GCSD Recycles Nelms To Deputy Supt.

image

Shaun Nelms named new Deputy Superintendent of Schools for the Greece Central School District  effective January 14, 2013. He replaces Carol Pallas, who will become Superintendent of the Schalmont School District effective January 1, 2013.

Nelms served as a teacher and an assistant principal at Odyssey Academy and Arcadia Middle School between 1999 and 2006. He went on to become a middle school principal in the Rush-Henrietta School District and currently serves as Northeast Zone Chief of Schools in the Rochester City School District where he supervises 20 schools and principals.

SCATS ~~ So, is this an actual attempt at diversifying our district, or merely a token for appearances? Time will tell ...

I worked with Shaun at Arcadia MS. A real classy guy. Very sincere.

What do you say we do something different on here this time? Let's actually give him a chance before we crucify him, ok?

To 2:59PM ~~ Who is trying to crucify him?? My beef is with DO & our BOE who have repeatedly resisted diversifying this district! Obviously, they didn't do what they needed to try to keep him back in 2009, or maybe he'd be our top boss now ;)

When they start to hire more male teachers black, white Hispanic etc then I will believe we are moving toward positive diversity. With better than 90% now female that is totally unexeptible.

He was also one of Meg's up and coming stars. Also was one of the administrators responsible in some past EEOC complaints.

Typical SCATS

I never said you DID crucify him. I was merely making a "pre-emptive suggestion" before the inevitable occurs.

To 3:24PM ~~ I agree!!

To 5:05PM ~~ Responsible for ...?

To 5:49PM ~~ Typical? Then blame district "officials" for continuing to do what they've always done. THEY are predictable.

To 6:23PM ~~ A "pre-emptive siggestion?" May I point out that he HAS WORKED HERE BEFORE?

I realize he has worked here before (see above). However, it was not in the type of "administrative" position he's in now. Now that he is in such a position, he's more of a "target" for the inevitable criticism that will undoubtedly start up on here. We'll see.

To 10:28PM ~~ It's like they say. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Either he makes decisions that are right for the parents, students & community, or he plays the same old political games that seem to befall those who rise to the top in this town. Let's hope he chooses wisely. I'm hoping he becomes our next Supt. because he will do the former.

Because Shaun has few, if any, "old political ties" to the Greece community, he will either (1) make a great superintendent, or (2) never get the CHANCE to become superintendent because he LACKS those political ties. (That would be a shame.)

Why am I getting mental pictures from South Park and hearing Token in my mind?

Looks like the early stages of another traveling AA School Super, all talk & no action.

What's a "traveling AA School Super"?
