Home Buglaries Rise Near New Walmart

13WHAM News reports: " Greece police report a recent spike in home burglaries.
Neighbors in the area of Chalford Road and Delmar Road tell 13WHAM the crimes have been happening during the day.

Police say there's an increased level of burglaries in that area, and plan to release more information on Friday."

UPDATE FROM WHEC-TV

"Greece Police say they deal with burglaries on a regular basis, but this latest spike caught their attention. Over the last month about a dozen homes have been targeted; all in the same general area. It’s that part of town east of Dewey Avenue between Denise and Britton Roads."

SCATS ~~ Guess what folks? Walmart opened August 15th, just ONE MONTH AGO!!

The robberies were happening before Walmart opened. As usual, you are inaccurate.

To 2:06PM ~~ Please tell me specifically WHAT is inaccurate??? All I wrote was the headline which is ENTIRELY ACCURATE. Chalford & Delmar are BOTH NEAR WALMART.

Nice try to discredit me yet again though lol ;) Maybe SOMEDAY you'll succeed.

the D&C report states- 'investigating a pattern of daytime burglaries that began in July on the town’s northeast side near the City border'. When did Walmart open?

To 3:13PM ~~ What does that have to do with the price of rice in China??

First of all, I did not post from the D&C's site, but from WHAM's site. I do not subscribe to the D&C's rag and refuse to do so.

Secondly, 13WHAM promised an update was coming from GPD today, but so far, nothing.

Thirdly, the bus routes to accommodate Walmart's opening were changed a number of weeks preceeding the opening of the store.

I personally saw the sign posted on the bus stop at Denise & Dewey directing people down Denise toward the residences to catch the bus ;) My headline is still accurate. These streets are NEAR WALMART.

For those of you who can not read AND comprehend, Chalford & Delmar have always been located NEAR WALMART ... even before Walmart's construction was complete :)

I just updated this with a link posted by Ch 10. tonight. It states: "Greece Police say they deal with burglaries on a regular basis, but this latest spike caught their attention. Over the last month about a dozen homes have been targeted; all in the same general area. It’s that part of town east of Dewey Avenue between Denise and Britton Roads.

Guess what? It's been almost exactly one month since Walmart opened ;)

No caus & effect here, I'm sure! lol

Correlation does not prove causation. Perhaps Walmart opened because there were burglaries in the area. After all, it happened at the same time.

Robberies started in July. Walmart opened the second week of August. As previously stated you are inaccurate in your post as usual.

To 9:51PM ~~ Apparently you do not understand plain English. Walmart opened August 15th. Today is Sept. 14th. That is about one month.

Ch 10 (link on BLOG front pg)posted tonight that Greece Police say they deal with burglaries on a regular basis, but this latest spike caught their attention. Over the last month about a dozen homes have been targeted; all in the same general area."

What part of "over the last month" do you not get? It does not mention July in either Ch 10's or Ch 13's postings! It specifically says exactly what I quoted.

Maybe you should confront GPD and ask them why they lied to Ch 10.

To 9:45PM ~~ Nice try BUT robberies spiked coinciding with when WALMART OPENED, not before.

SCATS, I think that's exactly what 9:45 said. The robberies and Walmart opening happened at the same time.

All I know is that my neighbors house was broken into in the daytime two weeks ago. Well after walmart was opened. So, where is the extra police presence promised by the town?

SCATS said...

To 1:14PM ~~ They are in the Walmart parking lot, of course ;)

Scatts:

Do you ever look at a half full glass of water being half full or would it always be half empty?

There have been many break-ins on Straub Road and other roads near Straub.
MY own Father's home had someone attempt to get in but only got as far as breaking into the 3 season room.

Do you think that this has something to do Walmart too?

SCATS said...

To 2:23PM ~~ I look at the glass as being twice as large as it needs to be!

Straub Rd, huh? I'd say you're much closer to the bus route for the mall or Unity there, not Walmart ;)

Anonymous said...

Scat s, you missed the real reason for break-ins on Straub Rd. It is in GREECE

To 6:52PM ~~ You caught me trying to be "positive"! lol

Follow the bus route. How many burglaries are utilizing the regional bus service as get away transport? The Delmar Chalford spree could be related to the recent change in the Dewey bus route that provides a loop to the Affinity Apartments that wasn't there before. Affinity to Wegmans to Walmart and back. Jiggety jig. All within Greece. The city can't take credit for this.

To the person directing our attention to a different website ~~ I've decided (after much debate) to NOT post your comment because the items on that site related to this thread are largely filled with extremely offensive language, racist content and demeaning/disgusting photos. I don't want SCATS' readers to be exposed to such potentially upsetting and controversial content as that. Let them discover it on their own. Thanks for understanding :)
