GTA Indecisive About BOE Candidates

Shame on you GTA! As a Greece teacher I was appalled when I opened my email yesterday and I saw who you endorsed for School Board members - Joe, Nick and Adam - and not Terry Melore, a retired Greece teacher whom I have known and worked with for years - some one that would be true asset to our School Board. Some one that has given our district her time and talent. Then today I receive another email giving her your endorsement. No wonder we can't settle our contract, we don't even know whom to endorse! It looks real good when we endorse 4 candidates for 3 seats - which one of you is the math teacher?   5/11/2012 7:40 PM

Maybe the union is letting you decide for yourself who to vote for. They like 4 of the candidates. They might think 4 of them are qualified in their opinion. Now you will have to think for yourself if you will vote for 1 or 2 or 3 candidates. And you will have to make the decision on your own. Or you could vote for the one candidate the union didn't mention. I'll bet the email didn't tell you to vote for 4 people when there are only 3 spots. Think think think. Just like the rest of us. No one tells us who to vote for.

To all GTA members. If ever a union needed a change in leadership your union is a text book case
Palozzi is being led around by his nose by Steve Monks from NYSUT. He doesn't make a move without his permission. In fact, Monks is the prime reason you have been without contract for so long. Monks is the lead negotiator at the bargaining table. In this capacity he has stifled any progress by way of compromise because NYSUT 'S state wide position is absolutely no" give backs " what so ever. Pallozi doesn't have the guts to stand up to him .
Margaret is another problem. Her time has come and gone. Her militant stance on issues were necessary early on in the progress of your previous contract talks years ago Such is not the case today given the realities of economic conditions that exist today.
In my opinion it is time for change at the top. How ever,is there any one in your ranks willing to take the jobs.

You better be careful, your leader will not like the fact that your being outspoken. She has already started planting her moles in the school. Did you know with all the cuts Greece is facing she still hired a guidance counselor named Christine Goodwin who was her buddy from Lyndonville and was a mole there too! Was the job posted? did they conduct interviews? Makes you wonder.

@7:40 -- If you look closely, you will notice that the email endorsing Terry came a few hours after the first as her name was accidently left off. Your rep did not forward it to you until the next day. I was at the union meeting when people were discussed and she was at the top of the list. Do you really think we would not endorse a former teacher? Also, why did you feel the need to let this blog of teacher hate know about this anyway? You would never last in the Corleone family. 'Never let anyone outside the family know what your thninking again'.

To 1:42AM ~~ No one tells us who to vote for? LMAO!!! Good one!!

To 9:31AM ~~ I really appreciate the fact that you had the guts to actually let us know that dealing with the inner workings of GTA was akin to a mob-run operation! Many of us always suspected as much ;)

By the way, the downfall of the mafia was aided by those who used their heads and sang like birds in the courtroom.

@7:48...thanks to Don, I'll still be enjoying my $3,000 raise come July 1st...at tax payer expense.

7:48 That's just the attitude that has destroyed any support for your profession in the community. For your information,Pallozi had nothing to do with your" automatic"raise.
Those progression step raises we're in your contract for years put there by people with B------S. If you want to thank anyone, thank the state legislature for adding the Tribourgh amendment to the Taylor Law. .If not for that, the district had the power to impose a contract freezing wages and cutting benefits
In my opinion that amendment has to be repealed. In order to force your union to return to bargaining in good faith.

Time for Palozzi to go. He doesn't represent the teachers - only the union agenda. I know many teachers that if they had a vote today would be voting him out of office. He's letting the district walk all over the teachers, especially with the school consolidation issues. The district violates the contract - and he says OK. Even tells the teachers they have to waive their rights to complain about the violations. Mr. Palozzi is a nice man - but its time to move on.

@3:01. Support us, don't support us, it really doesn't matter. We will continue to defend ourselves and you will continue to voice opinions. In the end, we just keep chasing our tails going nowhere. At least we have the same goal of better education for the kids...who are really the only thing I care about. Oh...Happy Mother's Day Scats. Enjoy the day.

Gta contracts continue to be a cause of increased budgets. They are the ONLY union that continues to get a 4percent raise every year. Other unions have made concessions , paid more in health care costs and also taken a zero increase , yet the teachers refuse to negotiate their contract because they simply don't have to. They will continue to get that 4percent every year because some idiot agreed to their contract to be worded as such. So I really don't want to hear them wine about how unfairly they have been treated during the school consolidation and how the district is walking all over them. You are holding the district hostage by not being willing to give up anything in your contracts, so you want to play hardball that is what you get. And not to mention you look like greedy self serving group when other unions are forced to give more and more up because of your self seving entitlement mentality. Join in with the rest of the world and show some good faith during these hard times. Maybe then people would look at your group differently than a bunch of whiners that already have the summers off and are running out the doors before the buses even pull out of the parking lots. And I realize this does not apply to all. Odyssey teachers seem to be willing to put in that extra effort and time and it seems like it pays off.

5:56 I've seen some pretty smart dogs chase their tails. They only difference between them you is they no why they are doing it.

Like GTA has ever really done anything for Greece.

Let's all vote for the young ones who are not teachers.

Teacher GOA routiningly do not adhere to the terms spelled in the contract, In fact it's well known through out the teachers is doing this is condition of the priviledge of teaching there. Sue has her own rules and you either conform or you find yourself back teaching in the general population.Pallazi has been unsuccessful in makeing Them to adhere to the work rules spelled out in the contract.
These teachers also violate federal law. The fair standards and wages law specicaly spells out terms and conditions of free time for workers. This applies to time for meals as well as breaks during a regularly scheduled work day.. In both instances State and Federal they both state that no Individules has the right to" Waive" any terms spelled out in contracts and statutes. To do so is simply breaking the laws.
For those of you out there have repeatedly asked why can't we apply the OA model across the district is big part of equation. How many teachers in troubled schools would give up their lunch hour and" dine" with their kids? The answer is obvious.

To 4:09PM ~~ While eating in the classrooms with students & eliminating the entire chaos of cafeteria style "dining" goes a long ways in setting tone, it's not the magical spell that produces better test results ;)

Let's face it. For yearsOA has operated in a charter school atmospher with private school philosophy with Miers as head mistress. Whenyou have the ability to control the size of each cohort without yearlong additions to those numbers and influence the quality of the students that get to go there, that completes the pieces of the puzzle as to why OA out performs it's sister schools and why that model will never be duplicated thru out the entire district.
However, due to the recent consolidations and new attendance zones ,all that is about to change dramatically.Cafeteria " dining" is about to return to OA.

Ha Ha Ha 8:23.....Odyssey teachers are not taking anymore time or doing anything different than the other teachers in Greece (most likely less time). They are teaching the "cream of the crop" in Greece.
