxter said: "The derogatory racial statements and profanity is disturbing and has no place in our society. The actions of the defendant reached the level of criminal behavior and will be dealt with as such.”

Misdmeanor. He will walk. Notice the behavior of Baxter, front and center for the media attention.

To 2:41PM ~~ I fear you are correct. Interesting to note that Davy V.'s BLOG of 12/3/12 states: "Alex's mom, Michelle Hare, repeatedly tried to get the Greece, NY Police department to do something, but they refused, telling her that nothing in the video rises to the level of any criminal charges, despite the teens threatening Alex on the video." I wonder what changed his mind???

I would bet that GPD investigators didn't want to do their job like always, and then Baxter saw the media opportunity and lo and behold we have an aggravated harassment charge.

While I find this video disgusting I find it odd that this just happened and there was not provocation on the part of AH. Does anyone else care that the girl in the video and AH were dating? How do you not know if this was in response to another action? Does any one care or know why AH is not longer a student in Greece? I suggest that all you PI's that want to only hold the kid in the video accountable should have the full story.

I feel that it is the mom that is exploiting the deceased child to deflect the real issue and what role her son had in this retaliation. Its a hoody and unless these kids are just evil there is more to this that what is being shared!

To 3:04PM ~~ I take NO CREDIT for this kid's arrest, only for the fact it became newsworthy days after the fact.

To 3:38PM ~~ As has been told, Alex & the girl had BEEN friends - PAST TENSE. There was a rift of some sort. Unless Alex broke the law, there IS NO REASON TO THINK THESE THREE TEENS DON'T DESERVE WHATEVER CRIMINAL CHARGES COME THEIR WAY, is there? Posting hate speech in a video containing threats to Alex's FB page IS NO LONGER TOLERABLE IN TODAY'S WORLD. Capisce??

By the way, THERE IS NO "exploitation" here. Let's allow the deceased to rest in peace while we deal with the crimes of the living.

Scats I agree but it works both ways you need to see the AH Facebook page there is more to it! So I guess the fact that on FB right now "AH says you disrespect me or my family i kill you" is OK? perhaps you should find a way to see his face book page. This boy is not angel.

To 4:35PM ~~ I have searched and am either not finding the correct AH page, or that page is not visible to outsiders. If you give me the web address, I'll take a look, if possible. If you think what he has posted rises to the level of breaking a law, then by all means contact GPD or other law enforcement. In my mind, what you say is posted is a non-specific "threat" meaning it's not aimed at any named individual/s. I doubt there's anything they can do about that. I also doubt there's any INTENT TO DO HARM behind it.
It's akin to saying "I could just kill my kids for messing up the bathroom again."

CLARIFICATION REGARDING THE LAW BROKEN ~~ According to WHEC-TV's report at 5, only the one boy was arrested because the CRIME WAS POSTING THE VIDEO ONTO THE VICTIM'S FB PAGE. Making the video, saying what was said, was NOT a criminal act itself.

Another dog & ponyS T R E T C H by Baxter's BS artists.

We arrest some dumb kid on a bogus set of circumstances, hope his parents are so pissed at the cost of hiring a lawyer they don't notice the charge STINKS, and the whole matter blows away on an ACD. The lawyer won't tell the kid the charge is a hummer, after all he can collect more by playing with Baxter's bullies.

WTF do people expect in a County where a doped up drunk pleads to a 7 year vacation with 3 off for behavior & counselling for roasting her kids?
Sweet Tyler beat the crap out of some kid, and that got washed.
Greece taxpayers are paying for a former Super's BC/BS, and that floats.

Does anyone sincerely expect any consequence in this deal?

The girl they interviewed today said AH asked her to send him naked pictures of herself. I am sure there was much more to the story and I doubt he was innocent in all of it. It certainly does not warrant the racial hatred or the bad behavior of what these kids did in this video. But usually there are two sides to every story and some where in the middle lies the truth.

I think too many are not able to distinguish between prejudice and racism. There is no "black to white" racism. Prejudice yes but not racism.
That being said, it is likely that the use of the derogatory terms in the video are based on prejudice not racism. Being prejudice is human nature ( not our best attribute). These kids took it a step beyond in anger, they chose to use a word that can inflict emotional harm. At one point these kids where friends in school and on FB. If the the kids in the video were racist that is a friendship that would never have occurred as deep seeded beliefs of racism would have prevented it. This is classic kids gone wild, out of control, not thinking about the consequences and saying hurtful words in the heat of the moment. I don't think that anyone feared for their safety after this, much like the off the cuff comments" I'm gonna kill you" that was ref earlier on this blog.

I dare say that we all have said things we regret, perhaps not as hatful as this, but none the less hurtful or wrong. ( Especially as kids)

This does not rise to the definition of bulling as it was not long term or extended, and racist I do not think. Based on may scholars ( black included) this event and use of word does not automatically mean racism.

My post in know way condones the video. I am aware that there is racism in Greece and in America.
