I know it's off topic - but did you hear the kids on the 8th grade Washington trip had to change hotels because the 1st hotel was infested with. Bed bugs & the kids were getting bit? Hope no one has any on there clothes or on their luggage or Greece is going to have their own infestation to worry about!    5/27/2012 2:42 PM

SCATS ~~ I sure hope the parents were informed BEFORE the kiddies got home.

Did you hear it was all taken care of very professionally by the hotels and all that were involved?

It is an unfortunate incident indeed. However I fail to see how this is the districts fault. I believe the blame falls on the hotel. My son was on this trip, and we were contacted and another hotel was found which was closer to the events that were scheduled the next day. Unfortunate this had to happen but it seems that they did everything they could to salvage the trip. My son said the rest of the trip was great and everyone enjoyed themselves.

To 11:38AM ~~ Please show me WHERE it says it is the district's fault? I've read & re-read the posting and just don't see that anywhere.

I like to know what was done after, when they returned home. Or when they come to school. Will they bring it to school and contaminate other kids?

he expert on bedbugs would be Donna the Infection Prevention Nurse at Unity. I'd post the direct number but SCATS might hawk a hairball.

Just call the hospital at 723-7000 and ask for Donna in Infection Prevention. She's very helpful.

The School was reimbursed for the trip but is not sharing the refunds or any monies with the students.

To 1:01PM ~~ If that's true, then that's just wrong on so many levels, geesh.

It's the school that would get sued for the disease and the complications of any of the bites.
