Beware The Assessor's Records

Screw the 4th "Justice" issue; Did you get your letter from Leo the Infallible yet?

It seems records in the Assessor's office have over time been proven over and over to be inaccurate, so now Leo the Infallible is asking Greece's dumbass taxpayers to verify the information his office uses for your property inventory.

You can even confess if you added a pool, garage or shed and Leo didn't catch you to enable Leo to raise your assessment.

Funny thing is, NY LAW says Assessor information is perfect, and if you force a hearing, there is no burden on the assessor to prove the information he is using.

Even funnier to people who know how Greece Property Inventory was done in 95 is that 90% of the property inventories are WRONG, and mostly in the Town's favor. Anybody going in and looking at their Property Inventory card will get a surprise is the way insiders see it. Property condition is another favorite fudge on the Assessor's list of ricks.

Don't forget to fill out your form so Leo can send one of his lackies by your house for a close up look. If you're real lucky Blind Paul who can't read a ruler will get your job. You might wind up with a couple hundred extra square feet of house.

Don't miss this chance to screw yourself, and pay for an envelope and postage to do it too.

SCATS ~~ Yup!! The records are in horrible shape! They can't even get houses correctly coded according to NY state requirements. And when you show them their inaccuracies, they ignore you.

Yup........got my letter in the mail on Saturday too. I took one look at it, tore it up and popped it in the wood burner. And they want us to pay for postage too!

Most houses in my neighborhood that are or have been listed for sale sit on the market for several months and then are sold for way below the "assessment."

And unless you are Tom Golissano you don't stand a chance in challenging your assessment.

Hang on to your a----s! This how Maggie raises your taxes. Tell them nothing!! Let the bastards try to their jobs. Don't serve yourselves up. Remember, this will effect your town , county, and school taxes. There is no way in hell your present assessment is going to go any way but up. The only way to fight this rip off is for everyone who gets their assessment raised, should appeal . this would drive them bonkers. Raising home values in this economy is a crime known as grand larceny in the Penal Law of New York State .

Same thing happens in my neighborhood. They sit & sit & end up selling WAY below assessment! It is "suppose" to be aligned with the market value, BS! That's why they sit there, the taxes are so high, and selling for below assessment. No one wants to be paying for more tax value then it's worth. I was just reassessed in 2010, when the market was high, and had an appraisal done for refinance, they lowered their amount by $4500, but with the current market, it is WAY too much, I can't sell my house for that. You can bet even with a current appraisal they won't lower the assessments. I am getting another appraisal done according to the market (of course after Jan 4th as the towns website says) No wonder so many houses are in forclosure! They are burying us & basically robbing us

How is it that even after the town issues permits for item such our pool, shed ( built 1978) and garage ( built 1952)...they are asking me to tell them that I have them? I am not filling out that form. Yet the records accurately reflect central AC that was put in in 1990?
They want to know they need to do the work...

Zebbs was restaurant on Ridge Road. Closed on or about Oct. 26.

went to Zebbs once. The booths were set up so the party right next to you is 'RIGHTNEXTTOYOU'. No sense of privacy at all. Never went back. fries were good tho.

Now according to NYS ORPS regulations, thetaxpayer/property owner is entitled to a copy of his property inventory sheet.

Leo's staff have probably been told to only let people look at their property inventory on the screen on the counter. OK, I got a camera.

Sure would put a crimp in the ass counter if 50 property owners camn in every day for their inventory sheet so they could compare Greece's inventory to the ORPS definitions available on line.

This ain't Auggie's work folks, this is pure Leo. He wants more data to punch into the current re-val program to generate new assessments. I say Leo can kiss my
