To Be Discussed at Tuesday BOE Meeting, 6:30PM
It is anticipated that the BOE will go into an Exec. Session at 5:30PM to discuss collective bargaining, the employment history of particular person(s) & pending litigation.

"The Board of Education of the Greece Central School District hereby authorizes Ferrara, Fiorenza, Larrison, Barrett & Reitz, P.C. to commence legal action on behalf of the Greece Central School District and the Board of Education of the Greece Central School District to challenge any approval/authorization by COMIDA for a PILOT Agreement with Greece Ridge Mall Company and/or any other related entities, and any other necessary or permissive party as necessary to allow COMIDA’s action to be challenged in court."

The Syracuse mall, the Irondeqoit mall and now the Greece mall, this is industrial development in Comida's eyes?

I hope this is the start of something GRAND!

To 12:43PM ~~ I'm just waiting to learn what the ulterior motive is ... you know there MUST be one ...

How much do you think the district will end up paying these lawyers to find out that unfortunately there is nothing they can do? Good money after bad.

Here we go again planting the seeds of doubt as to the district's motivation.Does there alway have to be an ulterior motive ? Unless you have reason. To the contrary,Scats ,why not just give the district credit for doing the right thing to protect the interests of us taxpayers.

How can there be a document that is in the future that is written in the past tense. Do they do all their resolutions in this backwards to the future manner? If not they know going into this that it will not hold water. But it looks good on the surface that they at least have "tried". They can protest but this is just that...a protest to say they do not agree with the action of the COMIDA. They are not asking for a court to impose a stay or injunction on the possible but probable action of COMIDA. It's really nothing. But it looks good for the superintendent for her annual review. Did she buy her house yet?

Yer dang right it's industrial development!

Not all that long ago the Presidunce of the Hilton Board of Miseducation worked there at the Disney store.

Where else are GCSD graduated going to find jobs? OK, some of them will have problems competing for the heavy work of making change, and they will have to compete with laid off teachers, ought to be a level playing field based on the teachers I've met, but jobs is jobs.

It's the community thing to do. You got a job you should be paying to create a job for somebody else.

It makes dullards happy.

To 1:32PM ~~ NOTHING is ever as simple as it first appears around here. That's why the Greece Town motto is "Discover the promise."

To 2:17PM ~~ Your question is much too logical. Regarding the Supt's house, she has until June 30th, but they're gonna give her a raise Tuedsday night anyway. That's how things work around here ;)

2:17 - because any change to policies (even slight wording) requires a BOE meeting to adopt it. They are written that way (much like an employment contract is that you haven't signed yet, but the employer "assumes" you're accepting the job) as a matter of efficiency. There is always a first reading of any proposed policy whereby BOE members can ask questions, challenge wording, etc. At the second reading, any changes have been made and the BOE moves to adopt (or not) the policy. It's really not as cloak and dagger as you'd like to believe.

Go lady GO! I think she has guts. I can't wait to follow this one!

To 11:39AM ~~ I'm not so sure there is anything that GCSD can do about this, but it sure looks good, doesn't it? I wonder how much it cost to lawyer up for this show?

Irondeqouit successfully intervened in the COMIDA action taken regardiing The Mall redevelopment by Conegal. As a taxing authority, Greece central has the right to demand compensation from wilmorite due to the loss of tax revenue. For the district,.Technically they can block action by COMIDA unless the district gets compensated for the anticipated. Loss of tax revenue that ultimately hurt the district forcing cuts in educational programs unless the taxes lost by the action of COMIDA is passed on to us home and small business owners. The state imposed 2 percent tax mandate makes that virtually impossible.
So lets hope they are successful through the legal process or next years budget absent this revenue will be devastating and lead to more program cuts and lay offs. It's about time that community governments put COMIDA on notice that these political activities for favored businesses will no longer be tolerated.
