Mall Theater To Hold Video Church Services

WHEC reports:

"Northridge Church will be opening its second campus on Sunday October 7th at 10:00 AM at the Regal Theater in the Greece Ridge Mall.

The church currently meets in Irondequoit on the corner of Saint Paul St. and E. Ridge Rd. and will continue to hold services there, but has decided to expand its walls by opening a second campus at the Regal Theater in Greece.

"Instead of expecting people to come to us, we have decided to take the church to the people. In our culture today the movie theater is the postmodern well. It is where the community goes - what better place to have a church service." said Campus Pastor Nate Miller.

The service will be identical to the one held in Irondequoit except the sermon will be delivered via video. There will be live music and Campus Pastor Nate Miller will lead the service. The only thing different will be watching the sermon on the big screen.

"A lot of churches are slowing dying, ours is thriving - and we are excited about taking Northridge Church to Greece!" added Nate Miller."

SCATS ~~  What's next? Weddings with apparel from JC Penney & Target, catering by Critic's and funerals with caskets from Sears?

To 11:15AM ~~ Really!? I think a lot of folks will disagree with that, especially when planning a wedding! Of course they could let the onlookers throw popcorn at the end ... hold the butter please :)

Who might those folks be..?why would they care?

so Scats, are you saying it is better for folks to stay away from a church service only because it is being held at a movie theater? One can only worship their god in a 'real' church? And as far as wedding are concerned, I've seen/heard of weddings take place on beaches, backyards, top of tall buildings, mountains, cabins on a lake, inside walmart, in the backseat of a car and I'm sure there are many other unusual places. Why does it matter the place?

To 2:40PM ~~ Don't go trying to put words in my mouth again. We're talking about venues for weddings, funerals, baptisms. And I think you answered your own question ... if the place didn't matter, people wouldn't be getting married at the venues you named ... many of which are very common venues for weddings (backyards, beaches, mountains, cabins), not "unusual" as you seem to think.

scats .... How many paid evening shows have you attended at the mall movie theater in the past year? If you have not been to 6...that is only 1 movie every 2 months...then you are not supporting the theater yourself...so then drop this topic and get back onto schools and local government. If you can honestly say you have attended movies there regularly, then fine.

To 7:17AM ~~ What a load of poppycock! Everyone who lives in Greece is "supporting" that movie theater. The taxpayers are making up for the COMIDA breaks and footing the bill for Greece cops to patrol it.

Read that as SCATS does not go to the movies at Greece Ridge.

Using the SCATS argument we should all care about Federal highway usage in Wyoming since my Fed tax dollars pay for those roads.

Let's start a blog topic on that...
