Did You Get Your Request For $$?

Anonymous said...
Never let a scandal free opportuniy pass. Since nobody else was doing anything Mark Dobner, Gregg Evans, Ray DiPasquale and Paul Green of the Greece Uniform Patrolman's Association (That's a UNION folks) are grabbing THE CHANCE TO FURTHER FLEECE Greece taxpayers with their annual appeal for MONEY to pay for their Shop With a Cop media exposure opportunity.

The COP UNION has gotten together with the GCSD UNION and Union Member teachers will pick about 25 kids "who could use a little extra help".

Who says Greece Cops don't have guts? Did any of the 4 cops fronting this deal make less than $100,000 from taxpayers last year?

Has anyone ever seen an accounting of previous Shop With a Cop outings? How much was paid to who's wife to stuff the mailers in the envelopes and mail them?

Is this even a legal function for a Police UNION in NY State?   11/02/2012 12:46 AM

SCATS ~~ You've asked some EXCELLENT questions! I had no idea that Shop With A Cop was funded from this, but I have wondered exactly HOW the recipients are chosen. Is there a process that makes it fair for all? I've long suspected that favorites are chosen ... especially since there's no proof required to determine how much "help" any of the families need.

sounds like you got a ticket to me. What a cop makes yearly is not relevant to this appeal. What is relevant is the fact that it is what it is an appeal. There is no obligation on your part to contribute. Therefore to classify it as fleecing of taxpayers is ridiculous . there is no obligation on you or anyone else to contribute. I think it is safe to say that you will not contribute.

regarding the legality, it is legal to solicit funds for this charitable function. There are two functions attached to the Patrolmans association. One is to represent their members as a union. The other is functioning as a PBA , Police Benevolent Association and as such operates as a not for profit expressly for the benifit of the members and their families and community charitable functions. P ublic solicitation are allowed for this purpose only. they can not solicit funds directly for union related purposes. That is illegal.

Names of those kids who participate are provided by the Department of Social services.

To 10:18AM ~~ I'm calling BS to the idea that the "Dept of Social Services" is in anyway involved in this! In all of my years of watching over GCSD's activities & my own involvement, I've yet to see them involved in anything the employees would rather do themselves. This is definitely one of those things.

I am sorry but you are wrong on this one . A call to SS would confirm how it is done and has been done for years.I am in a position to know as I am one of those who volunteer to help with the project and the mailing. No one gets paid on this worthwhile project that not only speaks well for the GPD but the entire community as well. Sorry
no scandal here.

GPD is reading your blog SCATS. Isn't that funny??

SCATS said...

To 12:52PM ~~ There is no way they'd ever confirm such a thing by phone. I am well aware of how this was publicized in the past ~ principals, teachers, counselors decided who got to participate. Social Services and GCSD don't "mix" ... especially since the Town of Greece lost the Youth Bureau.

To 12:58PM ~~ Absolutely hysterical ;)

I said I was a volunteer not a police officer Believe it or not there a still some of us who take pride in our PD unfornunately that it not the case here.fortunately you people represent a very small group of small people who take pleasure in ripping our officers that represent your first line of defense against the ever growing criminal elements that are coming to Greece in alarming numbers

Iguess what bothers me also is the fact that people in other communities read this blog. their negative ideas about our town and it's residents is confirmed by what they read and hear in the media and this blog.

Wow mr sour grapes. How is the police union using their own money and money donated to them fleecing the tax payers again? The way I understand it there is no department money used just union money and its volunteers that bust their butts on their time to help out poor kids at Christmas time. That really sound like something to complain about. Even if they paid their wives to do thing for this which they don't its their money!!!! How much the cops make is irrelevant to this matter. I know 2 different families that were chosen last year it was a great thing for those kids. Nothing like telling a 10 year old to get anything they want and they say my mommy needs a coat!!! Obviously you hate the cops or hold a grudge!!

The MOST amusing realization is that of all the topics ever covered on this BLOG, none gets a few people's panties in such a twist as anything about GPD. You'd think these people walk on water. They don't. I checked ;)

To 3:06PM ~~ Please consider sending what you saved to NYC or NJ for relief efforts. Thank you :)

Scats... isn't it time to start criticizing the posters you disagree with about their grammar, punctuation, etc.?

And I love how GPD is pretending to be someone else on here. Isn't that criminal? Are tax dollars hard at work.

Neither do you Scats I just checked on that with the man upstairs and he said if you tried a sunaumi would devastate Greece. Lol

SCATS said...

To 4:14PM ~~ Yup, right on cue too ;)

To 4:31PM ~~ Only if they are on the clock while doing it.

To 4:37PM ~~ There is no "man upstairs" ... just Santa on the roof Dec 24th. By the way, did you mean "tsunami" by chance?

There ya go, Scats. You never disappoint.

To 10:48PM ~~ Never is a very long time.

American Red Cross President and CEO Marsha J. Evans' salary for the 2011 was $951,957 plus expenses.

The United Way President Brian Gallagher receives a $675,000 base salary along with numerous expense benefits .

UNICEF CEO Caryl M. Stern receives $1,900,000 per year (158K) per month, plus all expenses including a ROLLS ROYCE.
Less than 5 cents (4.4 cents) per donated dollar goes to the cause.

We're just underpaid Union Town Cops trying to get in on the gravy.

Back to you Linda-

1:42 You are right when you say that residents of surrounding communities read this blog site. My son who lives in Penfield recently told me that several of his friends and fellow employees read this blog and are amazed at the self destructive attitude of some people that comment on this sight about the infrastructure of our town.

Several things that get their attention is the negativity expressed toward our school district and our teachers. The total disrespect directed at those charged with providing public safety in Greece. The reelection of town officials responsible for the scandals that occurred on their watch that would result in their ouster in their towns. The general perception of these friends and co- workers is universal. They believe that collectively , the residents of Greece are just plain stupid.

You know what? With out evidence to the contrary, it is a perception about Greece that makes it difficult for one to make a convincing argument to defend against that thinking about us and our town.

SCATS said...

To 9:37AM ~~ Respect is a two-way street. I bet the teachers in your son's district don't flex their union muscles in unity by showing up for work wearing union t-shirts or exhibiting other behaviors showing disrespect for the community that employs them ;)

The re-election of those who keep us in the headlines gives Greece a well-deserved reputation.

Things are not that much sunnier in Penfield. What GPD officers wife works there?

""The general perception of these friends and co- workers is universal. They believe that collectively , the residents of Greece are just plain stupid.""

Wells weuns can't help bein stupid, we wuz edjumcatid by Greece Union Members!

Oh, and about Penfield, they have a bigger rug and superior hiding skills. It's really not all that difficult considering how far up some of the Penfield residents hold their noses.
Penfield also has a huge garbage dump, er I mean Sanitary Landfill.

12:41 Penfield's dump might be large but uns in greece gottem beat hands down. Our dump encompasses roughly 43 sq miles. WAKE UP !! YOUR LIVING IN IT.!!!

Referring to Greece residents as stupid is overly generous as well as too kind.
