Should Our Leaders Be Homeowners & Residents?

GREECE'S TOP LEADERS ARE NOT
PROPERTY OWNERS/TAXPAYERS
TO THE TOWN, SCHOOL DISTRICT

Supervisor John Auberger ~ Rents

Police Chief Todd Baxter ~ Resides in Ogden

Supt. Barbara Deane-Williams ~ Resides out-of-district* (contractually required to purchase Greece home by 6/30/12)

GTA Pres. Don Pallozzi ~ Resides out-of-district

The upcoming elections for the Greece Central School District feature two younger than typical candidates. Not surprisingly, neither appear to be property owners within the Greece Central School District. Yet, if elected, they will be making decisions that impact how much you & I pay in property taxes.

SCATS ~~ SHOULD OUR LEADERS BE HOMEOWNERS & RESIDENTS PAYING PROPERTY TAXES IN THE LOCALE WHERE THEY WORK/LEAD?

Even renters pay taxes. You don;t really think the landlord pays the taxes without passing them on to the renters in the cost of renting, do you? Of course that means the residence should be in the Greece community, preferably in the GCSD area.

How about the cops? Roughly 65 percent of sworn cops don't even live in MonroeCounty.

Yes!! They SHOULD own homes, pay property taxes! Anything less would appear to elevate them above the masses.

To 11:44AM ~~ The point is that a renter probably has no clue what the taxes are on the property he/she lives in, just as they probably have no clue how much their water bill might be ;)

To 1:20PM ~~ I didn't realize that many live outside the county. Very interesting!!

To 1:20.
That just isn't true. It isn't anymore than 15%.

To 1:20PM & 1:51PM ~~ Where are you folks getting your figures?

What makes you think that all renters don't pay water bills? Of I forgot, you are the know it all. You should run for I don't recall's seat when his term is up. On your own party line.

To 2:11PM ~~ I seldom use words like "all" in my posts. I didn't use it here either. Try not to put words in my mouth and you'll sound more intelligent.

Just an FYI, unless they changed policy in the last few years, the place where the Supervisor rents from charges a consistent monthly fee (it was $25/mo) for water that doesn't reflect actual water consumption by the renter.

2:00. RESEARCH!

1:51 after reviewing my figures and checked the figure I quoted I realized that that 65 percent figure was incorrect.
Accodring to my figures two years ago the break down at the time was as follows. 65 percent do not live in the town.
48 percent lived in Monroe County. About 17 percent lived outside Monroe County in the adjacent counties that boarder Monroe. the balance lived in the town.
This all took place when Auberger was offering jobs to the highest bidder or awarding political favors to certain connected people.prior to the Rahn scandal.

To 4:29PM ~~ Thank you for specifying & providing that breakdown.

Scats: off topic. Sorry. I hear Rep Slaughter is (finally) going home from the hospital this week. How is it that someone who is capable of working a half-day on her demanding representative work, can stay in the hospital for the PT needed when she is capable of working half time! Last time I was in the hospital, I had to sleep in the ER because there was no room available. A good friend was told he would have to sleep in the ER very recently when there "was no room available". Either Louise had much better insurance than the rest of us Medicare folks, or she is much more ill than she wants us to believe. Which is it, Louise? We deserve to know! Either your insurance is robbing us blind, or you are lying about your health!

Please I wish your superintendent would move to Greece. Lyndonville has had enough of her!! Thanks for snagging her by the way!!

To 6:35PM ~~ I knew that our Senators & Reps. had a great health care plan. Maybe that's what we're getting a view of?

To 8:21PM ~~ The contract compels her to buy a home, but not to live in it. Sorry.

Off topic, you are really a sick person. My health care coverage pays for virtually unlimited hospital stays and I'm. Just. An average person not a politician. My point is it is not necessary to be an important person to have this kind of coverage. By the way you Maggie slip is showing.

If Slaughter were against affordable health care for all like a number of republicans than you might accuse her of hypocrisy -- though as the poster points out some current plans do cover longer term hospitals stays and rehab. But looking at her web site Slaughter seems to be a strong proponent of affordable care for all. This seems to be a special concern for her. Since she seems to want all to have a good level of care and attempts to achieve this in her position as our representative I see no moral issue here.

"My health care coverage pays for virtually unlimited hospital stays"

Are you a union former government employee?

If you are, please thank us all for the great bennies we provide you with our taxdollars.

If you aren't, please let me know where you work(ed) so I can try and get a job there too!!!

PS - I'm not working for anyone's campaign and believe Louise is duping all of us. You don't have to be a political animal to have an opinion you know. Your accusation is insulting and offensive, but typical.

By your comment defending Slaughter, should we all assume you're one of her paid staff or campaign workers? Wouldn't that assumption offend you?

6:04 Talk about striking a nerve YIKES!!! I was't defending anyone. I simply pointed out the fact that there some health care plans available that provide coverage that do offer extended coverage to us commoners.

As to where I am employed that is really non of your business. However, judging by your obvious " thin skinned"personality, you would not qualify. So you need not apply.

All leaders should be residents.

So how many real leaders do we have?. Name names, please!

To 7:34PM ~~ Thank you! That's VERY telling about her intentions to buy a "home" in Greece.
